Daisy hun how are you today? In the end we had to resort to old-fashioned calorie counting, as the low-carbing just wasn't getting the weight off in the end and we wanted results quicker, or at least just some results at all! I really wanted to believe that I could eat pretty freely, so long as it was low carb, but it just didn't work for me:o

I now record all the calories I have in a day and make sure I keep below my daily limit. But it's still possible to do low carb this way - just have to minimise dairy and other really calorie dense stuff. I'll be honest, I do have bran cereal in the mornings, Ryvitas sometimes and the occasional ready-made low calorie sandwich, especially on Tuesdays when I am up at 6 and not home till 9.30pm - sometimes there's enough stress in life without having to stress about time-consuming food making into the bargain:o But that aside, pretty standard - no bread, spuds, pasta, rice etc.

I am only just back to my pre-crimbo weight as of this morning. It's so depressing isn't, the ease with which we can put on a pound, but the difficulty in getting off that same pound! But at least this way, I know exactly when I go wrong, why I am going wrong, and I can correct it straight away. With traditional low carbing, if I stalled, I was never sure if it was too much dairy, too little water, caffeine, sweetners, nuts, etc etc that was causing the problem.

    Just my thoughts anyways:)

Much love to all, hope you're all having a good day

  • I'll admit to 'panic-buying' 3 bags of frozen cauliflower today
Now I just have to get myself to H&B to panic-buy some crispbreads & I'm sorted!! :rotfl:

Sazbo, good to see you posting & sounding very positive about your WOE, you sound like you're doing great :D

I had a look at those crisprbreads but I don't think I'm allowed them on IPD as we're not supposed to have anything that's more than 4g of carbs per 100g. I think the crispbreads were much more than that. Which bummed me out.

Does anyone else find it odd that your goal posts move as you lose weight?

Back in October I would have been overjoyed to be where I am now , but now I am there I am far from happy , its like those Russian dolls that get smaller as you take them from inside each other , your just a smaller version of the same shape.

Your stomach may be far smaller, but because everything else has got smaller then proportionally it makes the difference less visual.

I have come to the conclusion that there are just two states , slim, and degrees of being fat.

    Anyway , onwards and forwards!

Breakfast 2 quorn saus and scrambled egg
Lunch chicken breast, broccoli & green beans
    Dinner ham salad

I actually felt smaller all over so was quite happy, thing is though, i need to be standing next to someone in a mirror to be able to get the idea of proportions, if you only look at yourself i think its hard to judge.

I also think that however slim i went, i would always want to be a bit slimmer.

Thats never gonna happen though as i'm being crap again!!
  • Morning all :hello:

sarah, I think the crispbreads are 2g net carbs each, but realise what you're saying about the 4g per 100g carb 'rule'.
Tbh, I'm not being that strict about things, a bit of IPD/a bit of Atkins/a bit of general lcing. (Btw, I'm sure the BNS is more than 4g & I got that recipe from the IPD book??)
Anyway, I suppose what I'm saying is that I think there has to be a degree of flexibility & common-sense when you're on a 'diet'. I don't intend to slavishly follow 'the rules' of lcing, but I'll adapt them to suit me, as long as I'm still losing weight, of course!!
If you look at the grand scheme of things, I'm eating waaaaaaay less carbs than I used to when I was stuffing my face with pasta, chocolate, bread etc.
I think you have to do what works for you, iyswim??
    Anyway, enough cliches!! :D

    My menu for today:
B - 2 egg mushroom scrambled egg with grated cheese
L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese, garlic sausage, last of my soup
D - pan-fried salmon with watercress sauce, cauli mash & green beans

Tis a chilly one here today, the grass is white with frost but at least the sun is coming out. Have a lovely day, everyone

Ps. MAAAZZERS!! :wall: Get a grip, woman!! :rotfl:

I'm afraid I'm the same as Daisy. I haven't lost any more since the first few lbs. It's really disappointing but I think I will have to cut down/stop the Lidl yoghurt and see if that makes any difference. I am trying to eat more salads but it just doesn't fill me up, even with eggs, tuna or bacon. I was looking at liqourice sticks (a bit like a piece of tree) in H&B and I was wondering whether I should get some of them to eat but not swallow. Has anyone else tried this, does it help, and what do they taste like?
  • linni, not heard of the liquorice sticks?? What would be the point of them though?? Can't imagine they would fill you up if you're not swallowing them?? Also, can't help picturing those 'hill-billy' films where they chew on sticks & then spit stuff out!! Bleurgh!! _pale_:rotfl:
It sounds like you're not eating enough if you're still hungry. My meal last night (Daisy's chicken pie, cauli mash & green beans) was extremely filling. Maybe salad is too light for you?? Have you tried having a low-carb soup as part of a meal??
You shouldn't be starving on low-carb & I think you might need to look at what you are eating. See daily menus for ideas if you're stuck, I post mine, as does Mercy, Gers, Daisy etc.

Hi, I've only been posting my menu's sometimes, because mine are so boring, compared to what other lc's eat.. I've got out of the habit of writing down what I eat but must start again and I've also got to vary the meals more as I am already going off cauliflower! Soup is a good idea - will get the recipe books out. I was thinking of the chewing sticks as a flavoured distraction but probably not a good idea! :rotfl: :rotfl:

hey sazzles honey good to see you :) xx
i know why its not shifting - its all the little bites of this and a couple of that and just the 1 choccie finger etc etc etc
i have no one to blame but myself unfortunately for just not being strict enough :(

yesterday was ok - just the one deviation
    bacon and egg
    hm turkey soup
cod and salmon pie - leeks mushrooms teeny bit sweetcorn and calui for topping - had brocolli and cabbage and carrot
but then had a small dish of sour cream pretzels !!! why why why - cos my daughter opened them :(

today i had a scrummy lunch - sweets take note !!
2 of your crackers heavily buttered topped with 2 runny friend eggs - yum yum yum - the yolk and heat softened the crackers not quite egg on toast but not bad

also has anyone got a nutritional scales where it tells you how much carbs and stuff is in food ? i got one in lidls today for 9 quid but it only has 1000 foods programmed in ? not sure if it will be worth keeping ??
    :j MFi3 wannabee :j
