Hi peeps, thought I'd say hello seeing as I've been lurking for about 2 months now. :hello:
Started 'icing' on 23rd March and have lost 19.5 pound so far - the .5 is significant as my initial target is 39 pounds which means i'm halfway - hurray! :j
I've been pretty strict about it all the way through, especially in the last week when i've been doing it 'hard core' with only meat, eggs, fish, water and peppermint tea on the menu to try and get things going again after a bit of a plateau. Cast iron will power, me!Undecided about whether to re-introduce salad leaves, etc this week or continue for another week - does <5g carbs a day have any significant benefit over <20g a day in terms of speed of weight loss?
Started using coconut oil this week but OMG I wish I'd read up more on the side effects! First time I took it (warmed off a spoon) I had stomach cramps within minutes and felt nauseous all day with a headache that lasted for 5 days (just a mild one but paracetamol wouldn't touch it). The taste of it makes me gag but I'm persevering with a little bit in food where possible.
I lost a lot of weight low carb-ing in a less strict fashion a few years ago (just giving up bread, pasta, biscuits, etc) and i've known for a long time that wheat doesn't agree with me. I've a significant birthday coming up early next year and am determined to be 'fit, not fat' for it.
I've loved reading about everybody's rides on the low-carb rollercoaster - keep up the good work! :TIf I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...0 -

Hi one-non-blonde
I was exactly the same with the coconut oil at first, but have started to notice my skin and hair are looking a lot healthier now. Its worth it, so stick with it. Certainly gets the old bowel moving too doesn't it?lol

I thought that was my nut bread :rotfl:
Welcome onenonblonde, you've done really well, it's a lot easier when you can whinge in here.
I didnt realise there were side effects to coconut oil
Love it myself.
Alias, you are right, i have got it sussed now, i've been trying for years, but now that i've accepted its a way of life, (bar the odd binge) i think i'll get there.
I wish you could get there too, but until you get the right mind set its almost impossible.0 -
Afternoon Everyone
Mazzers well done on the 1lb loss.As for me nipping on and off the diet I find its easier as it helps me to cope with the cravings.During the week when I get the oooh want a biccie thought I just think I can have one on Saturday and it goes away.So its easy just getting back onto LCing on Sunday

Greetings fellow icers.
So far so good. had a "roast" at my parents which for OH was Turkey & veggies and me was nut roast and veggies -and a little gravy. Mum went a bit mad on the veg, feeling that we were missing out on the diet so there was green beans, roast onions & peppers, carrots, cauliflower, & pumpkin. Managed to give the roast potatoes a wide berth, and the pudding (didn't even open my eyes to see what that was in case I lunged towards it with my mouth open). Had berries for brekkie too so could have been much worse.
Weighed myself for the first time in months -OMG!!!:eek::eek: Will get OH to take a photo of me today so I can do a photo diary to see the weight loss, and never go back to this horrible place again. Decided to weigh once a month and take another photo then to chart the progress."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -

Today woke up late so just had chicken salad for lunch and at family bbq only eating salad with the ribsneeded to get away from all the noise lol so crept on to write this haha. better go back before they come looking for me.

Oooooh, I'm first today.
Where are you all?
Hi to the ex-lurkers and lol @ marrowgirl's fear of 'lunging with her mouth open'. :rotfl:
I managed to sleep in this morning, must be catching up an lost sleep I think. Thankfully I had been an organised soul last night and all daughter's school stuff was sorted in advance instead of being the mad dash in the morning it sometimes is.
Well I know I keep saying it, but today really IS gonna be the re-start day for me. I weighed this morning and let's just say I'll need to delete my sig.
A kind MSE'r had sent me a sample of coconoil to try and whilst I have to admit to not being completely enamoured with it, I do think it would be good for me to take and I've just ordered 3 pots of the stuff to start off with with the coupon code Mercy supplied (cheers Merc!). I have been shopping and I have enough lc stuff to start again so wish me luck. (Or just completely ignore me if you're getting bored with the same thing being said every week. :rotfl: I honestly don't mind, lol.)
I did think that since sweet and I dont seem able to lc at the same time these days, one of us should lie and say we're not icing just so the both of us do...iyswim? :rotfl:
Anyway, have a good day peeps, tis raining and miserable up here so whatever I end up doing today, it will be indoors, that's for sure.Herman - MP for all!0
