Yes Serena, I remember both. I never realised the connotations of the Captain Pugwash though :D

My grandson loved Button Moon and we had to buy the videos second hand as they were old hat - any takers?

Yes, I too was innocent of the innuendo in Captain Pugwash!
And I'm now singing the song'we're off to button moon, to follow mr.tune(well that's what I used to sing)...button moooon.
aaah, they don't make em like that do they!!!

Just had 2 eggs, haloumi and mushrooms, so ready to face the world!
We go to a family wedding tomorrow,so have to find my son some trousers that he can wear, have been persuading him that black jeans really are not wedding finery!!!Trouble is he's small waisted and long legged!!

Have a good day everyone, resist the sugar/grains/starch/ciggies.xx
  • Hello everyone. Today is better than yesteday, with regard to cravings. BUT, if someone offered me a ciggy right now, i'd take it. I'd do anything for one. But I guess that's the power of that awful weed. I'm sort of happy ish that i'm doing this.

Cherrypies: I will go and do that now, get carots and things like that washed and cut and put in the fridge. Thanks for that. Yes.. anything I put in my mouth will be better !

Mercy - Thanks for the link. May need it if times get hard. But I have a strange feeling i'm over the worst. So good that you've gone 4 months. You know what those first days are like!

Audrey. No, I didn't go to doctors. It was a few things that happened. Firstly, the money situation, and sharing it on here, and it got me thinking about quitting. Then we (DH and I) went to a dog show and out of ALL the people there, we were the only two smoking! THEN, and this is sad. We didn't buy DH any fruit for his sandwich box as we needed money for tobacco that week. He had to go without fruit so that we could smoke! I think this shameful thought was the last straw.

So Monday, I hardly smoked. Just made the little bit of tobacco I had left, last. Then at Six pm, he came home from work and rolled out two ciggies from the last of his tobacco. I told him i'd not bought any. We discussed it together, then we sat outside on the bench in the garden and smoked our last one! Since then, we have not spoken to each other much as I snapped at him. Its the withdrawel thiing. I'm getting very angry. But ok today. Sister is coming to visit. She gave up five years ago and is very supportive. Going to cook:

Lunch: Spag Bol. I wont have Spag. I'll have salad. I got Mince for 23p in Tesco last night!! I went at the right time!
    Dinner: Hmmm. Undecided. I've got
Lots of water! carrot sticks to be chopped. etc.

We have worked out that we are going to save #35 per week - that means a trip to the hair salon, fruit for DH...and extra treats for us both! Also, will help with bills.. we really are stretched to the limit, and I know this is for the best. Thanks for reading and helping me. Have a great day all my fellow Low Carber friends!

Sorry I've not posted for a while. I got some book from the library to give me something to do whilst the Olympics were on. Once I get my nose in a book I have to finish it before I do anything else. Also it is difficult to get computer time whilst children are off school as they hogg it.

I'm still on track with low carbing but we are having a few days out soon so that will be challenging.

Well done Jerryx3 on giving up smoking. You're doing really well!:T

Love all the remeniscing. I too loved Watch with Mother programmes. My favourites were, Andy Pandy, the Wooden Tops and Pogles Wood.

  • I watched Andy Pandy too.

I watched a few t.v. programmes when young, but don't remember liking any of them except: Rentaghost. Audrey Roberts was in it, and now she's in Corrie.

I was of the Rainbow, bagpuss, and pipkins era, born in the late 60's.

We didn't have TV when I was young. My dad refused to get one until BBC2 came to the north. :p

I was more of a reader when young. Loved reading Milly Molly Mandy stories. And Charlie & the Choc factory and one of my all time faves: Fantastic Mr Fox!

Have got a pot of cottage cheese from Tesco sat on shelf in fridge with a teaspoon sticking out of it. Having a spoon every time I pass fridge. Also have strips of ham out open.. munching on that as well.

Have made Chilli con carne instead. Will give sis a jacket potato and I will have mine with lots of chedder sprinkled on top. Its all bubbling away gently on stove. Weird that the (not low carb - Kidney beans) were more expensive than the mince on this occasion! Have made loads so will have that for dinner as well.

    S

Avstar has been conspicuous by her absence recently - are you lurking?

I've devised a short and (not-so) sweet circuit-HIT-type routine that's really good, if anyone is interested (perhaps Mr and Mrs G / Avstar?)

Aw sorrry Murphydog been so busy working, blogging, sewing. Stll doing clean eating and working out, would love to see the HIT routine, thats my kinda workout!

    Hi Jerry

    Well done Mercy! :T

For whoever was asking about milk alternatives (soy milk is minging urgh!) I've really grown to love unsweetend almond milk, really low in carbs/calories. The alpro one is awful with added sugar :( but the Blue Diamond Almond Breeze one from tesco (in fridge or UHT too) is lovely.

Had my birthday blow-out the other week and it reminded me why I can't do carbs in moderation...all or nothing for me...and it was *ALL* that weekend LOL. But back on track now.

Made a lovely easy veg curry to eat & freeze. Use whatever veggies you want. This is my clean eating one but low carbers can easily tweak to replace the peas etc.

    Recipe you know where.

Has anyone watched the Hairy Dieters programme? While they focus too much on removing fat for my liking, and are still having too many processed carbs (crumpets for brekkie eek) there are some good ideas in there. Going to try the lasagne using leeks as pasta sheets.

    Yesterday looked like this:

Brekkie - homemade toasted oat & nut muesli with almond milk (clean eating but not LC)
Lunch - salad with chicken and avocado (I'm learning to like it!)
Dinner - backed spiced basa fish with salad.
Snack - almonds, and an orange (clean but not LC)

Aha, there you are! I'll PM you the routine as it's not exactly on-topic.

Haven't watched the Hairy Bikers new prog. as I guessed it would be 'towing the line' re. fat and would annoy me. That said, it's probably better watching them than the Great B.B.'off :naughty:
