Don't worry too much about the yogurt, the carb count is pre yogging so as long as it's plain it's not too desperate. Most of the remaining carbs are in the whey so if you strain it you'll lose those as well.

elantan - do you make sure you have plenty of low carb snacks to munch on? Hard boiled eggs already shelled, cheese cut up etc. It can really help if you can just grab something to munch.

Hi everyone, don't seem to have had chance to post on here much recently, wanted to say that I am still here.

Sheila I think I'll try the dark choc/coconut oil/hazelnuts as that sounds lovely.

I've not really cooked anything sweet so can't help with sugar substitutes. Anything I've seen about most of the different types has been negative so it's put me off bothering really.

I've only fancied something sweet twice, and I had luckily bought in an 80% cocoa chocolate bar to try so used that. Quite enjoyed it so will make sure I always have some in, just in case of an emergency!

Started to have fried eggs some days this week instead of poached. I haven't really had them for years - used to like them but switched to poached to be more healthy. Really enjoying having them fried again.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)

Just remembered my trick for avoiding carb binge in that adjustment phase was to drink a pint of liquid and eat as much high fat stuff as possible, almost to the point of being unable to force down another mouthful. Well, it worked for me LOL

Sugar free jelly with raspberries for snack tonight.

Sheila, I love coconut bombs, I add stevia also.

HI all, I don't post on this thread normally but I was practising low carb/sugar pancakes yesterday for tuesday and they were surprisingly good. Adapted a recipe I found online, to be simpler as I didn't have millions of ingredients

1/2 cup almond meal (got to love Aldi, super cheap!)
    tablespoon dessicated coconut (aldi again)
    1 egg
enough milk to make a thick 'batter'. Made 3 medium sized, quite thick but not too thick.

They even bubbled just like 'real' ones, tasted lovely but a lot more filling than I expected.
Using sainsbury's frozen basics berries I cooked in the frying pan to make a 'sauce', very yummy indeed and now I know I can face pancake day, in fact, I have a feeling everyone will want 'my' pancakes. :)

Thanks, I might try adding dessicated coconut for a change and I use a similar recipe but with sparkling water instead of milk. I have also tried them with 3:1 ground almonds to flax, which gives a nutty taste. If you melt dark chocolate with a little cream it makes a change from berries or you could have both :D

Hi Daska, yep I do I have snacks twice a day, usually nuts and sunflower seeds, it's really weird the way the sugar cravings take hold of me, I think the last one was because I had taken sugar laden medication, and I think it started off a chain reaction type thing :(

Went to asda tonight, there was no black farmer sausages there sadly, I will need to try tesco but don't have one anywhere near me ... I did get some dark chocolate, so will have tht with the coconut oil and nuts recipe,

Also got the stuff for the almond cookies and coconut bombs ... Can anyone tell me how long and at what temp I cook the almond cookies?

Also do i chill the coconut bombs?

I'm really trying to get on top of this so fingers crossed at least if it does hit I can try something low carb

I also noticed the stevia has something like 97g of carb per 100g ... Now I imagine sugar will be 100g of carb per 100g but stevia isn't that much less, why use stevia if its not much less ? Am I missing something ?

Is almond meal ground almonds ? Might keep the pancake recipe handy myself :)

Why use sparkling water instead of milk though ?

Stevia is really light, it is done by volume, 1tsp of sugar weighs 5g and 1tsp of Stevia weighs .5g. (if it's the boxed stuff mixed with maltodextrin?) but you can buy it in liquid or other forms. It is not equivalent to sugar weight for weight.

I am going to try those coconut bombs too...

Pancakes - Yes almond meal is just ground almonds, a bit more coarse than almond flour but that would work too I expect. I imagine the sparkling water is if you don't use milk for some reason, or maybe it makes them lighter? The recipe I saw used it, but I had milk so that is what I used.

Just tried the hazelnut/coconut oil/chocolate combination for the first time. So easy to make and soooo delicious! :D

Thanks for the idea. I didn't know how much coconut oil to put in against the chocolate. I ended up putting in probably around 2/3rds as much coconut oil as chocolate. Curious as to what other people do?

Even my husband (non LC) has pinched some!

Been lazy this week, as most of my meals for the coming week are to be warmed up from things I've pre cooked in the freezer. Only thing I've made from scratch is stilton soup, first time I've tried it and had a sneaky taste, it's lovely.

Went shopping today, as no longer got anything that fits properly. Just over a month after starting LC, I went shopping as things were hanging off me - was so pleased to re-purchase my favourite jeans the next size down.

It's now been another month or so, and same problem again. And feeling so lucky that I've been able to buy that same pair of favourite jeans again in the next size down again, didn't think they would still have them in.

Nice problem to have I suppose but wasn't expecting to have to buy a whole new wardrobe!
