Deepest, darkest wiltshire, although not for much longer!
We had sausages for dinner aswel (local farm shop, gloucester old spot pigs, yum) with broccoli, asparagus, swede mash and onion and mushroom gravy0 -
Just dropping in to say hi, hope you're all well.
I've had a carpy week with family to stay, lots of days out and eating out, it's been just awful ;-)
Back on the straight and narrow today, got one eye on my next holiday, which is in 8 weeks, operation low carb has begun. I WILL get rid of these cankles, lol

Morning - thanks for the 'welcome backs'.
Going home this morning, but not for long. There must be a huge saving on power and water bills, surely?
This morning I finished off the belly pork - only one strip left which I ate cold with some English mustard. I love the strips of belly pork rather than the big pieces and often cut them up when raw and stick in bags in the freezer. Then it's so quick to stir fry when I need a meal in a hurry.
Been having strawberries and cream fairly often during the week recently, Scottish strawberries are so sweet this year and so tasty. Thankfully the season is short. I used to feast on cherries for the short season too but know that they are v high carbs/sugar. Pity.
Hope everyone is bearing up well, what with rain, fog, carbs, all out there trying to trip us up.0 -
Morning all
Hi Shelia54 – thanks for the welcome… I am not really sure how many, which is how I managed to find this thread… I think I will try the 40-50 g a day. Once I get going on the low carbs and plan properly then I shouldn’t have a problem. It’s when I make cakes with the kids etc. that the resolve goes flying out of the window. I am a cooker from scratch girl so anything homemade is just irresistible…
As for jeans – large backsides in jeans look as fantastic as skinny one IMO as a college tutor I see plenty of different size bottoms in denim on a daily basis. Ooo the almond pancake recipe sounds lovely – could I trouble you for it???
Some of the posts are fantastic and I have enjoyed reading them. Well done to everyone who has lost weight, bought smaller clothes and the exercise programmes seem to be doing well. As for resistant exercise can anyone tell me if a 3 year old springer spaniel pulling on her lead and me trying to keep her to heal is classed as ‘resistant’ or not ??? :rotfl:
We have belly pork for dinner too – not sure who mentioned it but I love well done crispy bacon or pork with the fat on…. Reminds me of home – Dad used to make awesome bacon butties on a Sunday morning to give Mum a rest when we were kids – with brown sauce, thick white bakers bread and real butter – yum, however not very low carb.
Well happy low carbing today for everyone… :A

Thanks to all for the kind words. Well, we think we'll give the church picnic a miss today. It has been absolutely hammering it down and they'll have the picnic in the church hall followed by 'garden games' indoors. Everyone will be taking their sandwiches, packets of crisps, biscuits etc along with them. We have cooked chicken pieces to eat, loads of fresh salads and green veg that we bought yesterday at the farmers' market - these are grown by the local organic gardening club. We bought some onion bhajis and took them round to the airport where we sat and watched easyJet flights taking off and had a snack, 2 onion bhajis each. Not sure what they contain, but they were delicious. Then we went to a local garden centre where I bought some veg plants. Did I say we are getting a VegTrug? - this is the kind of gardening container which is waist-height, no bending, lifting, digging etc and it's possible to grow all kinds of veg in it right outside the back door. http://www.alton-gardencentre.co.uk/search_results.php?q=vegtrug This is all part of us keeping control of our own health by means of 'healthy eating', fresh food, fewer 'food miles' etc. I'm not sure I could sit in that church hall again watching them all scoffing high carb, high convenience, processed foods, especially the older people. I've already had many arguments as to 'oh you can't do without potatoes' - what they'd say to my not eating bread either, I just can't contemplate. We are getting the VegTrug delivered on Wednesday - as it had been used for a demonstration and it's now getting late in the season, we got a bargain.
My GDs are in a part of the country which has been hit by floods - they're both adult instructors in Sea Cadets and most of their weekend planned activities have had to be cancelled because rivers too high and this weekend, can't go camping. Very disappointing for all concerned, especially the kids who've looked forward to it.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

There was a report a couple of days ago about how diabetes, and it's related conditions, was going to massively increase NHS costs for the next generation (you don't say!!), all they were focusing on was the way they medicate it that has to change - not prevention. Depressing that the 'experts' in charge, can't see beyond a pill.
Anyhow, I hate to keep reminding you - it is my job after all! - but make sure that you are not losing muscle mass in this great 'weight' loss by exercising, pref. with resistance exercises.
As someone who does no exercise, can I ask how you would know if your body was burning muscle mass as opposed to fat? Also, are there any 'resistance ' type exercises on the wii fit that I could do-its funny how easy I find it to sort the food out, but just can't commit to exercise. A walk every day wouldn't be resistance would it????0
