  • Thank you for kicking my butt murphydog :T

I was in a communal changing room in a shop today, trying on tops in a sale. I really don't want to boast (:D) but my arms were the best in the room - and I was probably the oldest person there. :j

You've encouraged me to do the press-ups when I would probably have given up by now.

Thanks everyone for the brilliant encouragement on here

Well done Jerry too on the first week on being a non-smoker :T

That's why I've been teaching health and fitness for the last 19 years, for reactions like that. :j My role is about 1/4 of the effort required for you to pick yourself up, shake yourself off, and actually make the effort to improve yourself, so a BIG THANK YOU back to good yourself.

You do know you've got to keep it up though? ;)

daska, was that hysterical laughter about Andrew Lansley?? I watched a programme the other week basically saying the same thing :(
I don't know who I despise the most - the Food Industry, smarmy MPs or greedy bankers!!

    And breathe...

If I hadn't laughed I would have been in a foul mood all day

He's a lying turd and everything he gets involved with turns to turd. (you see it's possible to get past the filters LOL)

But I had a lovely day, we played dodge the rain and went down to the beach with DS2 and Granny. I'm concerned I seem to be bingeing at the moment though, even craving DS2's chocolate that granny bought him - he's keen on 90% but she buys him buttons :(

Jerry - well done 7 whole days :T

Busy day today at my son's housewarming barbecue. I was quite good and had sausages, salad , coleslaw, 1tbp rice, berries and cream. Managed to avoid banoffee pie, profiteroles, cheesecake etc

daska - I am trying to have alternatives in place when I know that I will be tempted. I still sometimes crave something sweet so have 70% chocolate and nuts around in case. Glad that you enjoyed the beach.

murphydog - the soup sounds good so go for it, please

Gray Malkin - well done, so glad that it has made a difference. I am still trying but have yet to see a change but it is early days

marrbett - so glad that your daughter is feeling better, great news!!

Mercy - I hope that you enjoyed the market

sweet - scrambled eggs with a little smoked salmon is really nice :)

    Thanks everyone for your support.

Are any of you reading about all the increases in food prices due to the drought/poor wheat crop situations around the world. How are you preparing for this in regards to LCing? My former instinct would have been to stock up on pasta/rice/bread flour now, but now I'm seriously wondering about getting chickens (only for eggs!!) and apart from tinned toms/passata, am not sure what to stockpile, when so much of what we now eat is fresh!!!
I am going to make better use of the allotment.Any ideas??

    :rotfl::T:rotfl::T Love it!! :rotfl::T:rotfl::T

    Morning everyone :hello:

I'm feeling rough, rough, rough today - carb withdrawal symptoms have definitely arrived!! Sore head, tired legs & very little energy.

I've been shopping this morning & the walk from the seafront into the town was such a slog :o Beautiful sunny morning here, even though it was a bit warm for me (I'm already hormonally warm!! :o).

Jerry, well done on the smoke-free week!! :T

Gray, yaay to the lovely toned arms!! :T

SHEILA, smoked salmon = _pale__pale_ for me. I really wish I liked it but I just hate the texture _pale__pale_ I had pan-fried salmon last night & it was lush, I just can't abide the smoked stuff.

marrbett, I caught a bit of that report & it is worrying. No ideas other than what you've already said, but I think we all need to think about it.

    Meals for today:

    B - bacon, scramblies, mushrooms & toms
L - 2 GG crispbreads with tuna & spring onion mayo, pan-fried broccoli & cauliflower leftovers
D - chicken, cauli mash, broccoli, cheesy leeks

Exercise so far - 30 minute walk into town, 25 push-ups. Hopefully another 30 minute walk later as I didn't do any yesterday & maybe some more push-ups if I find the energy from somewhere :D

Have a good LC day everyone

seriously wondering about getting chickens (only for eggs!!)

There is a chicken pen in the garden of the house we are buying (hopefully!!) so we will def. be keeping chickens. There's also an overgrown walled garden, as well as the 'normal' garden so that's me sorted for the next 6 months! But I'm not counting my chickens yet (:rotfl:) as no one has exchanged contracts, and we still haven't heard from the bank

Anyway, to exercise matters! Apart from all the press-ups and walking, is there any general stretching and balancing exercises going on? I know what you are thinking (there's no pleasing her!!) but they all very important in the mix.

Re. press-ups. Here's a variation to help you do more, it depends what level you are up to, say for instance, you are up to 25
    Do 18 x 2, or 12 x 3 have about 30 secs rest between the sets.
    If 20, do 15 x 2, or 10 x 3.

It doesn't take much working out that you are doing 36/30.

Depending on how you feel, in your own time, increase by another 2 reps per set, and then once you are comfortable, go back to doing them all in one go. You will be amazed how much stronger you are :D

Did the workout you sent me Murphydog, great stuff, the squat jumps are always a killer, but in a good way :rotfl:

Did a lovely clean eating shepherds pie yesterday. Made the mince base as normal with onions, herbs, garlic & a tin of toms. Did a normal version for OH with mash on top. Just layered sliced sweet potatoes and cheese on top of mine, baked in oven. Gorgeous :)

Other half doesn't do clean eating/low carb so I tend to do 2 version of the same meal. EG roast chicken with chips and salad for him, roast chicken with huge salad for me.
