Can't compete with Alias (very good) but....

    For Jerry

    Don't go off the rail
    just because of a male
    it's times like these
that make us ill at ease
we're all behind you, all the way
today's going to be a lovely new day.

Hope you are feeling better x
  • Alias and murphy, your poems made me smile. What can I say? Thank you. I woke up this morning, feeling grumpy. Read all the posts on here, and decided to exercise. I did 20 mins on the bike and 20 mins Amy Childs on Sky, i've taped it.

It was weird to exercise when I feel depressed. I've never done that before. In the past, when depressed, I get out a bottle of vodka. So, how do I now feel? Invigorated! It really does help. I can't thank all of you enough for this help. Its amazing how people you've never met can spur you on!

Just about to go and have :

Red pepper strips dipped into cottage cheese, and egg mayo and strips of ham.

Lunch will be chicken and avacado salad.

Dinner will be Spinnach curry and salad.

Still craving a ciggy, but wont succumb.
  • Thank you Grey, Audrey and Cherry pies. You all are such huge support. I hope I am not always this much of a drama queen. Its only now, I realise why I waited so long to try to give up the ciggies after my last attempt three years ago, ended up with me losing all my friends and a lot of other stuff, and I started smoking again after about six weeks! Madness!

    You are A STAR!

When I see your user name I think *"Jerry" - so motivativated they named her 3 times*

20g of carb is the figure given for Atkins' Induction so completely do-able.

I stayed on Induction for weeks/months last time. Not dangerous at all.

Can ask what 20g "feels" like please?

I log on myfitnesspal and currently hitting around 120g total carbs a day (that includes at least 30g fibre, which I believe the Atkins diet would subtract from the total?

just wanted to say hi, for the first time on this thread. I am on a very low calorie low carb diet.i used to do the cambridge diet but it was so hard i came off after three weeks and even though i lost over 2 stone, it just wasnt worth it. over three months i put 7 pounds back on,and decided this had to stop. On monday i started a very low calorie low carb diet and havealready lost the 7lb i put on so its a woohoo from me. i am doing this for two weeks to kick start myself then going to try an alternative so i dont get fed up.

so far today i have had
    1 low carb cuppa soup
2lettuce leaves rolled with wafer this ham *yawn*

    It's really quite restrictive.

I'm lazy so I tended to stick to the same (easy) routine that involved a lot of chicken & fish. I hate cooking and recipes and meal planning, it's boring and makes me glaze over. :o I try to love it....but I just don't.:D

I would have an omelette for breakfast (late - 11am-ish), some lettuce leaves with a smear of mayonnaise (as butter) and tuna spread over them, then rolled up like wraps (around 3pm-ish) and chicken or fish for tea with either a small salad or a few veggies.

That was the basic menu but I'd tweak it daily, by adding/removing cheese or tomatoes or mushrooms etc.

It was hard for the first few days/week but it eventually got to the stage where I was having to force myself to eat asI just wasn't hungry.

Oh those were the days. :rotfl:

Then I started eating Atkin's bars and KP peanuts and the nasty stuff hit the fan thereafter. Cue eating more rubbish, cue diet falling apart, cue fat git again. :o

The Atkin's site had a useful list of 'allowed' foods whilst on Induction.

sarahcmo - low carb cannot also be low calorie as one defeats the other and you will get ill!! If you eat too little then your body goes into starvation mode and losing weight will be much harder. Also switching to low carb for 2 weeks and then changing will not do you or your body any good. My advice would be to decide on one type of diet and then stick with it. Low carb does not have to be boring and, in fact, you can eat lots and still lose weight. From June to September last year I lost nearly 3 stone so I can vouch for it.

Jerry - glad that you are feeling better today :) A belated Happy Birthday. You are right, exercise increases endorphins and you will feel good, a double whammy and much better than vodka :D

AudreyHepburn - 20g is doable but hard as it cuts out life's little luxuries. 50g is much easier. All American websites use gross carbs and you subtract the fibre. All English foods already have the fibre deducted on the packaging so you cannot subtract them again. Correct me anyone if I am wrong in this please?

alias - are you an idiot or a pregnant camel then (git)? I eat similar foods each day except for dinner as it is easier but I do have a lot of fish and chicken.

I hope that you are all having a good day xx
