All the loveliness done and I really do love you all

I have found through my Dukan adventures and general experimentings that I cannot do the low carb high fat thing. We are all different and have to find our own way.

I am still, and I believe always will be, low carb. It works for me. Lots of LC veg and much veg in general. But I'm now high protein and moderate to low fat. By that I DO NOT MEAN BUYING 'LOW FAT' FOODS. I mean using good fats but in a lesser quantity.

I have a wheat intolerance so all the pasta, pastry, bread, cakes is out of bounds anyway - glad I found out about the intolerance when I'd been LCing for a bit - would be a shocker from cold  Knowing it'll make me 'fake fat' is enough to keep me off it.

But the high fat bit doesn't work for me. Good to know it.

I've not weighed in a while but I'm still fitting easily into my 'test' jeans and when I pull my tummy in - it goes in further :rotfl:

All low carb people - you rule!

    Much love

    Hi Everyone,

Not posted for a while due to the pre-Christmas busy-ness and being absolutely exhausted. My daughters get home from Uni this weekend so its all worth it.

Yesterday I cooked the ham for Christmas and as I was cutting off the rind I wondered if I could make my own pork scratchings. I went ahead and had a go. I had them today for lunch and they were delicious much tastier than shop bought.
    :snow_laug Merry Christmas Everyone! :snow_laug

Probably my last post on here before Christmas, so Happy Christmas to everyone

Been busily preparing things in the kitchen today - until now I've never felt tempted to stray from low carb but thought I had best have some options available what with all the extra food around over Christmas.

Have made up batches of soup which will be quick and easy if I'm hungry and can't be bothered with anything.

Also made sure I have some treats in stock - bought some cheese coated nuts from the Christmas markets. And today have made some chocolate truffles (Celia Brooks Brown book), and courgette crispy dippers with almonds and parmesan (Rose Elliot).

Just tried a truffle with my well earned (black) coffee, it is delicious!

Hope you're all getting your preparations done and have a great Christmas :j

PS don't know if any of you saw the offer on here for the Cuisinart mini chopper/blender? It was £60 down to £15 so I couldn't resist, used it for all sorts today and it was invaluable, saved me loads of time and it's so small it can sit in the corner and always be handy. The link is below - price gone back up now but will prob be in the post Christmas sales somewhere:

I think it's that she just gave up. Must be feeling the flu or the futility of it all. :rotfl: Or, both of those because a good post got lost

    Meh. Nevermind.

I live alone with cats so I don't have the same constraints and issues most of you have.

    My menu for tomorrow

Brunch - 3 eggs gently fried with the whites slowly scrambled with a little brie, but the yolks still runny. Topped with salmon steak. :j

Later meal - Raclette cheese done over broccoli and cauli with all the pickles associated and pigs in blankets! :T

Well chuffed with this menu! Will be having a cherry choc fest and drinking Voddilimesoda :D

    And for the cats
Breakfast (I'll be getting up early to feed the hairies else they'll mither, then back to bed) - nice swiss cat terrine meal sent by 'Mummy Melenie' (Sherlock's mum from years ago)
    Lunch - salmon steak
Buffet of biscuits for the rest of the day.
    Supper - Whiskas sachet

We will be very happy and pleasantly full folk round at mine! I imagine the cats will pass out after their salmon for a few hours. Well, Sherlock will, Holly will likely eat till she's full then terrorise some part of the furnishings. Sherl will finish off her fish and sleep for 5 hours :)

Best of luck with the xmas tuck!

My, 4 days and no postings. We must all be busy or feeling guilty for a little cheating ;) So difficult over the Christmas New Year period but another year to get stuck in. I am horrified to report that I have put on 5 lb over the past week and yet not overeaten or had too much drink. I have however eaten high carb food and this just proves to me that low carb has to be the way forward. With a bit of concentrated effort in the New year it should come off, or it has before.

What are you doing for New Year? I have decided to stay in as I have been travelling or entertaining for the past week and am shattered.

Have a good day and keep smiling :)

    Hi all!

    Done the bloating but heyho!

    Today had
    B- green smoothie
L- brie dipped in sesame seeds and wrapped in salami with salad
Eve - Hot roast chicken with leek and celery mush

Not drinking enough water but it's a good start :)

Will start every day I'm off work with a green smoothie - totally top.
Mine had today (about 1pt when done)
    Apple
    Parsley
    coriander
    cucumber
    turmeric
    black pepper
    Rock salt
    water

    Made me feel wonderful!
(good hangover cure - trust me)
