Thanks everyone for the help. I have the Atkins book and was vaguely following that. I re-read it this afternoon and realise I am eating too many carbs. Am going to try the induction 2 weeks starting from tomorrow. I was so dis-illusioned this morning because I lose weight so slowly. I lose a couple of pound and then I have to wait about 3-4 weeks until after totm before I lose any weight again, so in effect, I only lose about 2lb a month. I would just like to lose weight a bit more consistently and perhaps a little faster.

Re: the leafy greens, I bought a living salad from Lidl 2 weeks ago but I've been waiting for it to grow back again, I'm eating it quicker than it grows :rotfl:

I have the oatcakes on the day I do my main shopping because I usually have little time to cook/make anything. I need to think ahead and get organised.

Anyway will just plod on and hopefully next weekend I will be able to report a loss. Thank you all for your help and encouragement - it was just what I needed.

A little :money: tip for ketostix users, if you cut them straight up the middle with a clean scissors as you are using them, it halves the cost. Makes a very thin strip but just as effective ;)

Morning all. Feeling a bit bloated (I suffer with Fibroids and 3 months ago, had a embolization), so I think that could be it.

Anyway, another dull day of applying for jobs. Sat at home. Today will go like this:

B: Decaff Coffees with Double cream
L: Gammon steak with either a fried egg or mushrooms, can't decide
D: Chicken cooked in a cream and mustard sauce with shredded cabbage fried off in a wok with some herbs du provence.

Might nip into Lidl if there is a dry patch (an hour without rain) and get some more double cream, eggs, cabbage and courgettes in.

Hi Durham. Do you have a full time job? If so, then that can take a lot of your time up. If you can do most of your prep in the evenings, then that might help. Or getting up about half an hour earlier in the morning. When I am working, I tend to do a packed lunch first thing and then go up and have a bath etc.

I have Chronic lyme Disease, which is like ME, so I don't have much energy. I don't work, wouldn't be able to cope with that. I can't even manage most of the housework, OH does it. That's why its seems as if most of my energy is being taken up with food prep/cooking.

Oh. I'm sorry about that Durham. Do you like eggs? I sometimes boil a whole batch of eggs and keep them in a tupperware container.

I think you would need to find a whole load of very quick and easy recipes. I'm afraid I tend to stick with the same old things, such as fried meat. But i'm sure there are loads of recipes on line that could speed things up. It wouldn't be so bad if the weather was nice. Then you could pre prepare loads of salads.

durham_mim - Why not make a list of the things that you like most, carb count them and prepare in bulk. I do this as I am the only person in my household following a low carb diet and it makes life easier.

Appt with GP tomorrow about thyroid and lipid blood tests. If they are still bad she will put pressure on me to stop the low carb diet so fingers crossed. I have tried to explain but she thinks that I am stubborn :D
