  • Morning all :hello:

Let's say yaay for friends with spare laptops!! :D
mazzers, glad you managed to come back to us so soon, don't know what I'd do if our lappy broke, doesn't bear thinking about, who would I [STRIKE]bore[/STRIKE] talk to?! :rotfl:
Have you had the river cobbler before?? I've seen it in Tesco but haven't bought it cos wasn't sure how it would taste :o Think I need to be more adventurous sometimes, I'm too set in my ways!! Well done on the bargains btw!!

Kids are off school again today, 4th day running, so I'm going to drag them out for a walk in the snow today, I'm sick of them festering in their bedrooms!! :rotfl: Don't have to go out in the car so it's wellies all the way!!

    Menu for today:
    B - 2 egg cheese & mushroom omelette
    L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese
    D - chicken/leek/mush madras with cauli & green beans

Have bought another butternut squash so will make soup over the weekend :D

Btw, anyone having trouble getting hold of fresh cauliflowers?? Bought one from the Co-op on Tuesday & it cost me £1.30!! Twas only a little one as well!! Before Christmas they were about 85p!! Tried getting one in Netto yesterday & they didn't have any (or space for any) so ended up getting a pack of frozen. Is there a cauliflower shortage?!

Anyway, time to get sorted, see you later folks, have a good day

I buy the frozen cauliflower from Lidl when cauli is out of season, I find it a lot less watery than asda's its dead easy to microwave up and mash or rice it.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

I had some mashed frozen cauli which I thawed out because I thought it was chicken stock and so I chucked it in the rubber stew and it tastes really nice. My menu for the next few days is yoghurt and stew, stew, stew.

I've eaten masses of carbs over Xmas, making a concerted effort to get back into it today. I've put on ½ stone :( I had burger and chips for my tea last night, first chips I've eaten in a very long time).
Had cream and berries for breakfast.
I'm going to have a cauli chessy mashy type thing for lunch.
Making chicken pie for tea, I'll probably eat the pastry but just having some veg with it.

Not sure if you've seen daisy's version of chicken pie (see below) - could you make a small one of these for yourself & let everyone else have the pastry one??

just had lushness on a plate - chicken mushroom and leek pie with cabbage and broccoli
pie was chicken leeks and mushies fried off then seasoned and copious amounts of double cream added simmered and then into a pie dish topped with mashed cauli and grated cheese and baked - yum yum

Anyway, welcome back jordy, haven't seen you for a loooong time!! :D

  • Lots of thumbs up for frozen cauliflower, I see!! :D

I used to always buy frozen, tbh more for quickness than price :o but then the frozen stuff I was buying from Netto started looking dirty, as if it needed a good wash before you used it!! Are you supposed to wash your frozen cauli?! Anyway, it put me off, so I started buying fresh. Will see what the Netto frozen one is like now, maybe I bought from a bad batch before??

  • Hi Rebekah, welcome to the thread.

Can you give us an idea of what stillmans is, please?? Do you just eat lots of eggs?!
