Hey all, hope your all well, glorious sunshine here ooop north in Yorkshireland:j
Been v strict with myself low carb wise for about a week now, after gradually putting weight back on. BUT, do any of you limit the amout of low carb food you eat? As long as I'm strict with 'what' I eat can I eat as much as I lilke?
I'm doing Dr D's plan and it's not very specific on amounts per day.
For example I had this yesterday - is it too much?
Breakfast - fried egg, slice of ham, tomato
Lunch - mixed greeen salad with mayo & chopped boiled eggs - big portion
Dinner - big green salad with tuna mayo - big portion
Snacks - 5 low carb sausages:eek:
Only about a stone over my ideal weight so haven't got tons to lose but not sure if I'm eating too much (esp snack wise?)0 -
Avstar, i was always under the impression you could eat as much as you like as long as its lc, but, i'm surprised at how the carbs mount up.
Yesterday, 3 mugs of tea, 4 fl oz cream, ( for cooking and in tea/coffee ) a cup of spinach and 40g cheese came to 16.6g carbs on fitdayand thats without the rest of my food.
So it is surprising how it adds up, my carbs have been 40-50g daily, but.. my actual calories are low considering i have high fat food.
The last few days have been around 1300 which shocks me as i have always found it difficult to stick to that when eating carbs.
I'm also supposedly burning 2540 a dayso no wonder i'm losing weight. (not quickly enough for my liking tho)

Well, we all need so many calories to tick over, depending on height/weight/age - RMR, plus lifestyle, (work, housework) plus excercise, it all adds up. Have put all mine into fitday and its calculated for you, and i always under-estimate, eg, got my lifestyle as seated all day, (which i'm not... honest) then work i've got as 'light work while standing' (which i am) then, my cross trainer
So.. providing i can trust fitday, viola'
Sign up, its free, and is great.
Oh, and i dont eat in work, there's rarely anything lc, and i'm rarely hungry, so i just have a cuppa and sometimes a piece of cheese.0 -
Hmm Mazzers, is fitday an american site?
I know they calculate their carbs differently that the UK. Cos 16g of carbs form some cream, veg and cheese sounds wrong to me?0 -
Oilatum - amazing stuff! I also found an old decanted pot of "After Sun" which had fermented slightly and used that... so can't truly place the praise...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

hya all, hope everyone is well
It was interesting to see a few of us have been tired recently, over the past few weeks I've had bags of energy, well when I say bags of energy I mean that I've not felt the need to crawl into my bed as soon as I get home from work, which I've been known to do quite often!!!!
The past few days I've been really tired though. I've been putting it down to the muggy weather here in Central scotland.
Over the wekend I was really good (except for the usual wine.on Saturday.....though I had vodka for a change on Friday night:D
BBQ on Sat, I avoided the potato salad, bread , rolls etc so felt very virtuous, Sunday , wasnt really hungry, eggs for breakfast/brunch and chicken stirfry for lunch/tea
Monday:eek::eek::eek:
B 2 sliced sausage
L snack pack of cathedral city
D 1/2 large packet of peanuts........and a 1 litre tub of Mackie's honeycomb ice cream:eek::eek: and a late night slice (well 2 slices) of pizza
I'm pretty sure I'm due to come on soon, thats the only reason I can think of that I craved ice cream, I never have ice cream in the house cos I dont really like it. When my 2 were wee I always used to forget to buy it:rotfl:
and boy am I suffering today ......my gallbladder's contracting like mad, tho
Straight to Morrisons from work to buy more beetlejuice:rotfl:my daughter called it that today and I liked the sound of it (beetroot juice)
I felt a wee bit like a jakey, swigging it from the bottle in the carpark!!!!! but the ache has eased a lot....thank goodness
Sorry for the long post but its either a feast or a famine with me:rotfl:cheerio hen0 -
opinions wanted ....
my gorgeous daughter is very fair blond hair blue eyes burns easily and never tans and has been having problems in the sun since she was about 5 - shes 13 now
after a few days on holidays she gets horrible pricky heat that makes her very miserable and anti h's dont seem to help her or so she says
ive also experimented with the sun creams that are supposed to help with this - simple etc
ive decided to to give her a small dose of vitamin d to try and help her sun sensitivity - what do you reckon ?
its def helped me with getting a tan and not burning - although i dont want her worrying about a tan - even tho she is - but i want to stop her getting the horrible itchiness if i can
am i doing the right thing ? dont really like the thought of giving children supplements:j MFi3 wannabee :j

Hi (again) Daisy :hello:
I have the same problem so I'd be interested to hear what you find out. Don't use anithistamine cream though as my pharmacist friend says it just blocks the pores, tablets are better. I use factor 50 sunscreen with UVA 5stars and try to keep out of the sun as much as possible (i've tried all sorts of creams) . She may be better with gradual exposure, increasing duration each time. My sister was photosensitive so mum did this with her and now she tans quite well.
P.S maybe it is related to our exposure to chlorine from the swimming pool? Seems weird we have those two things in common. I used to train 5 times a week. (minimum)"I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -
:hello:Hello everyone else!
Back to icing chat...
MiniHM -weird you've been tired, today I've been super perky. I've been cleaning/sorting out stuff all day since 6am, and just stopped now. I must have sapped your energy. (*backs away so you can't have it back*)
Hope your gallB feels more comfortable soon. That's probably why you are so tired, it reduces your absorption of nutrients from your food.
Haven't eaten very well today though, too distracted, ate veggies in a wholemeal wrap and my tum is feeling it now. I feel like I'm hovering above the sofa. TMI? Maybe that is what the pant acid is for sweet.
That'll teach me to eat carbs.
P.S what's a jakey? Is it like a !!!!!? We'll all be speaking in a Scottish accent soon."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0
