    Hello!

Been quite busy and a little hung over :)

wishy - glad you like the recipes.

mini - I'm making mex fudge at the mo, used lots of thin green chillis, 1 big red one and a fat spring onion :D Will do me for lunches / snacks / maybe dinner. Will keep well int fridge for 4 days, if it gets the chance :rotfl:

serena - I got my EPA from Healthy Direct, most places will sell it but check the details. EPA 180 / DHA 120, is the one I use. If it's not clearly listed don't bother. simply supplements are ok but v slow delivery, and their pots don't fit through my letterbox. OK if you are in a lot, no use to me as it means a trip to the delivery office and a further delay. Have to say, don't think the fish oil is necessary to begin. Start with the coconut oil and flax oil, then add EPA when you get it.

Gaye - I love camping so will empathise right along with the jealousy :) Have a great time!

Hope you all have had a nice day :j It's been overcast and a bit chilly here but not really cold. I'm off to root some sedum for family, I have a lot and it's nice to share :)

Got caught by the mormons when out collecting. (sounds painful :rotfl: but wasn't for a change)
What a nice bunch of identically well groomed young men! This time the first guy accepted my plea of gardening and cooking to let me off theology. It was nice to meet non millitant ones for a change. Think my cat helped, he has no boundaries when it comes to demanding attention :rotfl: Believe we have a 'nest' of them locally, and many are American, it makes a change to see well dressed young men about. Most of the locals are chavtastic or 'smokers' so unusual ideology (sp?) is the norm round here, apparently :rotfl:

Off to grow some alpines! See you soon!

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)
  • Re the flax oil mentioned above, I found this info when googling:

It is important to maintain an appropriate balance of omega-3 and omega-6 (another essential fatty acid) in the diet, as these two substances work together to promote health. These essential fats are both examples of polyunsaturated fatty acids, or PUFAs. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and most omega-6 fatty acids tend to promote inflammation. An inappropriate balance of these essential fatty acids contributes to the development of disease

Not having a scientific/medical background, is there any risk taking flaxseed oil without taking another preparation in conjunction with it?

    Eww :rotfl:

Try it in your coffee, i'm not so keen on coffee without it now.

Thanks. Would that be one teaspoonful per cup?

Can anyone help with my coconut oil query please?
After reading about it on here I ordered a 440ml tub for £14.95 inc postage.
I read about the 10L pails but thought £160 a bit pricey!
I haven't tried it yet as I thought it better waiting for a non working day in case it has an adverse effect.
My question is (after reading endlessly on the subject) is there a brand favoured by you or do you just buy the best you can afford?
    Thanks
    KR
I use Coconoil and like it £75 for 10 liters delivered, £3.50 a 500ml pot. I'm just about at the end of my first one.
As it's solid when cold I did wonder how I was going to get it out of the bulk container but of course putting it in the airing cupboard overnight, or in the sunshine on a sunny day soon has it liquid, then you just pour it off into the containers you want in your kitchen. Fortunately I'd saved a few old coconut jars for jam making so they are now back in use as coconut oil jars.
You have to fill in a form onsite, the guy rings you up and takes your number and it's delivered in a day or so.

I have been dieting now for 7 or 8 weeks and not been tempted at atll, but my OH brought a smll loaf from Greggs, it only has about 6 slices and it's a thick cut granary loaf.
It's sat on the bench for ages and when I was in the kitchen I was thinking what a shame if it went moldy, so stuck a piece in the toaster. I did have about 2oz butter on it, but still, bet that shows on the scales tomorrow!
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

Just been catching up on all the posts, it's amazing how much you miss if you don't read them several times a day, lol!!

Muchos congratulations to those peeps who have lost lbs & inches :j

Gaye, your trip sounds idyllic, even with the lack of 'mod cons'!! Btw, thought badger looked great on the you tube video, won't be able to get that song out of my mind now though!! :D

mazzers, maybe your oven was trying to tell you not to make more of those brownies after the last time!! ;)

My son went home today and this is when I usually binge on sugar and carbs. Been good - although I did have to have a tablespoon of golden raisins. Otherwise it was okay-

B Grilled sausages, bacon and tomatoes, eggs fried in coconut/olive oil mix

    L Cheese

D Mushroom 3 egg omelette with grated cheese on top.

Have now cleaned my teeth in an effort to stop any idea of more munchies!

Mercy thanks for the EPA info, I will do as you suggest and take the flax and coconut for now.

Mazzers you mention induction week - is this atkins. I'm not sure if I could manage with no veg and fruit.

Well all things considered I am liking this way of eating and look forward to weigh in at the end of the month. I am due blood tests for my diabetes at the end of the month so home to see an improvement on the sugar levels.
