I had exactly the same problem then discovered pilates and it works wonders. wish i had discovered it when i was a teenager - if i had substituted the amount of time i spent doing the jane fonda workout for pilates i would actually have had the flat stomach i was aiming for!
If you have sky sports they have a daily half hour "Oz Style Aerobics" which is fantastic. It's actually 22 minutes without the adverts and alternates low intentisty cardio stuff, abs, legs or pilates, although the kickboxing ones are my favourite.
Diva tv does pilates and yoga, although that may not be showing at the mo. I've got loads copied so i haven't checked recently
Morning - thanks, but not got sky tv here. Pilates should be easy to find, though I have restarted swimming which is brilliant for core muscles. Holding in the fat is good for the muscles too.
Buying new clothes is a joy and I have to say I'm thoroughly delighted with the Per Una jacket (and yes, they do have bigger sizes so it's not all 'great' news) and I feel so motivated again.

And this is a jacket I've ordered and will collect on Tuesday:

I just love red! And I know I have now bought enough jackets to last this winter and the next one and the next one too. :j So, no more jackets until I'm TWO sizes smaller. :A
Today I've had a bowl of strawberries (they were just on the turn) and double cream with flax seed oil mixed through. Lunch will be chicken and probably evening meal too. Got to wind down the supplies as we're off on hols from next Thursday for 10 days. Yay! We go to a small cottage on the Argyll coast which is wild, remote, isolated and very very beautiful. No-one and nothing.
Must get showered and dressed.

It's very wild and cold and wet outside so may not step over the door.
Hope everyone is doing good.0 -
Cafe Andaluz
Can second the brilliance of this place.
My favourite eatery in Glasgow is The Bothy ( in the west end) where it's easy to eat LC though the hit on the purse is harder to take. Apart from the great food, the great setting and the great buzz a couple of the waiters wear kilts.:o
Just think about leaving out the carbs - burger and no bun, bolognaise and no pasta etc.0 -
HanSpan, thanks for that
No, you're not too late, we go on Thursday :j
Never been to a Tapas place, I've looked at the menu & it sounds lovely, think the kids will like it too. Not sure about the 'black pudding' though, is it the same as English black pudding, i.e. blood?! _pale_ Will give that a miss methinks!!
Will mention to hubby & see what he thinks about going there, think he's had tapas before & seem to remember he liked it. He was talking about just getting chips in Edinburgh earlier, duh!! :rolleyes:0 -
Gers, those jackets are lovely
Lucky you going to the Argyll coast for 10 days!! I'm soooooo jealous, that's the sort of thing I would love to do. Hope you have a fantastic time.0 -

Thanks! We love the west coast even when attacked by midges. And we love the small remote cottage and go at least twice a year for some restoration of the soul and relaxation of the mind. That and a barrel load of wine too!!Pilates should be easy to find
Found a workshop nearby and have just paid for the beginner introduction session. I used to have good core muscles and flexibility and can, even now, touch my toes and even get my hands flat on the ground without bending my knees (but not whilst hurting or pushing too far).
Just needed a push... thanks!
Will NOW get showered and dressed. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I haven't had time to read through the whole thread (Yet!) but I'm wondering how you do LC on a tight budget? I need to lose some weight and LC seems the way to go for me, but I'm worried that it's going to be tough on my food budget. Any advice?0

You will be saving a lot on crisps, sweets and bakery products. I have being picking up the special offers in veg in places like Lidl and Aldi. They seem to change weekly but there are usually some green veg on offer. Cheese is on offer in Lidl this week. There are usually offers on meat in both Tesco and Morrisons every week. Usually buy a few and freeze.0 -

I suspect it is blood like English Black pudding but its not the same at all. I really find normal black pudding a bit disgusting but this was very rich and almost crumbly. I wouldn't have ordered it but the OH loves black pudding and I loved it. The advantage with tapas is, if you don't like a dish you don't go without dinner - just that bit!
What sort of things do you and the kids like best? I bet the tapas place has something up your alley.sweetserendipity wrote: »Will mention to hubby & see what he thinks about going there, think he's had tapas before & seem to remember he liked it. Nononono. Flavourless, boring and makes me feel rubbish. The only thing that makes chips appealing is the smell of hot vinegar and the mayo you dip them in. Now I eat pickled onions or gherkins when I feel like it and mayo on whatever I fancy without guilt - chips I don't miss at all!0 -
Hey all, just popping in to say I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! If you remember I was giving LCing a rest for a few weeks to try out a new plan to try and alleviate my skin condition, and I do seem to be getting somewhere. Have been taking probiotic tablets to promote good bacteria and turmeric supplement which is a good anti-inflammatory apparently, and also trying to eat 'clean' and haven't had a proper outbreak in about 3 weeks. TBH I think it's the probiotics/turmeric that have helped more than the food (cos I haven't been totally strict) so I'm feeling optimistic that if I carry these on then it won't matter so much about the food.
Saying that, obv over the last few weeks I haven't been working towards my bodybuilding goals with the unsuitable food, so I want to get back to that. I've had a food plan given to me which is pretty limiting but I want to at least give it a go for a couple of weeks to see if anything seems to be happening. BTW if the word bodybuilding strikes fear in your heart, just google Jamie Eason and tell me you wouldn't want to look like that! She's my aspiration.
A bit of inspiration for you is that whilst I have felt good on a lack of skin problems level, this has been outweighed on a bloated and very very windy level! I have rediscovered fruit, especially dried fruit in a biiiiiig way which I don't think my digestive system has been especially pleased about! Didn't get any of that with LCing so that's a very good advert for it!
Anyhoo, not sure that I will be actively LCing for a bit longer but will still check in from time to time and keep and eye on you all! xxLittle lady arrived 13/12/110 -
Early morning here - it's all very well having the clocks go back but my body clock isn't so easily adjusted.
Still wild here but aim to hit the Metrocentre running, need to do one chore there and out again. Tomorrow I'm away again until Tuesday so no major packing or prep needed.
Breakfast was again a bowl of strawberries with cream and flax seed oil and very yummy. Last night was a bit of LC disaster - no excuses and no reasons, I just felt like it.Today I'm repeating the 'don't blink, don't even blink, don't close your eyes and whatever you do, don't blink' mantra.
Will go for a blustery walk later too - can nip over to Gibside and walk the Long Walk a couple of times. That should blast away the cobwebs, and the spiders too.
Happy Sunday to you all.0
