Mercy - thanks for the info about supplements, what do you actually take daily and how do they help? Must be good to have veg and protein days now - how are you finding it?
elentan - get well soon. I also take high doses of vit C when I get a cold but not as much as Mercy as my stomach wouldn't like it - have GERD
Have a great day
It's my first PV (protein n veg) day today and I haven't had any veg yet :rotfl: Will be having a chicken drumstick with salad in a bit and shredded chicken with ham and green beans in a wrap using fromage frais as dressing much later. As there is only me here and a full chicken needs eating it will appear tomorrow too:rotfl:
supplements
Vit D
magnesium - restless legs and sleep, not much veg in diet
K2 - losing weight and drinking lots of water can deplete potassium, not much veg in diet
Both magnesium and K2 are needed for vit d to work properly, for bone health they help direct the calcium to the correct areas like bones.
codliveroil - crepitus
Vitamin C - no fruit, generally good for a body
More recently as I have knocked the alcohol out I've been taking milk thistle to give my liver all the help I can. As a happy liver is important for gastric health and digestion.
Sheila, have you ever tried 'ester-c' it's a different way of getting vit c without the acidic effect. A guy at work uses it as he is allergic to vit c in normal forms like fruit etc.

durham_mim just had a little look through your blog (I'm ABSOLUTELY not telling you what to eat here, we all have our way and our goals and tastes and style of eating etc) but if it was me and I was disheartened with my weight loss... I'd cut out the flax, almonds and carrots (and the ice cream!) for a while and see if that makes a difference. Whearas all of those things above are great foods (apart from the ice cream), I think they are better tolerated in later phases of low carbing, not at the beginning when the target is fat loss.
This is just my two penneth, I hope you don't take it as criticism, it's absolutely not!0 -
Hi Durum Mim. I'm sending you a hug. I've read in many places that we are all different and that if you just persevere, it WILL work. It has to. I also know that a lot of people have some weeks where there is no weight loss, but they hang in there and then the next week, or week after, they lose a lot. So just keep going. You owe it to yourself!! Hugs from me as well! x P.s. your blog is great.0

Thanks for the advice, I haven't taken offence, in fact I welcome any help I can get. I too have had another look this morning comparing the week when I lost weight to this week. The only difference I could see was I had less flax. I know the ice cream is bad, I am just using up a tub I had left, it will be gone this week then no more ice cream! The thing is I had ice cream the week I lost, but will see if I lose more without it. Cutting out the flax means I need more meat/protein which is proving expensive, will give it a try though.Weight loss 0/2st

Mercy - thanks, I will look into it. I usually take 500mg 4 times a day when I have signs of a cold, recommended when I was doing my nursing training, but I was told then that your body can only absorb 500mg at any one time. Long time ago now so maybe things have changed.
durham - mim How long have you been sticking to low carb now?
cherrypies - looking forward to getting to know you
sistercas - don't worry, you will get there, you know you will. Mine was 45 before I started this and I am sure that you are nowhere near that .
mazzers - similar to me. My family have now decided that I look fine and will look scraggy if I lose any more as I have excess skin etc. We'll see but nice of them anyway
It is so nice that everyone is getting along again and being so kind and helpful:j
breakfast - scrambled egg with 1 rasher bacon
lunch - 2 sausages, 1oz cheese, 1 ryvita, half avocado
snack - 1 oz 70% chocolate, 1 tsp peanut butter
dinner - chicken & veg, almond pancake with raspberries and cream0 -
sweet I am liking your avatar :T;)0

feeling really relaxed and chilled drinking my de caff coffee with double cream.
just been to 'm' supermarket, and got 2 packs of diced turkey thigh meat, each was 75p for 500g also got reduced venison burgers and treated myself to a punnet of strawberries, which i will also have witht he double cream. i cant call this way of eating a diet, cos to my mind, a diet is about suffering boring bland food and being hungry lol
B greek yogurt with chopped nuts
L bacon and egg
snack piece of cheese, and a coffee with cream
D freshly cooked ham done in slow cooker with salad and mayo
strawberries and cream, if i have room
snack later 1 ounce almonds

Cauliflower cheese is one of my staple foods - I have it at least twice a week. I just boil or steam some cauli (or microwave it if frozen), then make a cheese sauce using double cream or soured cream (my fave) warmed slowly on the hob, then add grated cheese till it melts. Sometimes I add philly with garlic and herbs. Pour over the cauli in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle some grated cheese on top. Stick in oven until cheese is bubbling. Apply to face :rotfl: Delish.0 -
durham_mim - sorry to put a dampner on things but looking at your blog I wonder if you are eating too many carbs. If you were doing Atkins you would have 20 carbs per day for the first 2 weeks and then up by 5 carbs a week until you stopped losing which would put you on 30 - 35 carbs a day at the moment.
Bakewell porridge contains oats and has agave nectar, both of which are relatively high in carbs. Add in the milk and, depending on the amount you have, it could be quite high. Nairn oatcakes are 4.6 carbs each also.
Please let us know if we can help in any way0
