Hi everyone
Back from taking away DGD to Bournemouth for a few days, off with grandkids again on Saturday to visit my brother. I have been pretty good overall and walked miles.
daska - thanks for the thyroid link
marbett - well done :T
andrewsmum - how did the loaf turn out?
murphydog999 - thanks for the info. How is the move going?
I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how to firm up lots of hanging skin and flab. Having lost so much weight I really look a sight undressed so any advice would be a help.
Have a great day and keep up the good work everyone0 -
Murphydog - thank you. You always take the time and trouble to explain clearly and are a great asset to this thread.:T
Thanks to everyone else too, now things have settled down again this is a nice place to hang out.
I had a good first day yesterday. After the talk about gammon steaks I took myself off to L*dl and bought some for tea with cauli cheese.
I'm going to try not to drink tea today as I know it stalls me. I think I may float home with all the water I'm drinking.0 -

Morning everyone:hello:
Just a quickie cos I'm supposed to be working - sheila, I haven't any real advice, but I was in the same position a few months ago. All I can say is keep on keeping on, and it will get better. I've been doing some toning exercises, but my belly fat was still gross (we're talking double armsful ). Now it's down to a single handful this morning. All I've done really is keep on with the low carbing. Hope that makes sense. Gotta dash, have a good day everyone.
Edit:
Has anyone read this = http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm
I must admit I was very sceptical at first, but it seems to be working for me0 -

Thanks murphydog, have just bought some coconut oil and will use it for frying but was trying to think of ways of eating it too.
Feel a bit under the weather today, been threatening with a sore throat for a few days and been taking vit C and vit D plus gargling with salt wateer but don't think I'm winning the battle:(
I'm craving carbs today prob cos I don't feel well but have resistsed so far.
Yesterday went like this
brekkie- homemade toasted oat & nut muesli with almond milk (clean eating not low carb)
snack - orange (clean eating not low carb)
lunch - corned beef hash type thing (corned beef fried up with onion, tomato, chopped pepper & chilli) with a salad
Dinner - roast chicken and veggies
Snack - 2 sausages & some nuts0 -
hiya
fed up today so might be having choccy later but i will try to resist. hole by front door is now in the hands of insurance company so will have to find the excess money assuming its covered and really panic if its not. cant do anything until someone comes out so will try not to worry.

l - mince and veg with some marmite cheese (yuk)

No, he is absolutely right - without blowing my own trumpet too loudly, so am Iand I have mentioned it quite frequently on here!
For those that don't want to to read through the link.......if you decide to loose weight by following a calorie controlled diet, what is not made clear is that you will loose body mass and water, yes, it's 'weight' but it is the last thing you want to be losing.
You need to be losing fat!! (I really wish to god that the people who are [STRIKE]brainwashed [/STRIKE]disciples of SW and WW - amongst similar others - would understand this.)
When you loose mass (muscle) you loose form. When you see someone and say 'they look fit,' they appear toned with firm skin, compared to someone else who is the same weight but appear fatter and flabby - the flabby person may have lost 'weight,' but they haven't lost fat, whereas the 'fit-looking' person who has a healthy diet and exercises regularly is more likely to have less fat.
Now, the low-carb way of eating doesn't worry too much about calories and, in the main, most of us are eating good amounts of fat and protein, so the vagaries of low calorie, low-fat eating, shouldn't apply too much for us. However, no-one should be resting on their laurels and not taking exercise, specifically weight-bearing exercise, else muscle mass WILL be lost.
Whilst Sheila's question was about toned skin, it is much more than that. Without muscle you will become weak and frail as you age, more prone to injury and back problems - as you won't be able to retain your posture - your balance will be compromised and your body will not have the strength to stop you falling hard and sustaining injury; once that happens your confidence fades, you become less mobile, and the downward cycle continues.
I'm sure we all know people like this. It's not a happy picture but without exercise, and being a healthy weight, this IS what happens. You only get back what you put in.
I've learnt that people in the 'diet' industry just don't 'get' this theory, but people in the fitness industry do - it's a different mindset. That's why personal trainers with additional nutritional diplomas, are worth their weight in gold, if you are looking for a long-term 'total' health and fitness plan, rather than a short term fix.0 -
murphydog999 - thanks for the info. How is the move going?
It's not - thanks for asking, still haven't found anywhere! Viewing more tomorrow - deep joy
PS Re. my previous post, if your weight loss has left you with large folds of skin, surgery may be your best option, only a specialist would be able to advise though.0 -
Thanks. I have a lot of skin with some fat under arms, loads of cellulite looks like putty blobs on thighs and still have the belly roll which is smaller but doesn't want to shift. Sounds revolting and, if I look in the mirror I really don't like what I see so have to just keep trying I guess. Lower legs are more toned, face, arms and neck slimmer so it isn't too bad with clothes on
If I haven't put you off your food, enjoy and keep at it.
nuttybabe - I have always turned to food in a crisis in the past but you can get past it if you can find something else to make you happy. How about a bath with smellies and candles, a walk in the sunshine?
avstar - sorry that you are under the weather. Keep up with the vitamin C, zinc and lots of fluids. Hope that you feel better soon.
Gray Malkin and murphydog - yes I think that I still have quite a high fat % but how do you measure muscle mass please?
murphydog999 - hope that you are lucky with the viewing tomorrow0
