I haven't had a crumb of bread since I started SW 6 weeks ago, neither has hubby and we're amazed that we are not really missing it as we both feel so much better.

I know what you mean about bread being everywhere when you're out. I usually pick a jacket potato with beans or something with cous cous or even pasta.
Pennylane, when I was a kid, here we go, the old pensioner and all that, but my mother always bought thin sliced bread. Many more slices to the loaf? I don't know, but we ate far less bread then.

Find a thin sliced brown loaf for smoked salmon sandwiches now, it doesn't exist. We eat far too much bread containing sugar. Cheese and tomato sandwich comes as a thick wedge panini or a baquette. All high profit of course but I want the filling, not the bread.

I agree, when you are out and about around lunch time, and think where can I go to eat, it's either, ooooh, lets have a think........nowhere, or somewhere where you have to say 'i'll have that but without that, and none of that', to end up with virtually nothing.

I'm surprised no-one has started a low-carb cafe franchise, if I had any idea about retail catering I'd be really up for it.

i agree murphydog ... eating out is a night mare ... best i have found is a carvery ... vegggies ( which is usually just what i have) plus the meat... the veggies whilst having carbs they are of a better veriety than bread etc

as far as i know the u.s.a is more catered for it (fingers crossed this is the case) ... will soon find out

I would like to make a polite request.

Can we stop the carb sarcasm and the idea that there are low carb people who will go on about other people's carbs, please?

The main protagonist appears to have gone (fingers crossed) and I made 1, 1 I tell you, comment about oats. :o

I will never do that again.

Indeed, without a question being asked, I will not comment on folks foods in a negative way. What would be the point? :rotfl: :D

.. just dont get any protein into it
bowl of porridge with a table spoon of sunflower seeds , table spoon of oatbran , table sppon of fibre, two teaspoons of flax seed oil and whole fat milk

L - there is protein in the milk, you could add a splash of double cream as well. Also have you tried almond butter? Like peanut butter, but almonds - if it needs an explanation :o . A lot of people use this in porridge for flavour, texture, vits and..........protein.

It might sound a bit strange, but it's nice in the centre of celery sticks for a snack, and if you share an apple with someone, just slice and spread! (approx 10g carbs for 1/2 med apple - not particularly low, but useful to know if you are peckish.)

When I was on my eat every 4 hours, I would always have a quorn sausage in the glovebox or in my bag. Not low carb, but I lost weight.

I believe we can lose weight on any regimen, as what happens is we start to care about what we consume.
It's no longer the second or third slice of buttered toast with marmalade, we stop and think.
The low carb way is for health though.

I don't either but I wouldn't jump to the idea it was particularly negative. Maybe it was such an unusual one it seemed worth commenting on? Can't say I've tried it but as i enjoy very strong savoury foods for breakfast on occasion, it didn't really register as odd :D

I have been having coconut oil in goats milk with turmeric and black pepper, so wasn't surprised when that caused comment :rotfl:

I think the temperature on here is still a little above normal and we've all been hurt / spiked in some way. Let's all just give it a couple of days to calm right down, back to where we should be.

    I love you all.

Surely not elantan. That's where the sugar in coleslaw comes from.

I suppose a huge steak and plain salad?

Oh what the Hell, if it's not for your health go and enjoy everything. Stressing is worse than pigging. Have a great time.
