What a lovely sunny day! :j Hello everyone. Have to report the duck was gorgeous, so much better than cooking the breast on it's own, very moist and filling. If anyone is interested I cooked it slowly, 1/2 hour on 190, 2 hours @ 150, a blast of 200 at the end to crisp up skin and then 15 mins rest. Very yummy.
Bought a carton of coconut milk recently. Mark Sissons (of Primal Blueprint fame) has got lots of coconut recipes on his blog, so we've been trying berry smoothies. For a 3/4 full tumbler size, they work out at between 10-15g carbs depending on what berries you use, and the quantity of course, but because of the good fat content they are really filling. Personal preference, but I added a dash of cream as well, and a splash of vanilla essence, but I'm sure other additions like cinnamon and the coconut meat itself would also be nice.
For those of us who are not strict on carbs, they are a change from eggs, useful for a fill-up any time of day, can be pre-prepared, and relatively cheap. I got a carton from Tesco that didn't have any nasties but was twice as expensive as the tins - £3.49 I think - but it has made 4 breakfasts, and I will use it for 2 lots of blueberry pancakes, so very MSE. :money:
My only note to this is that although on one hand coconut milk is classed as a superfood - high in loads of minerals, esp. iron and manganese - it is also classed as an inflammatory food, (this lessens when you add anti-inflam foods, like berries, to it) so just be aware if you are avoiding this section of foods for health reasons.0 -
(((Hugs))) Sistercas - I will be in the same boat tomorrow.
Having been through this before 3 years ago I know it gets better and you do adjust, but it is sad because they become independent and 'different' when they do come home. I know my relationship with DD1 has improved since she went to Uni. Before we were always upsetting each other. Now I think she does appreciate home more and is even thinking of returning to this area ( not in the same house) once she's qualified (she is still at Uni as she is a medical student).
I just know the house will be so different with only one left at home. Over the summer I realised we (OH and I) , will have much more time to do the things we like and more time for each other, which I'm looking forward to, I just need to get through this weekend.
I have noticed I am feeling very tired this week and I think it is all the emotional energy being used. I have had to force myself to do callanetics as I really didn't feel I had the energy for it but I know I always feel better afterwards.Weight loss 0/2st

Hi there - I tried this recipe during the week and absolutely loved it! Amended slightly from a thread on netmums (to remove the potatoes) I think (hope!) it's fairly low carb - the chorizo sausages are less than 5% carbs....
Chicken & chorizo stew- 4 chicken breasts
- 2 tins chopped tomatoes
- 1 large onion, chopped
- Chorizo sausage, chopped
- Pitted black olives
- 1-2 tsp chilli powder
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed or chopped
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- 250ml/½ pint chicken stock
Meanwhile cut the chorizo into chunks and add to pot. Fry for 2-3 minutes until the "juices" start coming out. At this point you may want to add some chilli powder to however hot you like it.
Add tomatoes, stock, tomato puree, garlic & a dash of red wine if there's some open!
Cover pan and simmer
About 10 mins towards end of cooking add black olives.
Top with soured cream and fresh coriander.0 -

This sounds really goos. I make it approx 55g carbs for the lot (depending on amount of olives and chorizo) - presumably you have got 4 servings from this?0 -

Hi - I don't count carbs, so I'll have to take your word for thatYes, you can easily get 4 servings from it, even if you do what I do and reduce it down to being as thick as possible (I'm not a fan of watery sauces).
It is really, really good:j0 -
Oh - I forgot to say that when I made it I only used one tin of tomatoes, so that might even cut down the carb content further:)0

Oh yes, it reduces by 16g, so now 39g. Sounds good.0 -
Totally stuffed. Had the curry and it was gorgeous. Can hardly move. We have cheesecake for desert (was 3 pounds reduced to 1.09. But I know for a fact I wont have any, as going to bed in a minute. I've had about six vodka and diet bitter lemons. Rock on! yea! Making loads of mistaks, so I will bow out. Thinking of you all. Love JJJ. x0

Another small update re the hypno thing........was not a happy bunny late afternoon/early evening yesterday but was keeping annoyance in check as much as possible until it all just kinda exploded within me. I was so unbelievably wound up, I was getting angrier by the minute and I knew I wasn't going to settle myself.
I got into my car (feeling annoyed and wound up) with the intention of storming off to Tesco to buy wine, chocolate and other nice things but instead of starting the engine and going, I just sat there.
After a few minutes of just sitting staring out the windscreen (not even thinking about anything), I then thought I might not want wine and chocolate after all. However because I was also having a small creeping thought that I might change my mind again later on, I figured I'd go get the wine anyway. Just in case.
Got to Tesco, bought wine, juice, ice lollies & choc ices (was overcharged so got dtd back which made my 'goodies' work out cheap) and then drove home, put everything away in the fridge & freezer where it's all stayed untouched ever since. I sat on the couch with a glass of diluting juice instead.
That is unheard of for me.
And TOTM started today. Which makes my not eating and drinking even more surprising.
I'm really loathe to start banging the hypno drum loudly but it really does seem to be having an effect. I need to have a few sessions to work through some stuff before my eating can be properly 'controlled' but I'm quietly confident now. I'm scared to say that in case I jinx something.
Hypno man seems to be good at his stuff, unlike hypno man 1 that I saw years ago and was useless (found out afterwards he had a reputation for being useless but I didn't know that at the time). So it looks like it's largely down to the person practising rather than the craft, as to how successful it is, iyswim.
I'm happy to keep updating my experience if it helps anyone who might be considering hypnotherapy but I don't want to become a boring pita or an annoying distraction on the thread.
You're all probably too nice to say if I was though. :rotfl:
