What sort of things do you have in your cooked breakfast? I'm guessing you have to try and include protein, fat, and veg so would something like scrambled eggs, bacon and mushrooms do the job?
Someone also recommended Omega 3 6 9 oil capsules - does anyone know what the benefits of these are on the body? I know it's fish oil and I don't eat enough fish so maybe these will make up for it. They seem a bit expensive though (in Holland & Barrett anyway)
Breakfast: I just have bacon & eggs, scrambled eggs or boiled eggs, that kind of thing. I don't worry too much about vegetables at breakfast time as I eat plenty in the other two meals.
Omega 3,6,9 - I have ME and was recommended to take these by a consultant. I take 1000mg 3 x a day. They help improve brain function, I find they certainly help me with concentration. I am all over the place if I don't take these. I buy most of my supplements online from iherb as I find this much cheaper even with the postage as you can buy them in larger quantities. If you would like to buy from them let me know I can send you a code to get a discount (I'll get one too).Weight loss 0/2st

Thanks guys
durham_mim - would you mind PM'ing me the code please? My OH and I were looking into buying the Omega 369 so I would get him some too
Nigewick - thanks, I have definitely seen a difference in my body shape since including weights in my routine. I'm not looking for weight loss, just fat loss and a more toned look. It's coming gradually I feel, but I think diet will have huge part to play so no point in doing all this if I am not eating right.0 -

Just thought I'd check in as haven't posted for a few days. Been interesting to read the discussions going on in this thread recently, good to keep learning.
Still happy on 20g carb a day so will continue with this until such time as I get fed up and want slightly more variety in my foods.
Not yet though - just picked out lots of nice new dishes to try for next week. Only thing I'm slightly struggling with is lunches - I'm fed up of the same few things. Lots of nice things in my recipe books but I need something that is very quick and easy to make, and also transportable to work.
Hi to the people that have just joined the thread :beer:0 -
Hi Bootsbabe, I have taken to work: various salads, soup in a flask, sandwich made from low carb bread, pizza made with low carb bread, pasty with pastry made from soya flour and dinner leftovers, nut roast, shepherds pie, roast veg etc. Also low carb cake.0

Hi
Well, I have been battling with my GP about following a low carb diet and she has done a bit of a reverse turn. I explained that as soon as I eat a lot of carbs I pile on the weight e.g Christmas and she told me that the tide is turning and that research is swinging away from low fat to lower carb diets. We also discussed that my cholesterol has increased since eating this way and she suggested that I have more omega 3's as this can be the alternative treatment to statins, which I would never touch. I do take fish oil capsules but may increase the dosage as they are also good for joint problems and inflammation. I came away feeling very positive and she is happy provided that overall I have at least 50 carbs a day. This is my maintenance carb level but I do go lower when I want to lose weight.
I still have to have more blood tests every 6 months but it is a positive breakthrough and proves that things are on the turn.:)
I also use lactofree milk, more expensive but worth it. Not so keen on the cheese though as it is a bit rubbery and not very strong tasting and I use cheese to make a sauce to have with vegetables.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Have a look HERE for full information.
I have stopped taking statins and asked my doctor for a blood test in March to ascertain all the numbers, not just total cholesterol which can be misleading. Even then, I won't go back to statins as there is evidence to show that they do not do any good as far as lowering the likelihood of problems goes. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I've been having various salads and home made soups too. Which I've really enjoyed, but recently have been getting bored.
I know I can try some different soups, which I will do, but I don't want soup every single day I also need something different on some days.
I have done a low carb crustless asparagus quiche which works well in terms of being quick to make, and easily portable, but I'm not that keen on it.
Your other suggestions around pizza, dinner leftovers etc all would need heating up. I can't easily do that, so whilst I can take soup in a flask to keep hot, I can't have something which needs heating up at work.
I will keep looking, there must be some other options.

Only about 20% through but have found it really interesting so far. I appreciate getting into the low level scientific detail around why things happen, I prefer to fully understand things.0 -

Do you like avocado pears as you could have half with a filling? Also what about making up dips and taking crudites?0
