Mercy, many years ago we grew 4 chillis in individual pots on the front window, didnt realise they would take over, they filled the big bay window and we didnt need curtains either, looked a bit daft from outside mind :rotfl:
Had scores of chillis, my partner was a chilli freak but he couldnt eat them fast enough, dried lots too, a very successful crop
Thanks for the chorizo tip0 -
Hi all!
Been v busy last couple of days as have done a serious inventory of the cupboards/fridge/freezer.
threw out a few things I should have kept on top of, discovered many things I'd forgotten I had. Also found a couple of apparent obsessions :rotfl:
I currently own 5 full bottles of bleach, 8 full packets of 10 disposable razors, and 26 toilet rolls :rotfl:
I'm lucky enough to have a lot of storage space but unorganised enough to store the same thing in 2 or more places.
I thoroughly recommend doing this as an exercise. The fridge wasn't bad but there's enough stuff in the freezer to keep me going for a couple of weeks. (It's just a small one in top of fridge. 18 in high plus depth)
To make it easy I printed out a simple grid and headed them with 'cupboard' being audited.
I can now be more focussed when shopping. I can save money by buying what I really need, rather than sleepwalikng through the process. Well, that's the theory anyway :rotfl:
Happy to find I already had 2 full containers of plug hole unblocker, was just about to buy some moreSame with deodourant, can you see a theme emerging? :rotfl:
Also happy to have more room in the cupboards in general as I had a very large amout of barely there cleaning liquids. These are now being used up first etc.
Very MSE and thouroughly recommended!

Whilst obsessing
Lidl are advertising 24 charmin loo rolls for £6. I may well avail myself, I'll have 50 then! Hopefully then I will be able relax the bargain loo roll obsession I have developed until well into the new year
Not starting a national collection or owt, just think they'll come in handy :rotfl:

Particularly loved the bit about the engulfing fat!! I know exactly what you mean!!
Thanks - was a bit on a positive mission this morning but it's exactly how I feel. It's like I've been given a fat suit and can't move, am trapped and hindered and stuck. So... how can I even reach the begging zip and start to remove it. EAT LOW CARB!
Today in M&S I had to queue next to a big stand full of chocolate fudge cakes and coffee walnut cakes (2 for £3.00) and felt the waves of temptation flooding me. "I can have a feed day today and get back on track tomorrow" 'One whole cake won't be a problem, I've been so good before now'! Aaaargh. It was like sitting on the edge of a big king-sized bed with the most luscious, tasty, juicy and gorgeous bloke (insert your favourite one here) beckoning me to take my clothes off and jump on his bones!!:o I had to wrestle from the back of my brain 'What do I want more? To have the oral satisfaction of a whole coffee walnut cake and remain fat or keep on the way to a slimmer. healthier and more desirable person?' Fat and orally satisfied almost won.. but the queue moved forward!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Upwards is difficult but downwards is even more difficult!
Pollyana rules! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollyanna"When you look for the bad expecting it, you will find it."
The novel's success brought the term "Pollyanna" (along with the adjective "pollyannaish" and the noun "Pollyannaism") into the language to describe someone who seems always to be able to find something to be "glad" about no matter what circumstances arise.0 -
Sounds just like my house Mercy, i discovered enough shower gel for months today and was thinking of getting some.
I too am really unorganised, i need someone to come and organise my cupboards.
I bought a lovely old oak cabinet last year and its almost empty, but other cupboards are jam packed, I have no get up and go anymore
Gawd help when i'm in my sixties
Ooh, what a horrid thought
Only seems a few years ago i was in my twenties :rolleyes:0 -
I totally agree! As soon as you are in the zone - and anything can set us off - it's imperative to build on that and so it grows. You're an inspiration and a very welcome positive influence! :T
Cheers hunni!
Thanks too!
Brick by brick and course by course... gosh! It's too easy to feel negative, it's a real b*****r to keep on track but this thread and the people who populate it help me.

So, the opposite of Pollyannaism is...................
Mazzerism :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Got 10 aerosols of deodorant in the kitchen bought cos they were BOGOF.
Got a 3 litre bottle of Dr Bonner's castile soap cos it's lovely
Got enough wine to float HMS Ark (stored all over the house)
Can't tell you anymore cos I'd have to die of shame!0 -
Got enough cobwebs to fill a haunted house0

I really suggest you do the inventory. I too found 2 nice shower gels I didn't know I had, and a full hair conditioner I love. I've been making do with a lesser one til I could get to the shops :rotfl:
It took me 3 days, 1 or 2 'cupboards' (hoarding spaces) at a time. Not even gone through the misc cupboard yet but have put 4 light bulbs in there that I hadn't previously been aware of
Feel more in control and that it's my choice to own 50 loo rolls, not a compulsion :rotfl: HonestI remember when I used to run out! That'l not happen for a while. I'll probably find sometime in April I have run out there'l be none in the house :rotfl:
