So far I have tins of Spam, tuna, sardines & pilchards, and a few tins of cheese. I have coupons to get another 5 free tins of Spam over the next few weeks. Oh, and I also have tins of ham, bacon grill, chicken, plus a few tins of vegetables which I will continue to build up over time. Think I will try and get a few tins of raspberries etc too.

    Ingredients.
1 large full head of broccoli divided into sections
1/2 a medium cauli (frozen fine, if fresh n/a), as above
2 rashers smoked streaky bacon or pancetta, finely chopped.
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 med green chilli, sliced (opt, it doesn't make it spicy hot, just gives a background heat)
    dessertsp of chopped fresh rosemary
    double cream
    S & P to taste
    chicken or veg. stock
2oz-ish blue cheese, not danish blue or stilton, I used blue shropshire but something like gorgonzola would work.

Other green stuff could also be used, like celery or leek.

Fry off bacon, when starting to colour add onion, chilli and rosemary (and celery/leek if using), allow to colour for a few minutes then add garlic. This should take no longer than 5-7 mins.

Add broccoli and cauli, mix well so the veg takes on the flavours, add the stock and seasoning, and cook until tender. Take off the heat. Add a good splosh of cream, and the cheese if using, and liquidise till smooth, check seasoning and serve.

    Easily ready in 25 mins.

If you don't use the cheese, parmesan would be nice grated on top, some sauteed mushrooms could be added when serving, or chopped chicken, or a dollop of creme fraiche and chives/herbs, swirled in.

Could be served on it's own (as in, with nothing in it) with sausages, or crispy baked mushrooms (with blue cheese stuffing or not) - take stalks out, coat in beaten egg, then flax seed, then bake 'til done. And probably numerous other things.....

Phew  glad it turned out well.

I googled 'tins of cheese' and there are some, but as far as I can see not in this country, unless it's a cultural/specialist thing?

I got my tin cheese from Tesco. It is in the foods of the world, where you find the asian & carribbean food. It is quite expensive about £2-£3 per tin. Mine is in a round red tin, if that helps.

Anyway, to exercise matters! Apart from all the press-ups and walking, is there any general stretching and balancing exercises going on? I know what you are thinking (there's no pleasing her!!) but they all very important in the mix.

I only do walking & push-ups at the mo, but intend going on the wii fit when the kids go back to school, would that be ok??
Thanks for the push-up tips, I'll be trying that.

Good list. I would add tinned mackeral fillets, salmon, stewing steak (also known as cat/dog food by some peeps on here!! :rotfl:). Jars of pickles?? Anyone got a dehydrator (I know Sunny has - must be time for her to come back soon ;))?? Buy a chest freezer & bulk buy frozen cauli, broc, green beans??

murphy, the broccoli & cauli soup sounds delish  I wish I could get my bahooky into gear & make some soup - I just cba with the prep :o

Where does everyone get their *insert name of veg that can be made into chips, think it begins with 'C' but I can't for the life of me remember the name even though we were only posting about it a couple of days ago* from?? I've looked in Mr. T (they've had it before but no sign now), M0rrisons & M&S - nada!! Really fancy trying them with a HM garlic dip.

Sadly, I find it quite revolting but many do seem to like it :shocked:_pale_ :rotfl:
