    Morning!

Good to hear of others successes and struggles. I'm not weighing myself (resolve and confidence would collapse at the reality of the uphill battle I've tasked myself with) so I find it best to just jog along and use my clothes as a guide. If things get looser I'm winning.

Got a lovely pud to share. I've gone off sweet things (and even more so since my sugar fest Sunday :o) but this may work for others as it's really tasty.

    Serves 4 - carbs per serving 1g

1 packet strawberry sugar free jelly
    150ml/¼pint boiling water
    300ml/½pint cold water
    4tbsp single cream
    1 egg white

    Method:
Add the jelly to the boiling water and stir until dissolved
Stir in the cold water and the cream
Whisk the egg white until stiff and fold in immediately
Pour into dish or individual dishes and chill until set
Mixture will separate into fluffy top layer and smooth one below.

Taken from 'The low carb long term lifestyle' by Carolyn Humphries - it's got loads of really interesting recipes and advice, some of which I follow and some of which I don't.

Like Mercy I tend to make/eat the same 4 or 5 meals as I really don't have much time, or to be fair inclination, to have other stuff. Chicken, bacon, steak, salad, coleslaw and eggs all work for me and keep me sated. I make a pan of pea and mint soup every week and have that too, although peas are about 9g of carbs per 100g I really enjoy it and don't eat many other carbs. Oh, and the hated yoghurt too.

This morning I've had my breakfast and just about to head out into the wildness. Hope everyone is safe, warm and motivated.

I'll put you on the guestlist when I make my 'trifle' Sweets.

I think we'll all be queuing up, so make sure you make a big one, please!! :D:rotfl:

sweets - portion size? If you are finding it a bit big, reduce. You can always have a cracker n cheese if you are still hungry. Don't put yourself in the position of 'having' to eat it all if you are really full. Cos it isn't necessary.

My eyes are bigger than my belly!! :o:rotfl:
I'm soooo used to having big portions (I try & match hubby :o) & hate leaving anything on my plate!! Usually do force myself to finish it as I think I don't want to be hungry later ...

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Just deliberating whether to venture outside - tis extremely wild out there!! I do need to go into town but I'm wondering if I can wait until things calm down a bit?? Decisions, decisions ...

Zero, good to see you back!! I still use the recipes you posted a while back, especially the pesto chicken one. :D

    My menu for today:
    B - 2 egg cheese & mushroom omelette
    L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese, egg mayo
D - last of the chilli with unknown veg on the side, depends what I buy today

Was having a flick through the free Tesco Christmas magazine & there's a couple of yum sounding recipes on page 82 that could be adapted to low-carb.

Hearty chicken & spinach curry - just leave out potatoes, lentils, sweet potatoes & add in low-carb alternatives

Roasted red pepper & chilli soup - ok, not sure how low-carb this would be because it uses 6 red peppers but it sounds gorgeous & it does make 8 portions. Thought it would be lovely with mazzers' bread dunked in!!

Anyway, think I will venture out, will be another 'mad hair day' but will certainly blow the cobwebs off!!

Why. WHy can't I stick to it this time? What's wrong with me? I HAVE to lose weight to try for another baby. The consultant;s told me so. And every day I start off really well, with low carb breakfast and lunch. No problems there. Then I get the sugar craving and I either give in to choc, or I last til I get home and then have chocolate then. Sometimes I manage til really late at night and then I give in. Why am I such a self-saboteur? What can I do, I'm driving myself to drink!

I think the only way we can succeed with this way of eating is if we plan our meals ahead and trial and error of things we like. For example if you know sweets is the thing you crave the most while eating this way, attempt to recreate some of the wonderful low carb versions until you find one you like that can curb your cravings. If i dont plan and organize what im going to have i fail. :) Good luck hun and keep posting. It really helps us to stay on track. x

Thanks focus. The thing is, I do plan and organise. I plan my meals a week ahead, and buy only that stuff at the supermarket, blah blah, make packed lunches. It just seems like I'm a teeny bit schizophrenic. Diet angel in the morning, diet monster later in the day. And no matter how hard the angel shouts, the monster wins. It isn't always like that but it has been the past few months.

I might have to go back to diet coke to quell the sugar ache, but that's rubbish for you too. And the sugar ache is supposed to go after a few days low carbing, isn't it? Really, it's an appalling drug and it should be classified alongside heroin for its addictiveness!

Yes, I know exactly what u mean by bland as it doesn't seem to absorb soup/sauce so much. That's why last time I have it, I stir fry it with some black bean, garlic and add a thicker sauce like Oyster sauce with it, so it does taste a lot better than say just soy sauce etc. But, I agree..can't beat a good singapore fried rice noodles!! :p

I'm doing well too, suprisingly!! Didn't crave much apart from sweet dessert/ biscuits but since I love cooking, I quickly refer to the recipes and made the spongy cake/bread last night, yummy! can't believe how quick it takes in the microwave! will deffo try the flax bread mentioned yesterday over the weekend.

I think it is deffo planning in advance to make this work..but for days that I've no time (like today), I quickly dash to M&S and bought prawns with dip and salad for lunch, always have mini cheddar in my handbag too just in case!

Anyway, off to see the Queen..can u believe it? She's in Cambridge today and got an invite thru work..what an unusual day!;)

Sarah i think we have all been there!! We start off with such good intentions and then end the day stuffed with carbs. As long as you keep trying i think it will eventually kick in and you will be back on the right mindframe for this. Dont make the mistake ive made and feel like i cant do it and give up completely only to come crawling back to this way of eating a month or two later with all the weight piled back on. Maybe try and identify what triggers the diet monster to come out. :)

Woo look at you!! Hope you have a nice time meeting the Queen. :D My problem is im not that great a cook so i attempt these low carb recipes most of the time they turn out to be a complete disaster. I think i just need to practice alot more. But i love this way of eating because when im eating junk and whatever i want i never actually feel full. And i do eating this way, strangely enough.

Thanks again for letting me know where to get those noodles, they arent as great as the real thing but they are the best thing ive had that come close to the real thing :) will definitely do some experimenting to find the best recipe for adding flavour.

I need to be more adventurous with my meats. Like more steak and lamb because most of the time i only ever eat chicken, pork and mince.

Hope you are all having a great low carb day, just had my lunch of chicken drumsticks and string beans, yum!!

OK. I know it's not ideal (esp for the IPD, which I'm allegedly doing) but I just ordered a bundle of stuff from the low carb megastore. Really not a fan of frankenfood but I desperately need something to reengage my interest in this diet, and the promise of a low carb slice of bread or a bisctuit at the end of theday might just do it for me. HJas anyone tried their freshly baked bread? I have some coming on Tuesday...

    I'm having the same problem.
Thing is though, if you can only make it past two days, you should be ok then, i no longer get cravings after 48hrs as all the carbs are out of your system (or so i read)
The first two are murder for me then i'm really good.
I'm not in the right frame of mind to practice what i preach unfortunately

Maybe for the first day or two, get some Atkins bars to help you through, then maybe by day three you will be stronger
Dunno if it'll work, is only a suggestion.

:rotfl: Hadnt read all the posts before i posted, great minds i think Sarah ;)

Focus, did you get those noodles online from the link Gers supplied?

The postage is a bit hefty but like lc megastore it seems if you order a larger amount the postage is the same. Might give them a go, why cant they sell these things in the shops, same with gluten, a fiver postage
