  • Thanks Mazzers! Not sure if they were the ones - all I remember is someone raving about their bread, giving it a few tries to perfect the recipe & posting a picture of it... It must have been when we had a few warm days as it was left to rise in a conservatory...? I didn't make a note of it at the time as bread was totally off my radar - had no interest in it at all. But since then it seems to be my staple & I hate it! Need a low carb alternative!

PS - I'm working at H&B, so I'll keep an eye out for good deals. There's a price squeeze on a few products over the next few days - I'll make a list & re-post tomorrow.

    Cheers m'dears!

    Hello everyone.

I'll put you on the guestlist when I make my 'trifle' Sweets.

Pinklover low carb macaroons sound great - yes please to the recipe.

I'm feeling really proud of myself because everything in the cake sale at work looked & smelt heavenly & I didn't have a single thing. There were scones with cream & jam, choc brownies, vanilla cupcakes, cookies, carrot cake, mince pies etc etc etc. There are only 7 of us & we raised £110 for Children in Need & there are some left over to sell tomorrow. I think that's pretty good.

I forgot to post my menu this morning.
B Mushroom, spinach & cheese omelette.
L Smoked mackerel salad & mayo.
D King prawns with avocado, salad leaves & mayo.

As a treat for resisting the cakes I'm having a vodka & slimline tonight. :D

My new Wii arrived yesterday & DH has been busy setting it up. Currently it's telling me my BMI is 25.6 which is only just outside of ideal but I want to get it down to 23 because I feel at my best there (& all my clothes fit me.) It also gave me a Wii age 11 years older than I really am. Looks like I need to work on the fitness! Me & DH are both aiming to lose a stone in 3 months.

    Bon nuit all. x

I think i know which bread you are on about but it didnt have flax in it, i think either Mercy or Mazzers brought a bread mixture from lowcarbmegastore.com to make it. This must have been awhile ago though, like July/Aug time.
  • Hey Focus

Thanks - it's driving me nuts trying to remember the description. I was convinced it was a "found" recipe & remixed to perfection. I've got a feeling I'm going to have to simply run through the entire thread to find it...

Good news - got a really cheap big joint of pork tonight, it will be going into the slow cooker tomorrow in an effort to re-start the low carbing! *drool*

    http://www.low-carb.org.uk/gabis.htm

its pictured with stewed strawberries and splenda, my 'jam'
Not a very good pic as the camera was old and i now make them in a loaf tin so nicer for sarnies.
It was the gluten i got from lcmegastore.
Is very close to wholemeal bread.

Can prove them by the radiators in this weather ;)

In a word. YUM! They're so much like a 'normal' chocolate sponge bun it's amazing. Mine didn't rise a great deal but I expect I was just a bit heavy handed with folding in the egg whites.
I'm imagining a sort of low carb trifle with one of these soaked in juice & fruit from some frozen mixed berries, a touch of brandy & topped with whipped cream. Now THAT sounds like a pudding to die for.

So glad you liked em! If you find yourself a little heavy handed you could just add a bit more baking powder? Also a little more tartar in the whites? Next to no carbs in the amounts we are using so either tyr that or just get better at 'folding' :)

Your trifle idea sounds amazing! do it and get back! Get it featured on the list :T

    Hi all! Bit tired

Ate well today, perm any from 4 on my meals, they don't vary much :)

Might not be here as much but will keep up and post most days. It's all gone busy but extra work today went well and we got a lot done. It's all new stuff we're doing and it's going much better than we could have imagined :) Think some of that's my fault as I insisted on doing things properly at R&D time :D They hated me then but LURVE me now :rotfl:

Also been told that as I'm 'gung-ho' overtimewise from the start I'll get first refusal on Sunday work should it come along :) Kerching!

So not all bad. May lose home time but could get that - whatever - at some point!

sweets - portion size? If you are finding it a bit big, reduce. You can always have a cracker n cheese if you are still hungry. Don't put yourself in the position of 'having' to eat it all if you are really full. Cos it isn't necessary.

Hi zero! nice to see you again! Take a browse of the recipe list on page 1. There's loads of ideas on there and you'll likely find stuff you fancy on there. Hope it does it for you!

    Hi mazz!

Big love to all low carbers!

That was the one I was thinking of, thank you! I don't know why I'd convinced myself that it was a flax loaf. Must be going mad! Ta!

Hi Daisy. Yes it does have a few small bones. Tesco do some boneless strips of smoked mackerel but it's quite a lot more expensive so I don't bother.

    Today I'm having;

B Mushroom, spinach & cheese omelette.
    L Chicken drumsticks & salad
D Salmon with cream cheese & veg - probably cauli & green beans.

Mercy I'll certainly let you know about the trifle & will try your tips next time I make the buns.

I was a bad boy last night, after losing about 2Kg in the last 3 weeks i was a bit down, as it is not all that much, but i am forgetting i was at the same point about 2 months ago and that it gains momentum after a while and the loss accelerates.

The only food on offer in the mess hall last night was beef with beans or pork with beans, so i did not even try to low carb it and just ate both, due to not being able to LC it, i also decided on a chocolate dessert(which was very nice).

I am keeping track of my weight and was plesently surprised this morning when i jumped on the scales, the following is from when i arrived at work almost 3 weeks ago:

    WEIGHT
    31-OCT-2009
    84.46Kg
    08 Nov 2009
    83.16Kg
    11-Nov-09
    82.8Kg
    14-Nov-09
    82.6Kg
    19-Nov-09
    81.7Kg.

So it is working again and i am more motivated to get back on it, my plan for this 4 week trip was to be under 80Kg, which i am very close to as i weigh myself in steel toe cap boots which are about 1.2Kg.

Hope everyone has a good LC day today.
