Some peeps on here will be aware of FitDay, a free diet analyser, but i didnt realise how good it is, if you want to know your carb intake as well as other nutrients, just enter your measures and it counts everything.
Take a look here then sign up.

what an interesting article, thanks for that :)

not relating to that link but what i dont understand is why fruit is so bad for you? i know they contain alot of carb but i always thought fruit was easily digested. I love fruit so much this is the one thing i find hard to cut out. I can resist the chocolate bars and packets of crisps but put some fresh fruit in front of me and i dont want to say no :o

Leptin's Role In Brain Neurocircuitry ClarifiedNow, a study led by investigators at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) sheds further light on the subject. Reported in tomorrow's issue of the journal Cell Metabolism, the findings demonstrate that when leptin sensitivity is restored to a tiny area of POMC neurons in the brain's hypothalamus, a group of mice deficient in the leptin-receptor are cured of severe diabetes – and also spontaneously double their activity levels – independent of any change in weight or eating habits.

If you want to understand how leptin resistance occurs and how wheat germ agglutinin binds to leptin receptors blocking them, thus reducing their action Stephan explains it here but it's all more evidence to show the dangers of grains.

Because fruit is high in fructose, it raises blood glucose levels really quickly (especially grapes and apples) so your body releases insulin to control the BG and the insulin stores it for later.. as belly fat usually.

Maybe you will be able to eat some fruits, some people reportedly can gain after a single apple, i certainly hope i can go back to some fruits.

If you find it difficult to resist, it could well be the thing causing the weight gain.

This FitDay site is brilliant, still getting used to it but is a mine of information.

Have calculated an average day of eating and was surprised how low my cals are (1500,) am having approx 30g carbs 109g of fat and 107g of protien = 63% from fat, 29% from protien and 8% from carbs.

Dont know if this is good or bad

Mind you, it states that dietetic jelly sweetened with artificial sweetener is 10.1 g carbs per tblspn

I'll have to cut that out if thats the case as i'm having more than a tblspn at a time.
Its also shown me how low i am in vit D vit C and vit E so will get some supplements.

    A fantastic site i must say :T

I used to use fitday, but struggled with some of the americanisms, I really like Spark people, although it's American I can input recipes and get carbs etc per serving, and nutirtion data is fantastic for giving the GI and inflammation for foods.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

had three really good days but then got a craving for something sweet so ate one of the mini Chrimbo puddings that were left over from Christmas (I was in hospital so missed out on Christmas dinner) don't know how many carbs were in it don't want to look either.
Now I don't only feel bloated and disgusted with myself, I'm craving carbs even more. I could just make a big pan of Jasmine rice and eat the lot. I won't, got a nice piece of brisket low in the oven and will have that later with cauli mash and green cabbage, maybe cheesy leeks too. It's scary though how something carby has made me cluck for more carbs...
