    Anyone else getting leg cramps?
Mine are really terrible lately, I'm even getting them in the front of my one leg, never had cramp there before in my life!

I've been eating peanuts every day (I brush off most of the salt though) in case it's salt loss as I don't eat any additives and never add salt to food as I don't like the taste.

I also forget to eat a lot of the time. Yesterday I had a bowl of strawberries and cream at lunchtime with a few peanuts after, and then realised at bed time that I hadn't had tea. Still not hungry this morning, I wonder if I'm not eating enough and maybe that's why I get cramp?

Hi carer, Others probably know more but I find I get leg cramps if I don't eat enough veg. so I am not as low carb as many on here. I also take a daily vitamin which seems to help.

    Morning!
Welcome to this lovely thread newbies and returners. Here you will find like-minded people who 'get' the ups and downs eating like this brings.
I'm doing a few weeks work in a summer school for foreign students(juniors), giving them lunch and 2 evening meals. So many carbs to resist!! I've coped for 3 days so far.....
I've still got 5 lbs to go to my target and its sloooooow going! Never mind, I think my shape is still changing slightly.
I need to get some coconut oil-is the best one on amazon?

    Morning too,

I got mine from Holland & Barrett. They were offering a second one for a penny at the time, but I'm not sure if the offer is still on. I'm fairly sure it's free delivery too.

EDIT - Note to self - read the rest of the thread before replying :o

Well done Mercy on the 12 week no-smoking achievement :j

Welcome back sweetserendipity, I was around a couple of years ago and am back doing low carb with a clean eating slant.

Ta Murphydog for Coconut Oil link, want to get some for cooking but also because I've heard its a great moisturiser for skin and conditioner for hair.

Carer I suffered with terrible leg cramps when I did strict low carb, which were eased with a potassium supplement. This time round I'm not doing such a strict regime, much more veggies and some fruit and touch wood I've been OK.

Did a blog post yest about a lovely clean easting dessert/treat I made for a dinner party but it's clean eating rather than low carb (has dates in it) so won't post a pic unless you want me to? LOL!

Today looks like this so far:

Brekkie: homemade toasted oat & nut muesli with almond milk (not Alpro urgh!) (This is clean eating & not low carb)
    snack - almonds
Lunch will be - chunky salad with chicken & mayo
Dinner will be - grilled peppered mackeral from Aldi with salad & coleslaw.
Hald a ruby grapefruit as a snack, loving the sour taste! (clean not low carb)

I've felt ridiculously tired for the last few months, have joint pain in my shoulder, wrists & ankles & felt generally 'bleurgh', but I've just had my blood results back & everything came back normal. I was seriously expecting to be told, yes, you have an underactive thyroid or yes, you have diabetes (family history for both) but apparently I'm fine  Except I'm not, as I still feel ridiculously tired, have joint pain & feel 'bleurgh'...

Anyway, that's why I'm hoping to return to the lc woe. I've bought stuff (woohoo to cream, butter & my fave GG crispbreads!! :rotfl:) & am all set to start tomorrow, fingers crossed.

I'll start reading this thread again & will post occasionally, promising that in future I'll be :j & instead of the grumpy old moo I'm being tonight!!

    Bye for now

    Sweet! Happy days. :j *waves*

Get Mazz posting more and we've got the set back! Well almost, cos Mercy's kinda on the fence a bit, but the others are floating around. :D

I feel exactly like you do. And like you I've been tested for all sorts but I'm fine apparently. I think we're just beginning to feel our age pet. And we feel it more when we're fat. :rotfl:

Also like you, my head isn't quite there yet but, I'm beginning to feel the stirrings of action coming on.......:D

I went to visit a gym here the other day. (Well several gyms actually. I managed to find fault with most of them...too small, too full of young thin people, too this/too that. :o) However the last one looked really good, big and bright. Not too busy, wide range of users so oldies as well as younger ones and every single person that worked there that I spoke to including the lady in the cafe was really friendly. I'm just trying to get the 'gee' up to actually join and go now. And of course there's the small matter of the year's membership fees they want upfront. :D

Stick around sweet please? I could use an ally when I'm bottom of the class again and post to say so. :rotfl:

*goes off to consider whether I can be faffed to go shopping*

Try drinking a small amount of tonic water or bitter lemon - you're looking for the stuff with quinine in it - about a small wineglass a day until symptoms ease (might only take one dose). If you don't like it think of it as medicine give it a good stir and let it sit for a bit to reduce the bubbles then neck it. If you do like it stick some gin in and enjoy :D (I keep a small can by the bed because when it hits I get it in both shins and both calves simultaneously, which I can honestly say is more painful than childbirth but not quite as bad as meningitis.)

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water :D...

Before you get the tomatoes out :p I'll tell you now that I'm not stopping, because I'm about to start working on a documentary.

I've been lurking on three other forums and found by observation, that no matter what the diet, way of eating or ethos of the forum, it seems that the forums always always deviate from the ideals.

Carbs are so insidious in our society, that many people find it impossible to handle a zero carb or low carb diet. They have to resort to lower carb breads, pizzas, muffins, cakes etc.

The situation develops that the higher carbers get defensive about the stuff they are eating and those who DO zero or low carb like the diet plan/WOE/ethos says, end up being driven into a small corner or driven out.

In order to accommodate higher carb eaters, low carb diets get tweaked - it's now OK to eat pasta in the maintenance phase of the latest Atkins diet book :(

I'm happy with my WOE because I've read a lot of books, a lot of studies and emailed with doctors and researchers. Eating cleaner and low carb, without the additives IS healthier. No question.

So I'll leave you to your cakes while I go eat my prosciutto crudo and organic salad.

Aw Edwardia it's v sad that you've taken this tone with everyone here, even the one's who haven't argued with you.

This is a forum to support low carbers in general, its a wide ranging subject and people follow different diets, but we're all of the same mind, carbs are bad for you.

My own diet is higher in some carbs than others are doing, but I haven't felt any animosity as long as I make myself clear Im clean eating with a low carb slant. No cunfusion then and many of my principles apply to all low carbers, just as the same way I take advice and recipes from various people here.

And if you're going to be smug, then so can I, just off to eat a chicken salad
