  • Just to mention that it's quite normal to put on weight after a cheat day/meal, but after about 3 days or so you should lose it again and maybe even more as your metabolism will be revved up, so no need to panic!

I'm starting again after a few days away, trying to stick to my 3 days low 1 day high plan. Will be reading through the thread for food inspiration, although I'm probably eating a lot more protein than most people for the muscle-retaining aspects.

It's definitely tempting to check the scales every few days but I try and stick to the mirror and clothes fitting for a better idea of progress, especially as a lot of the initial loss is likely to be water. It is nice to see numbers on the scales that you're not used to though!

  • I feel quite rough this afternoon, not sure if its my body shifting this nasty cold or my lack of food and water today.

I had 2 eggs for breakfast
1 coffee with cream around lunch time as met a friend in town
1 cheese stick and prawns with mayo from M&S about 4pm

    no water... silly me

now I feel very faint and my tummy is gurgling like it does when my IBS is bad. I've drunk a pint of water and will do so again in half an hour to hydrate but its been a real warning to make sure I drink enough and eat properly... its just so hard when you're out and the coffee shop only do sarnies :(

hopefully I will regain some energy and my tummy will chill out now I've drunk some water. I'm also going to have an early tea to avoid feeling faint.

It could also have been the trip to the dentist that made me feel queesy!! I have to have a very deep filling replaced next month (eeeek!)

hope you are all feeling better than me today... I have learnt my first low carb lesson.... eat properly and for gods sake keep drinking water!!! haha

    xx

    Hi all!

focus - I can't see duck itself being a problem. Suppose it depends if it's cooked with a lot of sugar or what you eat with it?

suemagoo - nice to see you on here again! It's been posted a few times on here that getting new scales makes you heavier :rotfl: It happened to me too! Also my parents had a similar wake up call a few years ago. Think the older style ones that work on a spring get stretched :)

My new ones are all singing, all dancing fat content ones but despite me programming just one of the 4 people options into it it always reverts to 'standard' (which is a good bit shorter than me :() Will have to programme ALL the options to my details - lets see it go wrong then :rotfl:

Happy to announce my 2.5 lb loss has stabilised for 2 weeks now, so looks like it's gone for good :j

Now to tackle the other 4.5lbs :)

As a note on the revved up metabolism thing.

I only lost for the first time in ages when I started having more carbs occasionally (but regularly) in the form of fish and peas.

I followed this (after initial loss but still yoyoing a bit) by not touching any alcohol which contains carbs in the week. (cider, wine etc) I have the odd voddi but as a shot followed by a glass of lime water, or make a vodi/lime/soda.

You see, I know that the alcohol can stall us (it must be cleared first) but I quite like a drinky after the rubbish of work (time to time). :rotfl: Seems a small vod is less disasterous than a carb laden cider! Who'd've thought? :rotfl:

When I do get to go out at the weekend I drink strongbow. By the bucket. I have done this once each saturday for the last 3 weeks (more often than usual) and have kept the weight off. For me at least it seems that some exposure to carbs helps me deal with them better.

Not really for those starting out but for the ones amongst us who have been lcing for 12 months or more the revved up metabolism theory is worth a go.

  • You have to remember that the body is a very clever machine and is extremely adaptable at responding to changes that we put it through. So whatever diet/eating regime you are on, your body will get used to it after a time and start making adjustments to stop the weight loss which it sees as damaging. This is what most people know as a plateau so this is the time that you need to make changes to kick you body into losing weight again. These changes can be various things including upping the cardio/exercise you are doing, adding a weights/resistance workout, or throwing in something different food-wise such as a cheat meal/day.

Hopefully then you will get through your plateau and your body will go for another period of successful weight loss before you need to mix it up again. Obviously if you have a cheat meal each week or do a cycling system, you (theoretically anyway!) never have to change your plan as you are constantly mixing it up.

Before along time ago when i originally ate low carb i had an occasional cheat day and i agree it helped me i mean at first you have a weight gain but then the next few days it comes off easily. You learn to expect a gain everytime you cheat but if you go straight back on plan then you will definitely lose it and more. The problem is however that if you dont get right back on plan and one cheat day turns into a cheat week then you will gain so much weight that you wont have the motivation to get back on track. Its a risk but if you have a good willpower its worth a go.

    I agree so much!

Luckily I don't cheat much and prefer lcing to any other way. My cheats are occasional meals out and cider. Mostly I just lcing like a good'un!

Have in the past lost my way with a week or two of bingeing tho :o So I reiterate the warning above!

    Morning everyone

i`ve just eaten a small piece of belly pork with spices on to keep the hunger at bay :D

Brekkie today is the last of the bacon, 2 sausage and 2 scrambled eggs

Dinner is chicken drumsticks and tea is tuna & coriander and buttered cabbage.

For snacks i have salami & cheese and a tin of either sardines or mackerel in oil.

I managed to get out of the bathroom this morning without getting on the scales :j i shall have a sneaky peek tomorrow though i think :D

Suemagoo - if my scales did that i`d probably break them or take them back lol

Agree with peeps about the carby day and then cutting them out again, it worked for me many years ago. I shall do this again in a couple of weeks if/when i stop losing.

    Have a good day everyone

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

weighed myself this morning and had gained 2.5lbs not happy but i know it isnt because i cheated with that bar of chocolate ive been staring at for the last 3 days lol. its probably water retention. gonna be extra good today to flush it all out my system.

Am so tired today because the last few days have been increasing my activity level, not major but alot more walking around. Now my feet drag on the floor lol.
