Lol, have you got your parents lcing too then:D I got my mum on to it, she is doing so well. Not sure on he weight as her scales are dodgy, she's sent my dad to buy a decent set. She has lost 4 inches off her waist in 3 weeks though and is chuffed to bits.
Well done to your parents and you, that is a great amount of weight to lose.

It was actually my Mum's idea. I've done it before, Atkins, IPD etc, but this one is a bit different. Name a diet and I'll have done itI know its still early days, but I dont want to kill someone for a bag of crisps or chocolate.
Good on you and your Mum :j:j:j What is your target?0 -
The family has a inherited genetic problem with the males having increased tricylerides levels and have now lost 3 close members to directly related conditions.
Triglyceride buster update
in these posts Dr Davis is pointing out the benefits of HIGH DOSE omega 3.
This guy took 3600 mg of omega-3s per day.
Remember that is OMEGA 3 totals EPA + DHA = 3600mg and not the fish oil amount.
If you were taking a fish oil liquid like this it would be just under 3 teaspoons daily.
Zipvit do a cheaper product KEEP IN FRIDGE once opened and never let it get to room temperature.
If you opted for a concentrated capsule such as this containing 1000mg of Omega 3 Fish Oil providing: Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 449mg, Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 257mg,= 706mg each it would be around 5 capsules daily. 5 x 706 = 3530.
If you have a problem with fishy burps then put the capsules in the freezer and swallow them frozen, by the time they defrost they will be past the burp point.
Krill oil may also be good for triglyceride busting and weight loss
bit pricey in the UK
but providing you keep under the £18 customs threshold these aren't too bad particularly if you use a $5 discount code from the Referrals boards.
If you read the comment following Dr Davis blogs you will I see point out that Vitamin D3 is also a triglyceride buster. and 5000iu/daily should be sufficient to keep most UK adults above the level associated with most chronic disease incidence
You may not be aware that almost everyone with diabetes is both vitamin D and magnesium deficient.
Low magnesium levels also lead to high triglycerides. Raising your vitamin D3 status will allow magnesium levels to improve but only if you have good magnesium food sources. Modern grains have lower magnesium levels than previously was the case. these would be fine if you follow Krispin's advice
These are cheaper and probably fine.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I've been moping around all morning thinking, "woe is me, I have no food in the house - how will I drag myself to the shops?"...
Then I sauntered into the sunny garden (in my pyjamas) and found:
- Fresh eggs from my chickens
- Ripe rhubarb (the plant is ENORMOUS)
- Ready-to-pick raspberries

In post #3267 I pointed to the point in Taubes lecture in which he was pointing out the dangers of Fructose. High Fructose Corn Syrup and it's derivatives are to be found in most commercially prepared foods now.
Although this may be a Is Fructose Dangerous?Fructose-Induced Changes of Gene Expression and Carbohydrate and Lipid Metabolism
bit technical for some it does explain some of the ways in which fructose is so bad for us.
Although the underlying mechanisms of these fructose effects are yet to be elucidated, these discoveries have several implications. First, they reinforce the idea that high consumption of dietary fructose leads to high level of liver glycogen and triglycerides. Even if a person fasted after consuming fructose, his VLDL triglyceride level would still be high as a result of VLDL clearance. These effects could potentially culminate in development of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other aspects of metabolic syndromes. Having identified more fructose-induced changes in gene expression, these genes and/or their encoded proteins can potentially serve as effective targets for new drugs and treatments.
So is fructose dangerous? By demonstrating the hazardous changes in gene expression induced by high consumption of dietary fructose, Koo et al. (2008) say yes.
It may help you to understand the significance of how food alters genes by reading what
Robert Andrew Brown said here
Food alters gene expression in a big way.
It looks like cells subtly alter their function to adapt to new "Chords" of gene expression.
This is called epigenetics and involves structural change that is fixed and transmitted during cell reproduction until circumstances again change, and is inheritable but does not involve genetic change to the DNA.
So an infant can inherit the influence of diet through two generations eg the creation of the egg bank of the mother whilst the mother is being gestated in the grandmother
Imagine a piano that subtly redesigned itself if you played bass cords with a predominance of certain notes so those cords produced a better quality of sound.
IF piano reproduced that subtle difference would carry forward to the next generation. But if a new player came along that used a different note preference the piano would re adapt.
Birds and insects have been show to exhibit minor genetic adaptations to food in quite short time frames. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Oh dear. Fell off the icing wagon yesterday, into a chasm filled with chips and had to eat my way out. Then I had to follow a trail of chocolate to get home.
I am feeling quite annoyed with myself , and strangely not hungry, but thats probably because I've been sleeping off the carbs all day.
Alias -I am in serious need of motivation too. Really, just looking in the mirror should be enough motivation but it usually just sends me to the fridge.skintscotslass wrote: »Morning all
I think I need to investigate some veggie recipes. I'm getting a bit bored with so much meat. Also DD told me that I smell of meat  Am now paranoid.
That made me laugh so much.
If i eat anything with garlic on it the smell seems to seep out of my pores! Really freaky. I wonder what kind of meat you smell like? If you start to get bears and wolves assembling outside your house you should start to worry."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. I was very pleased today to be able to try clothes on in a 'normal' clothes shop. It was a very big pat on the back for meThere is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0
