  • I know you are going to love this but baked beans on toast provides all the essential amino acids.
Yes you can use wholemeal bread rather than crappy white stuff. However this is never going to be that low in carbs.

Even the great Atkins reckoned man was designed to eat roots and that believe it or not is what a parsnip is.

If we are being contentious - rather than LC - may I say that wholemeal bread doesn't cut it where amino acids are concerned, however, oat and/or sesame seed bread would. It is much more complementary due to the lack of methionine/cystine/isoleucine in the bean.

One of the best things for amino acid 'completeness' with wholegrain bread is good old cheese; all this would be very useful in a healthy eating thread, but is of very little concern in the LC world.

Did you have to mention the 'P' word again! :naughty:

NB. Disclaimer to above. Yes, healthy eating is of primary importance, just not the subject of this thread.

I blame you all, today I forgot to have lunch and the only thing to grab (other than bread)was a banana!!!

And now the 'B' word, this is a slippery slope!!!

Talking of the 'C' word...I have the perfect solution for those of you craving crisps. Assuming kale is allowed on a low carb diet, then toss a couple of handfuls of chopped kale in olive oil and sea salt then spread on a baking sheet and pop in the oven for 5-10 mins at gas 5, 190C or 375F

    Delicious!!

  • I would absolutely LOVE to take my dog for a long run or walk. However, chronic arthritis in both knees barely get me into the kitchen. One of the main reasons I am desperate to lose weight is so I can have knee replacements.

In that case I would just cut out the foods high in refined carbs. If you have a fairly sedentary lifestyle then you run the risk of your body burning protein. Bear in mind most of your energy actually goes in maintaining body temp so as you wont have a little furnace of metabolism going on your body may want to use protein rather than fat if it isnt getting any free carbs. There are plenty of carbs in normal food and way too much in sweet sugary things
If you cant walk far I would try doing some upper body exercise.
I would also check for intollerance of foods from the tomato family (that includes auberines:() as these have been shown to sometimes cause arthritis
You should lose weight slowly. Over on the low fatters thread people claim losses of 4 or more pounds. well 4 lbs of fat is around 12000 kcals so as recommended daily amount for a female is about 2000 that represents 6 days food. I dont think its all fat they are losing.
Who I am is not important. What I do is.

    Chips!
I hope you are able to explain to daska and the others the nutritional benefits of the common spud ;) otherwise you may well be labelled a troll.

You being a troll has nothing to do with explaining the nutritional benefits, it's solely to do with you deliberately undermining a SUPPORT thread by suggesting things which you know will not fit with many people's expectations or needs. You obviously have more than sufficient knowlege to identify alternatives that would be a better fit yet you choose not to. And if you had an honest reason for posting here you would have apologised to inspirespirit as she obviously fell for your machinations.

I used to come here for support but as your presence, aided and abetted by chameleon, means that this thread no longer meets it's stated purpose I am moving on.

I'm sad to leave but yes, absolutebounder, you've achieved it, please enjoy :T

I know what you mean and I too will be reading less here. The whole point of coming here, which was to help and be helped with regard to low carb diets, has stopped being fun and started to be a chore.

Where once we had a fun group who were serious about low carbing and sharing ideas, we now have a few souls who have to correct and explain the tosh written since we last logged on.

Some have already left since the nonsense started and I do miss them.

It's all got a bit boring.

    Take care all!

Mercy, you are needed here too. Why give them the satisfaction? Please stay, its a support group and we need to support each other, even when others try to disrupt it. Hang on in there, they won't stay long.xx

Thanks for your kind words but it's actually a good time for me to move on for a while. There's a holiday coming up then a change in the household which will mean less time spent on line anyway.

I'm a low carber so don't fret, I'll be doing it when I'm not here :rotfl:

    Big love
