Mercy, what are those crackers you keep on mentioning? Do they have a name? or a brand? where do you get them from? I want to try and get some next week on my trip back if I can. (I just only hope the snow will have abated by Friday)Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.0

Hope it's all gone now - I use Flixonase (from chemist and off prescription) to keep the bogeys at bay. One hint of a sniffle and I take this nasal spray and it has, for a number of years now, been very effective.
Ta chuck! Will try to get that aft work
Think Vit C dies very quickly in the light, however current research hasn't found anything efficacious about high dosing Vit C for colds. But... if it's a good placebo then it's great.
I was thinking of dosing the water/soda mix with lemon for the mucus busting use rather than vitC. Don't think a coupla lemons would be high dose though? anyway it's water soluble so harmless. Was asking after the shelf life as it would be nice to get my vit C without supplements for once :rotfl: From what you say I should take my usual anyway.
Anyway, research, smeasearch. Not paying much attention to that sort of tit for tat nonsense anymore. They're usually saying what they say to pay the bills
Am quite looking forward to work tomorrow. Got a lot on and it is interesting.
Sweet n happy dreams to you all!

I think they're called G&G (scandinavian?) and only seem to be available (on the high street) from Holland and Barrett . They're quite expensive - £1.19 I think for 10, but you really should only have 2 a day due to the 85% bran content :rotfl: That makes them <25p a serving which isn't bad really. They're in a clear plastic wrapper and I think they're recommended for 'slimming world' or similar. Says 'low carb' on the pack. You should be able to find them from that description
I have sweetserendipity to thank for putting me onto these, they really do help when you want to spread something on something crunchy. Best bit is, when you take a bite that's all that happens. You don't get the 'whoops-break-crumble' effect of other crackers.
Hope you find them, I'm off for some more on sat, rationing til then :rotfl:

Morning folks - still snowy and cold.
Had my bacon and eggs and cup of green tea and just going to jump into the shower and get on with my working day. Need to go out again to post office, actually enjoying the 'push' to get walking and it's good for the core muscles too.
Lunch will be some home-made leek soup, heavily dosed with ginger, that i made from a withered leek last night. Got loads of withered veggies lurking around.
Hope everyone's warm and well.

Morning peeps :hello:
Think I've dropped another lb overnight?? I'm weighing on the bathroom scales & forget what I was yesterday as I've got major pmt (concentration & forgetfulness) symptoms
daisy, my DDs are 14 & 12 & we hope they'll both go to University, so same situation for us. They come first in our money priorities, the move (back) to Scotland will have to wait.
Gaye/Mercy, I can't take the credit for finding those crispbreads, twas Sazbo who originally posted about them months ago!! I just happened to stumble across her post when I was looking through old posts (for inspiration) a while back. Soooooo glad I did though as I love them!!
Gers, the leeks I put into my soup were 'sell by' 3rd December, 2009!! The top bits had gone brown & slimy but I managed to salvage enough of the rest to add to the soup & also my chilli. Waste not, want not!! :rotfl:
Menu for today:
B - 2 egg cheese & mushroom omelette
L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese, last of my soup
D - not sure yet but will be having the usual veggies
Have a good day everyone :wave:0 -

Research (smeasearch;) says Echinacea actually works so I take that. Who knows if my colds would be worse without but it tastes disgusting so I feel like its doing me good.
For phleghm (lovely word) apparently elderberry syrup is really good. I had Sambucol before cutting out sugar and haven't yet got round to buying the sugar free but the sugarred did seem to have an effect (might be placebo of course). Every year when I start getting colds I wish I'd made my own but the berries are all gone, and every year when there are berries I've not got a cold so forget!0 -

Oh eck. I've just remembered there's a stick of Brussel Sprouts in the shed, bought for Christmas and put there as they wouldn't fit in the groaning fridge. I wonder what state they are in and what I can do with them if they are at all edible. Any suggestions?0 -
Yes! We're having this for dinner. Bacon, brussels and brie. Par boil the brussels, then while they're cooking chop the bacon up into bite size bits and fry. When it's browning nicely add the brussels until they are slightly browned (you could add some olive oil here if you need it). Then add the brie last, til it melts a bit. Then scoop into bowls. If you like brussels (I LOVE them) it's a delicious, warming winter midweek supper.0

WEll, since I started on Monday I've lost 2.5lb and am feeling much much better. The carb bloat has gone, and two yoga sessions have helped me feel a bit more in charge of my body. Am signed up to doing two sesssions a week now so hopefully this will help the weight loss and toning (and am teaching my husband to do yoga at home in the evennigs, so hopefully that will stretch me a bit further, if you'll pardon the pun). Very lucky; my work puts the yoga classes on so I can do them at lunchtime.0

Sounds great. Hopefully the brussels will survive long enough that we can get to the shops to actually buy some brie. The fridge is looking very bare, no-one is delivering, the car is snowed in and the trains are fubar0
