I'm a tad concerned that I'm going to make my boyfriend fat!!

We started the induction on Tuesday and he has had one banana everyday because he wouldn't let me throw them out and I felt awful telling him he couldn't have things.

Apart from that he's eaten exactly the same as me, all verry low carb. Is this going to stop him losing any weight? Or will it just hinder him a little? There are no more bananas left so he won't be having any more.

I'm moving back to my parents on sunday (credit crunch student woes!) and leaving him to do it alone - if he doesn't think he's losing weight I know he'll give up.....

what do you think? will it just slow things down?

On a brighter note I'm enjoying our food!!

    B - 2 bacon rashers and a fried egg
L - Oopsie and hamburger with cheddar and mayo, with cabbage and radish coleslaw
D- we will be having tuna steak and prawns in coconut milk, lemon/lime juice, ginger with salad or green beans

your advice for my banana boyfriend would be good! x

I don't think the daily banana will upset things too much. Your daily food looks good, if you are coming out of general (major) carb consumtion then the benefits should outweigh the nana situation :D

It's not an easy transition to low carb, don't sweat the small stuff.

If you read Dr Dahlqvists notes (link on front page) It will hopefully reassure you. Maybe your bloke needs a slightly slower intro? Will still work.

Soton, the banana is very high in carbs.

It will probably stop weight loss the low carb way, although we are all different and maybe he can tolerate the odd banana.

It has approx 27g carbs and on induction you are only allowed 20 g per day.

A single apple can ruin it for some people too, also grapes are a bad choice.
  • thanks! hopefully now there are none left it will kick start for him, I think its working for me though only time will tell...

I've re-read the Dr D notes which has reassured me and I understand mazzers what you're saying about the fruits.

No more fruit in our house! Until induction is over that is and we can have berries mmmmmmm

    thank you :)

Yeah, thinking about it if Atkins is the way for you guys, it is a little excessive.

However, the nanas are out the equation soon and it is moneysaving not to throw away food :rotfl:

I've never done Atkins by purpose though I think I've been 20g or lower on many an occasion.

It is true that if you are following a plan you should stick to it. If you don't you can't complain if you don't see the expected results.

I did Dr D at first, found it easier while I lost my love of carbs.

Now I'm much more low carb as I actually prefer it.

Morning Everyone its Saturday and it should be my day off but I've had a horrendous week and its all down to those damn female hormones:mad:.Feel free to ignore this post but I feel the need to rant and OH is sick of me ranting at him so thought this would be an appropriate place so here goes.

I had my usual day off last Saturday and pigged out.Not any more than I usually do but I put 4lbs on when I weighed myself on Sunday:eek:I usually put 2lbs on max so I was horrified and then I realised that Aunt Flo was due soon so the extra weight was due to that. But still a shocker. As a result of this and the arrival of AF I have spent all week being a good girl and I've got up this morning and put another half pound on so on the week I am 2lbs still up on last week:eek:.I know it will come off and its just fluid bloating but it isnt half annoying and disheartening. So today instead of my usual pig out I will be boringly being a good girl and drinking loads hoping that the dam will break and my excess fluid will find the exit route:D.Sorry for letting off steam girls but this week is the hardest to cope with and I cant be on my own with these problems so anyone who has just started LCing might read this post and not get disheartened when it happens to them. Then again they might lose their rag with their scales like I did and whizz them down the stairs in a fit of pique:rotfl:.An expensive temper tantrum I know but the satisfaction of seeing the hateful things laid in pieces is immeasurable.Hmm maybe I'm taking the LCing lark just a little too seriously:rotfl:

Decided to have my weigh in on a Saturday morning, and glad to say I;m losing again although slowly. Today 17st 10lbs, I think that's the lowest I've been since my daughter was born 15 years ago.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

Leslie, i'm a victim of my hormones too, even my youngest son says 'totm mum?' and he's always right :rotfl:

Had a good day in work, my helpful colleague going on holiday has been beneficial to me, i was obviously relying on him too much.

My eldest is still determined to move, and still saying his things are for the skip.
Bloody get on with it then.

Am really good lcing on workdays, so been very good today.
Its been a long day, up at 7.30 and working til 7pm, then a bit of shopping, so i've only been in an hour, therefore, i have got to have a sleep :o
