Morning everyone, hope you've enjoyed the holiday. I weighed myself this morning and I've put on 2lbs. I think that must have been over the last two days as before then I was quite good just eating a few extra squares of chocolate and a couple of glasses of alcohol. The past two days I succombed and had pastry and cakes:eek: Its back to low carbing today with the odd treat of 70% chocolate.

Mercy that brie dipped in sesame seeds sounds delicious, might try that.

Well, was wondering how my first low carb Christmas would go. Christmas day we had everyone to our house, and I had stuffed butternut squash, and treated myself to 2 small roasties. Also had my favourite dessert of raspberry pavlova

We had a day off eating lots on 26th and had a quiet day. I had put on 1.5 pounds just on Christmas day when I weighed myself.
    :o

Then on 27th went to parents in law. They did me a stuffed pepper, and again I had 2 small roasties, no dessert though.

Throughout I've had a few glasses of wine and prosecco too which I've thoroughly enjoyed.

After that I've been back to low carb proper, as even though it was really only 2 days that I'd eaten things I shouldn't, I didn't feel great and could really tell the difference. Was actually dying to get back to my normal eating habits.

Anyway weighed myself this morning and overall have actually lost 1.5 pounds from what I was pre Christmas :j

Pleased with that, and with the fact that I found I am happier and feeling healthier eating like this. Definitely affirmed that I'm doing the right thing.

Hope you all have had a lovely Christmas. I'm currently looking after a poorly husband whose come down with some awful bug and is in bed, am hoping he will be better in plenty of time to celebrate New Year as I was ill last year and couldn't celebrate it then either.

Hi everyone, and Happy New Year.

Things haven't been too bad food-wise over crimbo, mainly as, apart from xmas day, we've been at home. My husband had been working over in France so bought all the ladies in the family - including me - boxes of French hand-made chocs.

I know I'm sounding ungrateful, but I didn't really want them, and ended up eating some to appease him. 70% choc is too sweet for me now, so after eating 5 in succession I ended up with the most horrendous headache. I've left them alone since, but had 2 last night and got a headache even from that (no, not due to alcohol!). They are sooooo sickly, I really wish he hadn't bothered, as I really don't want to finish the box now.

I made a black forest gateau-type cake to take to feed the hungry hordes at my sister-in-laws and it went down a storm. It was absolutely delicious, 3 layers of the choc cake with cream and kirsch-soaked cherries between each layer. No-one could believe it didn't have flour and hardly any sugar in, and there was no way I was bringing the remainder back, they were going to devour it for boxing day tea!

Back on the straight and narrow now!

Hi murphydog  Your black forest gateaux has me drooling but off limits for now.

Well I can now confess to everyone that I have put on a whole stone in the past 2 weeks  How it has gone on that quick I don't know except that I haven't been counting carbs. Today I am back to Atkins induction, 20 carbs a day, and feeling hungry but that is because I need to shop and get in the right food. Going without nuts, seeds, chocolate, berries, yogurt and milk is going to be hard so I don't know if I will last 2 weeks but I have to try and then increase as I have before.

I am sure that everyone has been good and well done on losing over Christmas boots_babe :T How is hubby now?

Let's hope that we can keep this thread going as it was and all help and encourage each other ;) Maybe it might help newbies to know where we are all at and our experiences along the way?

    Happy New Year!

I've not weighed myself but I know I'm bigger than before the festivities :)

Today I'm making smoothies of all the fruit and veg, partly to use them up and partly to get my body ready for a 3-5 day Dukan attack phase starting tomorrow.

Had a green smoothie like the above mentioned and going to do a carrot, apple, ginger and red grape one in a bit.

Later on it's bacon, eggs and mushrooms (not in a smoothie :)) :j

Been to asda for all the goodies and now off to make a meal plan so I have no excuses :)

Sounds very positive!! I only have carrots, swede and potatoes in at the moment but I am off to Aldi soon to stock up on their 49p salad and some veg.

Did you go out for the New year Mercy? I quite fancy a smoothie yourself but without any fruit to balance the veg I think it might not taste so nice! What does Dukan attack involve?

I had an egg and rasher bacon for brekkie as that is all that was left. I hope that you enjoy yours :)

    Morning

Just popped on to wish you all a happy and healthy new year and wondered if you would have me back?

I have gained over Xmas and new year and so have started low carb in earnest this morning :T

I've also dug the wii out and hope to get a bit more active

Off to work now but will pop on later xx
  • Happy new year all.

Quick question....while I have been eating more carbs over the festivities I noticed , sorry if this is TMI...everything has been going straight through me eek. I wondered if this was some kind of intolerance showing up? Thoughts anyone please?

Looking forward to getting back on track.

Sorry Andrewsmum, don't have an answer for you, but I find that too. And don't get me started on the wind .....

Can I creep back in please? Have been eating my rather large head off for a while and desperately need to get back on board. Have eaten cereal for breakfast as that is all I have at work, so shopping on the way home and then back properly.

It is good to see the faithful ones are still here :j Looking forward to joining you all again (if you'll have me ...)
