Mercy, I seem to remember you take cod liver oil - can I ask what dose you take, please?? I bought some one-a-day from Home Bargains but I don't think they're very strong.

    Hiya!

I do take CLO as without it my crepitus is very noisy and often painful :rotfl:

I use 1000mg a day. Also from Asda :D I did try going down to 500mg but after a week or so the crackling started again. Took a week to get it ok again so will be sticking there.

From experimenting I find that if you are treating a problem with CLO you need to go slightly high for a month (1000mg/day) then pare back to see if a lesser amount works just as well. You may need to reach a good level first but could maybe maintain after that with less. :money: and there's no point taking more than you need :D

Well I have just munched my way through scrambled eggs topped with smoked salmon bits. :j

    Incredibly tasty :D

Off to asda in a bit to get a nice selection of green beans, spinach and cherry toms for my protein and veg days. Will go the long way round to get the required exercise and may do some weights later.

Quite sunny with duller patches here so think I'll wear something summery. :T

Off to blow the dust off my fancy vest top :rotfl:

Have a lovely day, all! :T:beer::j:D:rotfl:

Morning everyone. Feeling a bit fed up today. Was more disappointed than I thought at not losing weight yesterday. Either the diet isn't working or I'm doing something wrong. I keep hearing how others are losing at least 5lbs in their first week and here I am a month in and I've only lost 2lb. I think I'm getting obsessed about my weight. Being this size is really getting me down, even my husband weighs less than me now. Moaning aside, I definately think this is a healthier way to eat, I'm still battling with the amount of fat in the diet but it seems to work for others. Will just keep plodding on. I'm dreading putting any more weight on. I'm also tired from all the extra work involved in preparing this type of food.

    Hi Everyone

Gloomendoom - have a great holiday

Mercy - thanks for the info about supplements, what do you actually take daily and how do they help? Must be good to have veg and protein days now - how are you finding it?

elentan - get well soon. I also take high doses of vit C when I get a cold but not as much as Mercy as my stomach wouldn't like it - have GERD

sweetserendity - sounds like you are settling in to it, still no sign of carb flu?

durham - mim are you eating and drinking enough? I found that I didn't for a couple of weeks early on, upped the amount and then lost. Also certain things seem to stop some people losing e.g nitrates, coffee. You sound a bit down today so hugs x

A bit sunny but overcast today here - plan to spend some time moving and potting out plants. May have a barbecue.

    Have a great day :)

My bmi is 33.. i dont think i look/feel that fat though :D
  • A bit naughty last night as I had another 3 large vodkas. However, today is looking good. I've had about 4 decafs with double cream.

L: Mozzeralla, basil and tomato salad with virgin olive oil drizzled over.
D: Salmon steak with cauliflour cheese.

Hi all, and good morning! I've been thinking about de-lurking and actually contributing instead of just reading and appreciating, so here I am. I've been low carbing for approx 10 years on and off. My weight fluctuates A LOT, I eat really well, I cook everything from scratch but unfortunately I'm a food obsessive/foodie and lover of good restaurants... If I'm honest with myself I use low carbing as Nigella does, I eat rather decadently for a few months and drink lots of wine and then low carb to put the damage right ... not good and I need to even it out to stabilise my weight for good and get off this see-saw. I know what works for me, I know what I *should* be doing, I just don't always do it!!!

So, I'm starting posting in order to have some accountability in a public forum, to food diarise and hopefully give something back for all of the helpful information I've received from this thread in the time I've been lurking.

    Lovely to *meet* you all!

    Food for today:

B: Scrambled eggs, bacon and mushrooms
L: Homemade cream of cauliflower soup
D: Spicy chicken with a greek salad

Snack: Handful of almonds, 1/2 cup greek yog, maybe a few strawberries.

durham_mim Do you keep a food diary? If you're not losing it might be an idea to try write every single item down, down to the smallest morsel. When I first started low carbing, I couldn't understand why I wasn't losing like my friend was as, to my mind, I was sticking to it religiously. When I tracked my food methodically, I realised my *only* deviation was the 2-3 cups of coffee I was having every morning with skimmed milk. To my mind, such a small amount of low cal milk couldnt possibly be making a difference, but once I removed it and swapped out for a tablespoon of cream, the weight started coming off. With some people, it can be the coffee itself or dairy in general, trial and error should identify if there is a specific item you need to cut out. Good luck.

Also whenever I hit a significant stall, I eat 'clean' for a week and take it right back to basics, which for me is lean meat for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and either chicken or fish with steamed vegetables for dinner. Not exactly inspiring, but it works.

My blog is my food diary. I will take a look and see why I lost the week before and not this week but I can't think of anything different I have done. I only ever drink Redbush tea or bottled water, so it is not caffeine thats the culprit.
