my coconoil came today, looking forward to trying it!!!

B- scrambled eggs and slice of edam
L - Beef salad with horseradish mayo
Snack - spoon coleslaw and more yummy edam

I thought you might be interested in what a LC diet has done for my cat! Last year she was quite overweight and her teeth were very badly scaled - the vet wanted to anaesthetise her and clean them but my sisters dog had just died of that so I was very reluctant. My other cat eats 'wet' catfood and has no weight or teeth problems whereas this one has always eaten only the dry food - I bought one of the expensive brands, not the cheapo stuff. Anyway, when I looked at the ingredients it was clearly a lot higher in carbohydrate and lower in protein than the wet stuff - 'rice and chicken' rather than 'chicken and rice'. It seemed mad that I was feeding a carnivorous animal on a high carb diet when I was lcing myself, so I stopped the dry food and made her switch. She didn't like it at first, but got used to it in a week or so. A year later she has just been back to the vet; she is no longer overweight and one side of her mouth is completely cleared up and the other side is just 'a little scaled' - when the vet looked back at the previous year's notes she was clearly taken aback at the difference.

Given that adverts often recommend dry food as keeping the teeth cleaner because of the greater friction of chewing it, this is a pretty amazing recommendation for a LC diet, I think!

Mmm, our cat eats wet food too, I do leave dry food if we're out for a long time, but he'd sooner wait for me to return, as he's not fond of it.

My mum's cat was fed on dry food for years, courtesy of the advice from the rescue centre. A yhoo, she never much liked being picked up, she often seemed uncomfortable and became incontinent quite suddenly. I suggested a urinary tract infection, which the vet confirmed, a course of antibiotics helped, but she needed a littler tray for the first time in years.

Not long after her initial problems, a piece of her innards popped out. Back to the vet who popped it back, diagnosed severe cystitis, more antibiotics. Lots of weight loss, back and forth until an operation to remove the offending piece of ....whatever it was that kept popping out. I suggested it was the dry food causing her urine problems, the vet reluctantly confirmed that in some cats urine infections and cystitis were more common on a dry diet.

£500 and a high meat content cat food (I think it's called Nature's Own and it's 70% meat) and mum now has a happy, healthy contented cat. But the poor thing must have suffered for years with an undiagnosed condition due to dry food. I'd certainly never give it to my animals.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Evening, been rubbish yesterday and today with LO in hospital. Her op went quite well and she is out but on strict rest at the moment, very unimpressed 5 year old:p
Nipped to shops once she got home though and stocked up on lots of lovely lc food.

    Hope everyone is well:D

    Hi all!

My cats eat kitekat tins and purina biscuits, in any amount they prefer. Newton is 14 and you'd never guess that :) Sherlock (~10) is a BIG black shiny puss, but not fat. We can find his spine but his ribs are well upholstered :rotfl: (always have been) I put out 1-1.5 tins a day and biscs are munched as and when by both. They get sardines drained of oil once a week and a fresh fish or chicken dinner as well. They are in rude health :rotfl:

They don't really eat much, considering their sizes and I think they self regulate. (getting on a bit, sleeping more - eating less generally)

I've never had a fat cat. I have had one with a fetish for chillis and another with a greedy nature but a rubber band stomach :rotfl:

Maybe I've been lucky? I've only ever had kittymogs rather than a 'breed'.

All down to genetics I reckon. Some are more suceptible (sp?) than others?

    Thanks mazzers, focus888, sotonsaverjen

    Hi everyone

Good day today, no brekkie as I overindulged on a HM curry night before. Lovely lunch of basil roasted chicken, avocado and celery with a thick greek yoghurt dressing mmm. Dinner was HM burgers, HM salsa, olive oil and greek yoghurt dressing. That stuff is so good yum! Dessert? Cup of tea, milk no sugar and a nice pedicure. Felt rather more energetic today than normal and now for an early *for me* night!

    How y'all doing?

Gave DH a gorgeous salad with ham and prawns for tea. He had apple and cheese for lunch, too hot for breakfast.

G&B, so glad to hear your daughter's op went well, she must be a worry for you, best wishes to her & hope she's able to be up & about soon.

Been busy, busy last few days but decorating is mostly finished, now have a blood red feature wall!! Very gothic, lol!!

Just been on wii fit for my body test but wish I hadn't bothered - another 2lbs on - I now have 1 stone & 3lbs to lose until I'm 'overweight' - not good

But, the above is to be ignored today, tis my birthday :shhh: so will be getting breakfast in bed (croissants & fresh fruit salad with madagascan vanilla cream, yum yum, can't wait, only a few hours to go ) Having a day out today with picnic (don't ask :o) followed by a naughty dinner (definitely don't ask!! :o:o)

Anyway, big waves to everyone, sounds like you are all doing great!! Welcome to newbies, I'm the one in the low-carb naughty corner but I'll be joining you in the low-carb smarty pants corner soon, I hope!!

:iloveyou: all you lovely low-carb peeps *insert big, but tired, cheesy (tis low-carb) [STRIKE]grimace[/STRIKE] grin* I'm going back to bed now
