can someone give me a menu plan of the things they ate when they first started on this diet? Thanks
btw does anyone find they spend more money on food when doing this plan? my bf eats normally so i have to buy lots of low carb stuff for me and normal stuff for him. feels like im spending a fortune.well it is for me who is broke.
Menu plan - I've started posting my meals again, just add more brocolli, cauli and cabbage and other veg to it for what I started off eating, really do recommend Dr D's as it really does give a gentle intro to low carbing. That's how I started and will never be more carb than that, really.
Yes it can seem to cost more. The trick is bargains when you find them and meal planning so nothing is wasted. I'm finding it cheaper as I go along as I'm not eating as much. Starting out though, yes, it was q expensive.
(It's part of the plot, ''if it's cheap we can give them the diabetes then they will be more likely to do as they're told and we'll have them in our all evil thrall!'' sorry, obsessing there :rotfl:)
Meal plan, when you know what you like, and have enough in for snacks. Go to supermarkets and buy up the whoops! section. Spot cheese on special offer, become very mse in a low carb stylee!
It's not easy but it's worth it.

In CLO there's listed an equal amount of vits A+D. You don't want too much A. When I stopped taking CLO I was taking vitD and other fish oils. Thought I'd be ok, but I wasn't. Think there's something in it we haven't had classified. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Helloooo
Check out the time... i cant sleep, i woke for a wee and cant get back to sleep  very unlike me.
Have been thinking  about not getting those extra hours, and d'ya know what.. i'm kinda relieved
They were long hours, 5 x 9hr shifts, but with 1 and 1/2 hour breaks ( why couldnt they be 8hrs with a 1/2 hr break???)
But i felt i had to apply for them, iykwim, and i get tired on my meds, and i'm still not fully trained but was trying to rush the process and getting stressed, so, relief in a way
Have got at least another year to find more hrs before my tax credits stop :cool2:
Right, coffee and a film, will prob sleep all day today now :rolleyes20 -
Hellooo,
Still here, have watched the sun come up, correction, daylight break, there's not a lot of sun, is very cloudy.
Been thinking, :undecided will consider trying to get one 12 hr night shift in a care home or summin (with my sis) to make my hours up to 30 per week.
Will be better than the 8pm finishes in the opticians anyway, was not looking forward to that as it would've meant being in the dept on my own for 2-3 hrs most evenings or mornings... lucky escape i think
Have also been reading thro the old thread, very informative and quite enjoyable when one is bored.0 -
Oh Mazzers, did you ever get back to sleep? I thought it was just me who goes trawling through the forums at that time! (Last night I woke up, put the cat out but went straight back to sleep).
About to dash to work, but just wanted to post yesterday's menu:
Boiled egg and sliced tomato
Olives, seeds and fresh grapefruit

Hi
I hope nobody minds me joining in! I have been doing low carb since Saturday so am on my 5th day today. I am following the low carb vegetarian book by Rose Elliot, as I am vegetarian, am loving all the recipes so far (except the hot bran cereal, yuk! like weetabix made with water!) and have lost 5 lbs sice saturday, which is great. Am drinking at least 2 1/2 litres of water a day, been out power walking 3 nights and am sticking to the carb cleanse 2 week programme, which is 20g of carbs a day. BUT I feel dreadful. was hoping that i would get that burst of energy i keep hearing about, but i am so tired I am literally am dragging myself off the sofa to do anything. Am crabby, cant be bothered to do anything and keep feeling very odd, not exactly light headed but a bit weird, lethargic and odd
What am I doing wrong? I did the Cambridge diet a couple of years ago, and once I got past day 3, I felt great, lots of energy and couldnt sit still. I thought I would feel similar on this, but i dont!0 -

I'm like this for 5/6 days after a carb fest and it takes a week to get sorted!!!:D

Your body/brain has been relying on carbs for energy and you are restricting that energy source, so you want to provide a quick substitute for that energy source and Coconut oil is the best source of Medium Chain Triglycerides.
Dr McCleary suggests this ketogenic cocktail.
1~2 tablespoons of MCT (coconut oil is easier to find)
1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
50mg tsp EPA
If you take that 3 times daily your body/brain will have a good source of energy and you won't be feeling so tired. Remember Dr D's low carb plan is LCHF, when you reduce carbs Low Carb, you need to increase fat. High FatMy weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a lovely sunny day so am feeling a lot brighter & breezier* today
Have been to the co-op & bought some low-carb stuff, ready for when my head is in the right place. Not today though, the smell of warm, crusty bread in the bakery dept won me over
*I'm blaming the carbsagain
Have a good day all0
