Hi all, nice to hear that you are hanging on in there Sheila-I feel like we need to 'get through 'this festive time as best we can, and then get back to normal eating with a vengeance in January.
Daska, lovely to hear from you, sorry that you are suffering still, but at least you don't have to force all that wheat down your throat anymore!!
I've been indulging more than I normally do, and feeling the consequences!! A mince pie here, and cake there.I'm sure that my tummy roll is coming back abit, even if the weight isn't necessarily going back on! I'm sure for me, it's the wheat and sugar that I need to steer clear from. Potatoes I can tolerate. Haven't had rice for months.
Nice to see some new faces here-feel free to post up daily menus.
How is everyone else doing?0 -
 Mornin all, have been lurking but have had other things going on, like a tooth abscess and picking up a nasty head cold bug - god the headaches!!! I think the two are linked as the surgery waiting room I was in had air con units as heaters and it was absolutely boiling. It was freezing cold outside and people were stripping off layers waiting to be seen, I was sweating by the time I came out, it was awful, a breeding ground for bugs.
Anyway, I'm pretty much headache and snot free now, it didn't affect my eating I'm pleased to say. Doing the 8:2 I.F. has allowed me to introduce a lot more veg (have missed baked sweet potatoes) and beans into things and the weight still comes off.
My husband has been working in France for 3 weeks and had to eat out quite a lot, think croissants, pizza, bread, etc, he still did his fast days though and was 1kg lighter than he left!!! He's lost a stone in approx 11-12 weeks, primarily LC-ing but there has been a significant loss increase since I.F.-ing.0 -
Hope you're feeling better soon murphydog999, nothing worse than being stuck in a hospital waiting room with lots of germs going around.
Food for today:
Breakfast: Quorn sausages, grilled tomato and poached egg
Lunch: Avocado and egg salad with veggie caesar dressing
Dinner: Thai curry
Snacked on a few brazils.
Counting down at work now, 2 days to go until the holidays0 -

Hi everyone,
Wanted to bring up a subject which I can't find mentioned in this thread when searching. Sorry if it's TMI but over the last week I've started spotting, and this is something which NEVER has happened before to me. I'm on the pill and don't even have a time of the month but I've lost enough to constitute one over the last few days.
Been googling and apparently this is a fairly common side effect of low carbing for us ladies. However I can't find either:
- a definitive answer as to why it occurs (found lots of explanations but all of them different)
- any idea as to how long it may go on for
I'll keep googling but it'll be pretty annoying if it becomes a permanent feature - hoping it won't do
Anyway, just wanted to mention for the benefit of anyone else reading this thread now or in the future. Definitely something to be aware of.0 -
I haven't read or heard of that before boots babe. Interesting, I might read up.
Today I have had an extend bar
Two piri piri chicken thighs followed by two fresh apricots
Dinner is cauliflower and bacon curry.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Hi been thinking of trying this in new year, can you tell me what sort of things you have for breakfast & lunch on a typical day? I can see cutting it out of my main meals but struggle for ideas with these two especially if in a rush. Thanks.
On a typical day for breakfast I would have something like a yoghurt (usually low fat!) and maybe some fruit. Occasionally I will have cereal but I try to stick to a smaller portion if so. For lunch I often have a chicken salad, peri peri chicken is my personal favourite as its tasty but doesn't contain full fat mayo like coronation chicken, chicken tikka etc.
Obviously allow yourself some treats every now and again, the occasional biscuit or slice of cake isn't going to do much damage
Best of luck!0 -

If you're low-carbing, why do you have a low fat yoghurt? Low fat foods often have increased sugar in them to make up for the lower fat and are not good for someone LCing.
Have a good read of the different yoghurt pots and check the carb levels.0 -
Hello!
I've been indulging more than I normally do, and feeling the consequences!! I'm sure for me, it's the wheat and sugar that I need to steer clear from. Potatoes I can tolerate. Haven't had rice for months.
It's the wheat that does that to me. Just a little bit once in a 3 month period is ok, 2 or 3 times in a week causes bloat. No weight gain, just perceived fatness. I get it around tummy and neck.
I hopefully shouldn't get the effects too much over xmas as only 1 meal with others. Even there I'm allowed to be picky as my family are very resilient and accommodating :j
I'm the least problematic compared to others around the table :rotfl:
