    Loving the poems!

Elantan, I'm sure you're not a slug! I know the feeling though, slugg-ish, feeling a bit that way myself, my own fault of course!

Daska, some great ideas with the herbs and spices there, thanks!

Jerry, glad you and Husband are speaking again, and go you with the not smoking! Be proud of yourself, a lot of people don't get past day 1! Powerful and empowered, fantastic! Enjoy the vodkas, you've earned them!

Mercy, how are you finding the Dukan in terms of how you 'feel'? I've toyed with it, but I love my veg and salad and worry I just wouldn't be able to stick with it. Whats a typical days food on your protein days? And don't just say 'meat' lol! The lack of fat plus lack of veg worries me! I envisage plates of steamed fish and cold turkey and while I enjoy them, couldn't eat like that for any length of time. And thanks for all of your hard work on the recipe list, love it! Would like to contribute one or two of my own if I may?

Alias, love peas but they tend to set me off craving carbs so I have to stay away :(

Andrewsmum, I'm looking forward to reading your recipe posts!

Murphy, that soup sounds gorgeous! I make butternut soup a lot but have never thought of pairing it with bacon.. lush! Def one for the menu this week, thanks!

Sweet, I'm trying to get my head around lc'ing too, the wagon is in sight! I'm naming Monday as my hop back on and I'm going to meal plan over the weekend in preparation, don't particularly want to but I have to do it! Fancy joining me in the Monday club? Dreading getting back on the scales as I've had almost 2 weeks off now since my best friend arrived and derailed me big time... but it HAS to be done!

Audrey, good luck with the Dr. D plan, keep us posted at how you're getting on :)

Sheila, my best friend was diagnosed with candida by a sympathetic Dr. and following a strict diet and some supplements she prescribed, she went from a size 16 to a size 8 in 8 weeks ( sounds impossible but I watched her practically melt before my eyes!) The transformation in her was just incredible, she had so much energy, the change was amazing. She's found it hard to maintain though, put most of it back on, alcohol and bread are her problems and apparently feed the candida. She was skinny and healthier but miserable as she couldn't do the things she enjoys :(

hope I've not missed anyone and hope you're all having a fab Friday :)

Thanks for the congrats guys, feeling pretty pleased with myself! It's only a 5 months contract but it's with a good company and it's a start :)

    Hi Cherry

All contributions of a low carb nature are more than welcome here :) Post your lovely food and just let me know pm wise then it'll appear within the next 12 days, ish :)

I feel better than fine on Dukan. You need to know I'd been about 6-8 months on regular LC at less than 20g carbs a day before this :D

I needed a shake up and Dukan seems to work for me.

You also need to know I don't snack. Sometimes I cheat, but in a regular day I have breakfast, lunch and an evening meal.

    On every weekday
B - protein shake - raw eggs, whey protein, lowfat cottage cheese, lactofree milk, cocoa, vanilla essence

    On my protein days
    Lunch - normally at work
    - chicken breast shredded, cottage cheese
    - Tuna in water, drained, cottage cheese
    - omlet with lowfat cream cheese, chillis, meat or fish, whole grain mustard, spices, herbs etc. Nice made night before and cold for lunch.

    Evening meals
Using oatbran in a gallette (pan fried wrap)
Any nicely cooked and seasoned meat
scrambled egg topped with salmon fillet
Smoked salmon eggyness maybe with oat bread

    or
    meat in the form of
2 chicken legs, still hot from the chicken from asda
    Other meat
followed by a oatbran pudding topped off with fromage frais. :j

Not so bad once you are doing 1 protein and 1 veg and protein days alternately.

I'm less interested in eating food than I used to be. For me that is good :) It's a means to an end, really.

All that said, I was v low carb anyway, this is the most planned carb I've been for 12 months and it seems to work.

    Ta chuck :)

I've addressed this on the recipe page.
It's now 'Butternut Squash soup - for 1 whole squash' :rotfl:

Sweetheart, you'll feel less sluggish once you come round properly :)

Drink 2L water every day, eat well, sleep as much as you can.

Sure you'll feel more like it soon! Then yay!:j

    Come back fighting!

I use whatever I think looks nice in the shop sweet, I don't worry too much about the carb count because the actual amount used is such a small proportion - but I will admit that I avoid the cheap pastes, I just think they're not worth the saving, they tend be harsher in flavour and I want to enjoy my food.

Thanks, I'll have a look :D I used to buy Patak's curry paste to make an actual curry, so hopefully that will be ok.
You could actually roast the squash beforehand it will deepen the flavour, great if you have got something else in the oven, but not totally necessary.

Mmmm, that's how the IPD make their butternut squash soup, but they don't use all the other ingredients & I think I prefer the sound of your version, thank you for posting it

sweet - if it is hard for you to sort out a menu then tell us what you have / what you like and maybe we can help you?

Thanks SHEILA, I'm pretty easy to please & will quite happily eat the same thing day in & day out - chicken & veg, chicken & veg & more chicken & veg!! :o No, my main problem is fitting this WOE in with what my family eat, so I'm not making everyone different meals. It's an on-going battle & very frustrating at times :( Unfortunately it's not as simple as giving everyone the same thing, but adding extra carbs for them :wall: We're trying to come up with a solution though...

Maybe you too, as well as alias should just start it off Dr Dahlqvist's way?

I was looking at her website the other day & thinking the exact same thing.

    Love you as well babelicious

Lololol, never been called babelicious before - oh if only I was!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Stop eating wheat for 1 week.

    See how you feel. ;)

I think you're right, something is definitely triggering my joint pain & it could well be wheat. Or sugar.

  • Think Dr D is the way forward for me, I looked at the Atkins induction foods and don't like dead animals enough to eat sufficient quantity.

Urgh, when you put it like that I don't think I do either!! _pale_
sweetserendipity, thanks to your craving for pea and ham soup, its somehow been transferred to me.

Oooooops, sorry :o:o but, if you do decide to make it on Monday, can I come round to your place, pretty please?? :rotfl:

sweet - your weekly menu could be - chicken with veg, cottage pie with cauliflower / potato mash, chicken curry, sausages with veg / potato/ yorkshire pudding, spaghetti bolognese with ribbon courgette / spaghetti, salmon / fish with veg or fish pie, same as cottage, fish and chips with celeriac chips for you, chicken coated in parmesan crust with salad .......Most of these my family will eat and I just change the veg or add pasta / rice for them. Desserts - have berries and cream, if you are allowed, and just crush a packet of meringues and mix up for Eton mess for the family. Other ideas if needed or look at Mercy's recipe list.

We will support you and your joints will thank you :)

Interesting menu Mercy - looks like you have Dukan sussed. I will drop carbs in an effort to start weight loss when kids are back at school but, if that fails, will come to you to help me try Dukan. Is that ok?

Out with family for lunch for ex's 60th birthday. More challenges as I have a housewarming party on Monday as well.

murphydog - I will try your butternut squash soup as it sounds lovely but may wait until the weather gets cooler as I am trying to eat salad when possible to counteract the meals out. Please feel free to nag me with regards to wall push ups as I get busy and forget :o Is the house going through smoothly?

Have a good day everyone and thanks for your humour, support and love x
