Focus, the bacon and egg did indeed last me til i came in at 8.30, and i've just had bolognaise on courgette 'pasta' with lots of melted cheese on top.
If your always hungry try going lower carb.. it works :T
I did promise myself a glass of wine but fancy a nice creamy coffee and a square or two of 85% choc instead.0 -

Hi Focus,
I never did induction so I can't help you there. However my menu for today was:-
B 1/2 red grapefruit. Stewed apple with nut/seed mix and cream
L salad with goats cheese and h/b egg
D tofu stir fry
Also biscuit with choccy topping at sewing club
Just had a strawberry while waiting for kettle to boil for hot water bottle!Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.0 -
I think the mainstay of my diet is eggs, would be lost without them. oh and cheese.
Apart from the obvious salads i have frozen broc, cauli, and spinach to go with chick breast, chops etc, mince can be made into chilli or bolog. Bacon, sausage and mushroom fry ups, roasted peppers, garlic, leeks, and courgette smothered in olive oil, frozen fish, fried in butter, quiches, omelettes, (frozen berries with s/f jelly and cream after induction)
I am going to try the butter chicken curry tomorrow with the onion bhajees.
The list goes on and on... and on
If you've got time to shop around lidl and aldi have cheapish veg, iceland have cheapish frozen foods and i get my meat from tesco but i suppose thats worth shopping around for too.
I get the tesco value cheeses for cooking and the value soft cheese is great.
I have always had high food bills due myself and my 3 sons being big meat eaters.
plus i always have to get the junk that teens like to just grab from the fridge.0 -

Mercy, thanks for your in-depth information on the supplements - is crepitus a real word?! I wasn't sure if it was a 'play on words' ie decrepit?! Lol. Anyway, I've noticed my shoulders & wrists have started cracking a bit in the last few weeks & I have been feeling a bit decrepit so maybe I have crepitus?!Or maybe I'm just talking crapitus?! :rotfl:
Seriously though, do you think I should be taking cod liver oil supplements??
Crepitus it VERY real! Probably related to decrepit, we never used to live this long so it was likely the province of old people
I can only relate what I know and YES I think you should take cod liver oil. 1 cap will be enough though, generally. In CLO there's listed an equal amount of vits A+D. You don't want too much A. When I stopped taking CLO I was taking vitD and other fish oils. Thought I'd be ok, but I wasn't. Think there's something in it we haven't had classified.
When I decided to take it again, I had 2 caps a day for a week, think this is quite safe (wasn't eating liver) and a good way to get into it. Then just take 1 a day. It'l take at least 4-6 weeks to feel a difference I reckon. As I say, I had been taking it for about 15 years but even so my getting back into it and feeling the difference took a few weeks.
I will never run out again. The difference I felt when I gave it up for a bit made me wonder how I would have felt every day if I'd never taken it  Both my parents take it and testify it really helps with their joint freedom.
Cheap as chips, worth a go

I'm sure the paleo cat diet (or wild cats) would have a very low carb intake. Our cat eats plenty of self caught rabbit and there can't be many carbs in a rabbit carcass. There is probably some in the mice/rats she eats as they eat carbs and there must be some carbs left in their digestive systems.
I'm guessing 5% max for wild cats.
The cat crunchies our cat has between hunting for itself contain almost 50% carbs so it's no wonder cats get diabetes.
I wondered if the tinned stuff has more Protein/fat?
I'll tell you what I've got
Kitekat in jelly
protein - 7
oil - 5
ash - 2.5
fibre - 0.3
moisture - 82
vitE - 8mg/kg
Not v high in protein but they do get fish in water 100% protein twice a week.
Also they have biscuits
Purina one salmon and rice
protein - 34
oil - 14
ash - 16.5
fibre - 1.5
moisture - 7.5
calcium - 1.0
phosphorus - 1.0
copper - as sulphate - 23mg/kg
Neither of the foods listed carbs.
I do not have control over how they mix and match their foodI put out some of each but 1 cat prefers dry, the other wet. Both eat both.
Changing their food isn't as bad as it could be, I've always made sure they get different tins / sachets / meat / fish on a regular basis so they don't get the runs unexpectedly. Mainly it is the above though. (all other commercial varieties are very similar in make up)
One of them is 14 and the other 10. Seem to be in the best of health but they are moggies so from good mixed stock :rotfl:
How does feline diabetes make itself known? Mine are both well muscled and not fat, shiny too

Ps Cats who catch all their own food eat the whole corpse.(mostly, little stuff anyway) their carbs will likely come from the 'soup' in the innards - with vits they need. Apparently lions like the veg soup of an antelope and it's the first thing main big cat goes for.
Interestingly, cats make their own vit C.low carb recipe list - link on page 1 low carb support threadYou don't have any control over what life throws at you.You DO have control over how you react0
