Its a 2lb loss this week
which means I am now into the next stone:j I have rewarded myself this morning by adding 6 raisins to my flax muesli:rotfl: I have also lost 0.5" off my waist and 0.5 off my bust. I'm feeling very positive at the moment.
Well done Jerry on 4 days no smoking.
I totally sympathize with you Sweet when it comes to making meals for the whole family. More often than not I make one thing for them and another for myself. This coming week I intend to make chilli meat loaf which I think we can all eat, I will have with vegetables and I will add a few potatoes for rest of family. It might get easier once DD2 goes away to Uni as then I can make curries, DD2 doesn't like these, she is also allergic to nuts so have to be very careful.Weight loss 0/2st

Well done durham_mim :T I often forget about chilli because of the beans but it would be another flavour, thanks.0

I used to buy Patak's curry paste to make an actual curry, so hopefully that will be ok.
Patak's is perfect, but there are so many brands around now that you have quite a choice.sweetserendipity wrote: »Thanks SHEILA, I'm pretty easy to please & will quite happily eat the same thing day in & day out - chicken & veg, chicken & veg & more chicken & veg!!No, my main problem is fitting this WOE in with what my family eat, so I'm not making everyone different meals. It's an on-going battle & very frustrating at times
Unfortunately it's not as simple as giving everyone the same thing, but adding extra carbs for them :wall: We're trying to come up with a solution though...
Well, it can be that simple. And it can be even simpler. Everyone in my family seems quite happy to sit down to lasagna made with courgette instead of pasta, but you could also use leeks a la the Hairy Bikers, aubergine (gives larger slices, just call it moussaka!) or baked sheets of egg/cream cheese.
Likewise with courgette noodles, people don't seem to have a problem with the fact that it's courgette not pasta. And DS2 loves to help make them. If you peel the courgette first they may not notice at all!
I've also had people not notice that they're eating mashed cauliflower (use loads of cheese and some mustard powder - no liquid), celeriac chips (smothered in garam massala or mixed herbs) and coconut cauliflower rice.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Mercy, that doesnt sound too bad at all, and the not having to think about food would definitely be a bonus for me! Don't think I'm 'ready' to go in that direction yet, but it's on the radar, think I'm going to do some more research. Thanks for sharing.
I use the pataks pastes too, find they go a long way. Think they are bogof in Tesco at the moment too.
Sweet, I love cooking but it does get brain melting cooking loads of different dishes for family everyday. I have veggie husband, toddler and an almost teenager who never used to be picky but is heading in that direction and I'm getting a lot of sulking at mealtimes.. frustrating! Not starting back today! Haven't eaten anything yet which I know is bad, but I am going to make good choices. I have some chicken in the fridge which I think I'm going to make into a jalfrezi, made husband dahl earlier in the week so he can have that. Also have steak marinating and lots of veggies so have the right foods for some good weekend meals.. it's a start.
Durham, well done on your loss and congrats at getting under your next stone barrier, that always feels AMAZING!
Hope you're all enjoying your weekend, it is pouring down hereI have lots of rock and roll stuff to do today such as going to the tip, cleaning inside windows, ironing, hoovering, paperwork.... when will this excitement ever stop! :rotfl:

murphydog - Please feel free to nag me with regards to wall push ups as I get busy and forget
Is the house going through smoothly?
Funnily enough, I was going to ask how everyone was doing on the press-up/exercise challenge, this morning.
Don't be shy, tell Auntie Murph (!) if you've been good......or not :A
Sheila - it's not getting any better! Have got the ombudsman involved with bank beginning with 'H,' and current bank STILL dragging their heels. Buying and selling houses is not for the feint-hearted
PS. That squash soup is probably the best I've ever made, really, really lovely, thanks to Merc for changing the recipe, what a pillock (me, not Mercy) not putting the main ingredient on the list!!

SHEILA, thanks so much for the menu ideas, what a lovely thing to do!! :kisses3: I would eat everything on that list (never tried celeriac chips but willing to give them a try) I've written them all down for reference. The family would eat some of them I'm sure.
durham, :T on the weight & inch loss & great to hear you're feeling so positive.
Can you let us know how the chilli meatloaf goes, it sounds lovely  If it's a success, can you post the recipe as well, pretty please??
daska, my family are so fussy sometimes, it's maddening!! Neither of my DDs will eat mince now. I'm actually thinking of trying braising or stewing steak instead to make cottage pie, chilli etc., not sure if it would work with lasagne as well??
Can I ask what you use to make the garam masala or herbs stick to the celeriac chips??Also, how long do you put them in the oven for & at what temperature??
cherry, thanks for the heads up on the BOGOF Pataks pastes, I might be going to Tesc0 tomorrow so will have a look.
I have 2 picky teenagers - they used to eat everything I put infront of them as well but that's all changed now, grrrr!!
Fingers crossed for Monday, although it sounds like you're being pretty good already
murphy, I can report 20 wall push-ups so far today & a 30 minute brisk walkShattered now though
I wanted to make the soup today but forgot to get leeks :wall:

Cherrypies - Well done on getting a job. You must be over the moon! Congrats..
Daska: That's so funny that your family are not noticing you mashing up cauliflour and passing it off as normal food.. lol.
Durham, so good to hear that you've lost 2.lb. It spurs me on.
After reading about your families and the different meals you all have to make, I feel i'm quite lucky its just me my husband and dog. I tend to eat the same as my husband but instead of the carb bit, i'll have yoghurt if its a curry, salad etc. Will start posting what I do with him foodwise. Someone might benefit.
I'm having a lovely day. Just lazying about. Had sheets up on line, but had to bring them back in as it keeps raining. No way am I going backwards and forwards. My sense of smell is returning, getting stronger. I am also noticing taste buds are stronger a bit. Teeth feel nice and clean. So far today food wise:
L: Ommelette made with cream cheese, stilton and brie and mushrooms and onions and red pepper. (just basically used up what I have in fridge at random. Was yummy. I added some herbs du provence to the mixture. Husband had the same but with 3 slices of bread ..
Snack: Can of smart price sardines 34 pence from Asda. Tastes the same as the more expensive brands... anyway, I found some cream cheese almost past its sell by date so I mashed the cream cheese into the sardines, added a bit of salt and a drop of chilli sauce.. and then I ate that with some carot batons I have in the fridge ( got a large bag for 20 pence the other night reduced)
Tonight, he is cooking, and we are having lamb curry. He's gong to have nan bread with his, but I will just have the lamb curry, with a bowl of yoghurt on the side. Might even grate some cucumber into the yoghurt.
I feel great. Moneysaving, stopped smoking and on diet and not forgetting.. have done a 20 min workout as well!
Waves to all. so glad that sweets is back L Cing.. ! YEa!0 -
