AllyS, why don't you try the Idiot Proof Diet? It's a kind of laid-back Atkins, and you don't need to count grams of carbs.
  • Hello Ally :hello: You are right to get as much info on low-carbing before you even think about starting. Paula & alias have pretty much summed it up for you & there's loads of hints & tips on this thread (& the older, much bigger one which is accessible from Sazbo's first post on this thread).
I can recommend the recipe section on page one as well plus some of us post daily menus which can give you an idea of what/how much you can eat.
For packed lunches I would say Mercy's Mexican Fudge - tastes good hot & cold & tis very filling. Also, cold cooked sausages, pork steaks etc. You do need to be organised with preparation, shopping etc. Anyway, good luck if you decide to go ahead with it. :D

Aw, alias, alias, alias, cheer up chuck!! I think the same thing has happened to you as with mazzers. This IF thing has somehow affected you. Maybe it stalls you to begin with but as your body gets used to it you start losing again? Anyway, you have done fantastic without it *goes off to find mazzer's 'I'm not worthy' smilie :rotfl: * so why not give IF a rest for now & think about doing it another time.
  • Well a quick update after my crap week last week of all the carbs I ate in that chinese meal I then felt like crap for ages and was craving carbs and put 3 pound on. Well so far this week I have lost the 3 pounds and also 2 1/2 pounds but the week is up on Friday. Been really good all week and not had any carbs I should not have had and feel great. Heres to summer
sw start date 23/09/2013 4 st 8 pounds to go....as of 21/10/13 not 3 stone 7 to go for first target. updated 18/11/13 now 2 stone 10lbs to go to first target.

Morning folks, been busy putting glass 'frosting' on a roll on my conservatory door, what a good effect it gives, delighted with the result and easy to do too :j

Hi ally, i'd not heard that about carb addicts either, I certainly used to be one (completely addicted to bread) and not had any for over five weeks as once you get carbs outta your system you dont get the cravings. The trouble with carbs is that they raise blood sugar and after couple of hours when it starts to fall again you are starving and thats what made me overeat then, but LC stabilises blood sugars so you dont get so hungry ( I hardly ever feel hungry).
There is a recipe for flax bread and i think that is brill for a packed lunch as it's very bread like ( like wholemeal-ish) and you can fill with usual diet no-no's (mayo, lots of meat, cheese, bacon, creamy coleslaw, tuna-mayo, etc)

Alias, my cholesterol is low too 3.5 last time i had a test so would be nice to get another.
As for IF, i read almost to bottom of page (hundreds of posts) but seems the most negative were on the bottom which i read last night, and seems you have to eat well on your 'eat' days and i dont think i was having enough. Also it seems, some people are having the opposie effect of what you should get (increase in insulin resistance - not good- and raised blood sugar amongst other things) so i dont think its for everyone and i'm not risking it anymore.

    Sorry for the essay:o

P.S. for any of you that want different free smilies just copy and paste from here

  • Oh me bum, me legs & me hands!! All feeling very sore!! :rotfl:
Been out on the bike again!! Did the same route as last night so about 30 minutes but seemed to go a bit quicker this time. My hands were freezing though - where has the sunshine gone?! It was also quite a bit busier, lots of people walking dogs, so felt a bit more conspicuous this time (fat bird on bike!! :o ). Ah well, if it helps me to lose weight then it's got to be worth the humiliation hasn't it?!

    Sweet, dont be ashamed :rotfl:

They do break, the pedals can be flimsy and the screws shear off. Is quite common unless you get a really good one:rotfl:

If mine breaks i dont mind saving for a good one as its brill to use.

Good on you sweet :T (oh Im coming up pink, not sure why) you go for it. Youve given me the courage to call the gym as Im not ready to pull my old bike out, it must be 10 years since it last saw the light of day.

My cholestorol was high (9.4) and was put on simvastatin so hoping to try and stop them after reading some of the info.

Alias sorry you are not feeling great today sounds like it could be the fasting:confused: give it up.

Welcome Ally although Im losing at a very slow rate I do feel a lot better on LC than I did before. I was always bloated and sluggish.
