We have had sunshine all day
Car was like a greenhouse earlier & had to have the air-con on!! Funny weather. Tis forecast rain for tomorrow though.
marrow, hope you feeling better now.
Vote for any sour sweets for me, luv em!!
focus, you are tempting me with this yummy sounding almond cake!!
mazzers, I do feel very tired on low-carb, lacking in energy etc. but not sleepy tired like you seem to be iyswim?? Are you taking all your vitamin supplements now?? The right dosage as well?? Eating enough?? Drinking enough water?? Do I sound like your mother?? :rotfl:
SSS, if mazzers hasn't replied by the time I finish this post, no she's not a veggie. Don't think you should have iron supplements when low-carbing?? I know when you get the multi-vitamins you have to get the ones that don't have iron included. I know tiredness is associated with anaemia & maybe that needs to be considered, maybe another blood test??0 -
Vitamin B complex is usually the culprit for tiredness. B12 in particular is stored up and used over 2-year periods, so if you regularly take too little you will eventually run out and start to compromise your immune system.
However, if you eat plenty of meat and dairy, this is unlikely to be an issue. If you might be low on B12, marmite (both as a spread and a drink) is the answer
Of course, it could be a number of others as well - Vit C has to be replenished every single day so don't forget to have something containing this, like brocolli or fruit. Great if you take supplements but I'm always wary - you need to absorb them in "natural" proportions, taken with food and water. Otherwise they may just go straight through you.
Mazzers, I know you're fully up to speed with nutrition so I'm a bit worried about you and think you should get a blood test. What if you're having thyroid issues or something? I'm thinking of the "post-viral fatigue" I've suffered a couple of times in the past (due to a bout of glandular fever), which were only combatted by high doses of B12.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Thanks for the input folks.
If fitday is to be trusted, seems i'm getting multiple times the rda of most things, except pant acid and potassium, which i'm getting 50% rda (altho i do take a potassium supplement) now i dont know if there is a discrepancy between the UK and USA rda guidelines but i added everything as a percentage as was required.
B12 in abundance, and enough iron without the vit/mineral pill.
Also, seems i'm getting 2.5 -- 3 litres of water a day, (must be from coffee, tea and bottled)
Could do with a nutritionist checking out the site to see how accurate it is.
I suppose a blood test is the order of the day
Oh and i got a large weekly pill dispenser and it's great, so much more convenient.0 -
Good morning all!
Hey -i'm first for a change. Yippee! :j"I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -
Anyway, where was I....
Mazzers, hope you feel more perky soon. My GP said my sleepiness was due 1. to meds, 2. to iron (have a look at the rim of your eyes, should be pink, if white you are anaemic) 3. due to IR. Now my sugars are more in control (thanx to Icing not to medication I may add!) I have much more energy. In fact I am super perky this morning -been up since 5.30 and already got loads done. (usually I can't wake up even after 12 hours sleep and fall asleep at the drop of a hat!)
Can I just add the corriander is nasty. Tastes like soap. meh meh meh! Ruined a good salad yesterday. Tasted like I was eating fairy liquid.
Hope you all have a nice sunny, warm and rain/hailstone free day today.
(its already hot here)

Oh, I so should have stayed a nurse - I'm a genius! Treated my extensive sunburn last night and woke up this morning with a relaxed tan. No more pain :j Just in time for tonight's hot date, too...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Daisy......Something that turned her hips purple. :rotfl:
I spent hours last night catching up with the lodger thread.Better than a book Badger!
You must be much much more of a people person than me, I wouldn't have the patience for all those different characters.
Maz....get thyself to the Doc for a check up. If there's nothing up then you can mull over what vit it might be with us for as long as you like...but rule out anything else first please?
Sun is shining here today but forecast is rain.
Son is officially 20 tomorrow! Yay! (Although I've been calling him 20 for a few weeks now....I think subconciously I'm getting him closer to the edge of the nest so I can push.:D) He's off to Edinburgh for the Oasis concert at Murryfield so I can spend his birthday peacefully, congratulating myself for not killing him in his teens.
As of tomorrow, I will have no teenagers. Yay! Yay! Yay! For the next 3 years anyway.
On the subject of food (which is what this thread is meant for after all) I was like a woman possessed yesterday, I was ravenous. I would have a meal then immediately be hungry again, complete with rumbly tum.
This morning TOTM arrived. That has happened quite a lot over the last few months, it's a weird kind of hunger...it's not just greedy pig hunger, it's a kind of caveman, rip the leg off a chicken kind of hunger. IYSWIM
:rotfl:The older I get, the stranger I get, I think.
Anyway, can't sit on my butt all day as I have got loads to do so will see you all later. *waves*Herman - MP for all!0 -
pant acid
Is it only me that laughed at that?! I don't know what it is, but it sounds nasty!! :rotfl:
Good morning all :hello:
I was really tired when I woke up as well, but feeling perkier now after doing my wii fit for 32 mins. Told me I'd lost 2lbs since yesterday  Hmmmmm, after what I ate yesterday?? I don't think so!! :rotfl: I didn't pig out, I had my 3 meals & no snacks, but dinner last night was a rather large HM pizza
Badger, did you use coconut oil again on your sunburn?? Is that the treatment?? Bet you smell lovely!! :rotfl:
Btw, that was very informative about the B12 etc. Don't like the sound of drinking marmite though!! _pale_ I'm assuming it's a nastier version of bovril??
Well, I'm going to get myself ready for my walk & then I have housework to do!! Eek!! Trying to follow the Flylady thread on 'Old Style' but didn't do any cleaning yesterday so am planning on doing double today!! Double eek!!
Have a lovely day everyone & I'm sure I will see you later!!
