thank you for that , i know i have to do something but i thought the 2 weeks kick start would give me the push i needed i have been looking at slimming world but cant see how eating that much can make you loose weight so have dissmissed that one so looking at all the others over the next few weeks . will keep you posted
It's quite possible to lose weight while still eating what to some would be an enormous amount of food for someone 'on a diet'. In fact it's pretty typical for low carb: steak and a shed load of green veg followed by strawberries and cream. And that's just supper.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Mmmmm. Stawberries and cream. Yes. I'm going to get myself some. Today has been calm and good. Husband and I are speaking again. All is good. I went for a long walk with my dog as well today. And I've eaten very sensibly. What do we all think of those Matteson's chicken pieces in spices?0

sarahcmo - daska always gives sound and good advice so please listen to her. She is a wise lady
daska - I have never been good with herbs and spices so give me an idea of what to use with what please. I really don't like parsley though. I have rosemary, thyme, sage and coriander growing in my garden / tub but only tend to use them occasionally.
Jerry - so glad that today is betterNot keen myself on anything with additives so prefer plain chicken with mayo or coleslaw and salad. Some of them also have added dextrose etc.

thank you, I think...
Thyme: I use it in simple scrambled eggs. Another good one is Kufta kebabs always go down well here and you can use the mix to stuff other things such as mushrooms.
Rosemary: works well with pretty much everything (I think) and makes a nice hot drink as well, just put a small sprig in a mug and pour on boiling water.
Sage: I don't use this very much except for stuffings at Xmas but I do use it in nut loaf.
Coriander leaf: I can kill coriander at 20 paces, good thing I'm not over keen on it LOL. The exception is when it's combined with mint, that's brilliant and works well with chicken, fish and veg. Try the Haryali Pudina paste from Waitrose - use it as a marinade and roast or add a bit of cream to make a sauce.
How about Basil, that's relatively painless to grow and works in most tomato dishes - raw or cooked.
Oregano is great with mushrooms and is one of the few herbs that thrives in my flowerbed.
Do you like curry? A lot of the simplest sauces can be jazzed up with a little curry paste and it keeps well in the fridge. I often coat a chicken with jalfrezi paste and leave it to marinate overnight before roasting - works well with pieces as well. (Do the same with Pesto)
Spices I throw in everything with gay abandon. Cinnamon and coriander are great in lamb stews and coffee. Ginger for cold drinks, especially with lime. Onion seed adds a bit of extra interest to crackers.
(I tend to avoid Cumin because DS2 won't touch anything too strong and I'm not overkeen on it myself.)
Sometimes I just have a good smell of what's cooking then start opening jars and see what goes well. It's all a great adventure...Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I'm on day 4 of my no smoking. Gave up 6.00 pm officially on monday. And I feel powerful. Empowered. Today, i've done 24 mins on exercise bike and then two of Amy Childs workouts.
Felt hungry. So polished off some ham on its own.
Lunch: Prawns - stir fried with peppers and a tomato and avacado salad
Dinner: Pizza and salad. Not low carb at all, but i'm treating myself. Also will have a few vodkas with slimline tonic later on tonight.
Have two bottles of water one in freezer and one in fridge, ready to consume today. Have already drank half a litre!0 -

:T Well done! It apparently takes 3 weeks for a habit to form and 3 weeks to break one, so keep going.
Ok guys, I need a ballpark opinion.
OH made a pot of pea and mint soup last night. It has peas (obviously) and carrots, celery and mint as far as I can remember.
Thoughts on whether I can eat or should avoid? I have no clue what it's carb content would be.Herman - MP for all!0
