Sorry to hear you are suffering, hun.
Can I recommend using vitamin c
The reasons behind it

The how
http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/surefire.shtml
I have used this method to great effect with colds / flu symptoms. Now, as soon as I feel a start, I reach for the vitamin c.
I take 1g (2x500mg) every 20-30 mins, to bowel tolerance. (This means soft stools.) Then I give it an hour and take 1g every hour for a couple of hours then every 2 hours.
Going off how I feel I may reduce the time between doses again or take more at a time as bowel tolerance is different for everybody and increases with the level of disease. Once I feel in control I take maintenance doses of 500mg - 1g morning, lunch and evening for about 3 days after symptoms have gone.
This has never failed me. When others are suffering I sail through with much reduced or no obvious symptoms.
It is important to use vitamin c which includes bioflavinoids / rosehip as these are much more effective than without. Widely available and cheap. I have used asda's and H&Bs to great effect but any will do if bioflavinoids are present.
We cannot OD on vitamin C as it is water soluble and the body rejects any excess - bowel tolerance
Google will provide more info all I can tell you is what works for me

A bottle of vitamin c sits beside my hand cream at work, in my bag and on the bedside table as well as the medicine cupboard - I like it close to handlow carb recipe list - link on page 1 low carb support threadYou don't have any control over what life throws at you.You DO have control over how you react0 -

I think echinacea needs to be taken for a week or two to improve immune system.
At least give it a try, if it works for you you will need less of the covonia surup and feel a bit better more quickly
I was amazed the first time I tried it. My workmates laugh as if anyone starts sneezing they hear the rattle of the vitamin c bottle from my area :rotfl:

as I've had success with Asda's I don't think it really matters as long as the ingredients include bioflavinoids / rosehip. They also sell ones without and they don't work as well and are often a little cheaper.
Asda's are £4 for 60 @ 500mg or 3 tubs for £10. I keep an eye on H&B site and will buy from them when they have a sale on. :rotfl:
I think that Vit C is so cheap it's not worth the effort of supplying anything which is not what it says it is on the label.
Hope you feel better soon

Well, I'm off to sunnier climes in a few hours. It will be interesting to see what effect two weeks of holiday eating and drinking has on my weight. We are self catering so I'm hoping to keep the low carb think going as much as possible. It may be easier than I think because, over the last six month, my tastes have changed. I ate a KitKat yesterday and it was absolutely disgusting. I would have spat it out but didn't want to offend the person who gave it to me. Yuk!0

Hi all
Edited to add:
I was arguing with friends last week about how fat doesn't make you fat etc, it's carbs that make you fat and at some points I felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall. There is such ingrained resistance and disbelief that the medical profession et al could be so wrong. So I sent them a couple of links and hope that they will read them!
But I'll post them here to remind us that's it's not just about the weight loss, it may be about saving lives as well! Vegetable oils are my particular gripe at the moment so, if you do, please stop using them. It's butter, olive and coconut oil all the way....

Also zinc for colds:

Hope you feel better soon.

*waddles out*
I hope you're going to *waddle back in* soon, lovely to see youBtw, my BMI is higher, I've really piled the beef on this time _pale_
Morning all :hello:
Lovely sunshine today so I think a trip out is on the cards :j
Jerry, I like the sound of the mackerel fillets & cream cheese as well, can't abide raw celery though so would just have to tuck in with a fork or put it on my GG crispbreads!! I've got some Princes mackerel fillets in a spicy tomato sauce that I'm going to have one lunchtime - 4.7g per 100g for a 125g tin, ok for me carbwise as I'm trying not to go too low this time.
Mercy, I seem to remember you take cod liver oil - can I ask what dose you take, please?? I bought some one-a-day from Home Bargains but I don't think they're very strong.
Gloom, hope you have a lovely holiday
Hope everyone else is well, apart from poor elantan, get well soon
B - 2 egg mushroom & gruyere omelette
L - GG crispbreads with topping, cherry toms (picnic style)
D - chicken, cauli, green beans, cheesy leeks
Will also have strawberries with a blob of greek yoghurt at some point & a few almonds for supper.
Have a good LC day everyone :wave:0
