Jordylass - I think I will look out for a yoghurt maker. I had one years ago and it didn't matter what I did, it was too runny. How do you make it in a cupboard? Do you just put it in a bowl or something and how long should I leave it there? Can I use normal full fat milk or does it have to be UHT?

    Hi linni

You might get some ideas from this thread. I'm not a yoghurt maker, but I think if you dont have use live yoghurt then it turns out runny?

Thanks, you have inspired me to give it a go!

I forgot how easy it is to make yogurt.
I used to make mine in a flask, pour boiling water into flask and discard (to warm it)
bring milk to blood temp, and my recipe was a couple of tbnspns skimmed milk powder mixed with the yogurt, then add the milk, pour into flask and do not disturb til morning.
Was really strange seeing all that yogurt coming out of the flask, i remember shaking the flask to mix once and it was a disaster, made it go runny.

Oh, and you can only use your yogurt as the 'starter' for six times then you will need a fresh pot  no idea why.

I had a very disturbed sleep, kept dreaming about mummys, cant think why

Just had spag bol, forgot i had the dreamfields pasta, duh! yumm lots of parmesan on top.
Am having a glass of wine with it.

Sweet, my budget going great, spent £40 on Monday, £10 Wednesday and £8 today, wont be shopping again til Monday cept maybe for milk, so used the rest for petrol, still food from last week here ( bacon, gammon joint, chicken breast) and we have had some nice meals, hope i can keep it up
I have observed that you are more careful what goes in your basket when there's only so much cash in your purse, and am more reluctant to part with cash that just stick it on the card.

Mine was, but it isn't now  Actually thought I was going to have some money outstanding (that I was going to squirrel away) but the last couple of days have gone a bit awry. Also, hubby got the £10 meal deal from M&S today so I think I'm about £20 over this week :o

Definitely agree with this, I'm going to take money out again on Monday and, hopefully, just spend that for my shopping. Still have my card in my purse though, just in case

I have the Lakeland yogurt maker, it's pretty good. I use a litre of whole UHT milk and either the Total yogurt or Yeo Valley. It comes out nice and thick. I need to get a second interior pot though otherwise I need to use a fresh yogurt every time. I want to reuse the yogurt I already made.

It works out about half the price of supermarket yogurt.

Well day 3 seems to be going okay:

B greek yog with ground linseeds
L Cold beef salad with homemade coleslaw, lettuce, cu &toms
D Pork chops in peppers, onions & tom sauce, fresh greens from garden

Am going to have some strawberries with double cream in a minute though. My son is visiting for the weekend and I can't watch him eat them and not have some too. Weak willed I know.

Mercy thanks for the reply re the EPA. do you buy these from the web or a health store? I would like to get some asap.

My coconoil came today - I had ordered before I knew about the VEG code but maybe next time. My son has been a bit sceptical about both the lcing and also the coconut oil but I feel so much better and my digestive system is feeling so good - I used to have terrible rumblings in my tum and constant wind. I am definitely not so bloated either, in fact this morning I coughed and my pj bottoms fell down \o/ so if I haven't lost weight then I've certainly lost inches already!
