There is the dukaners.com forum but most of them will tell you to get the book...
On the official Dukan website, you can put in your stats and it will tell you your "true weight" which you may or may not agree with, but also advise how long to do the "attack" phase for.
On attack you can have lean meat, fish, shellfish, eggs and very low fat dairy. No veg. But it's only for a few days. Also 1.5 tablespoons of oatbran. This can be made into porridge, pancake, muffin etc or just stirred into yoghurt.
On the next phase, you alternate between one day of protein as above, and one day of protein plus veg (not starchy veg), and up the oatbran to 2 tablespoons. You continue with this until you hit your true weight.
The next is consolidation where for a set amount of time, depending on the amount lost, you slowly introduce other foods, still quite restricted.
Lastly, stabilisation is the permanent way of eating, still avoiding very carby stuff and having a pure protein day every week (which I think someone has already mentioned).
Hope that helps xxx
Thank you my darling.
May have to read the book, then
Thanks for the pointers - sounds like an option considering my circs.

Mercy - I have looked at Dukan as well but can't cut out the cheese, nuts etc. I have found that having a cheat week and then going back to normal helped me a bit but I am overall stuck, like you. I tried going much lower but that didn't help either.
Have a word with mazzers as she is losing again after a long stall.;)0 -

This is exactly what Mrs G found. Despite strict low carbing she found that she couldn't just eat as much as she wanted, she had to keep an eye on the overall calories too. If she didn't, her weight went up, carbs or no carbs.0 -
I miss the cheese Sheila, too. That is why I keep getting stuck. that and salami. Lol.Bossymoo

I think I read that Mrs G was normal weight, not overweight. I think this is true when low carbing, once you are close to normal weight you do have to be aware of calories in order to lose weight.0 -
Yes you are!
"Based on your experience in the last two weeks plus your weight goal, you've come to one of the forks in the road. It's time to decide whether to stay in Induction or move on to Phase 2 [...] Having a large amount of weight to lose is a common reason to stay longer in Induction [...] If you're content for now with the Induction food choices, you should consider staying put [...] the choice is yours." New Atkins, New You.
Until recently it suggested on the website that you should stay in Induction for 2 weeks or until you were within 1.5 stone (?) of your target weight.
Well thanks for this, I have not studied Atkins for a while and like many others do my own thing while sticking to a very low carb plan.
I do not have a lot of weight to lose so if I up the carbs the weight lose stops.
Thanks for your help I appreciate it.0 -
I was advised to eat smaller meals more often for my stomach problems and thyroid and so have 3 main meals and 2 snacks. It seems to work better for me in that way. I don't count calories but they do show up when I use Fitday and seem to be 1500 - 1600 overall with 40 - 50g carbs0

My sister is doing the Dukan diet. She's lost almost 50lbs now and is very happy with the diet. It wouldn't do for me -I'd miss my dairy and fat - but different things work for different folk.0 -

Thanks for the advice and support.
I've ordered the book and will decide once I've read it. I'm thinking of a month on but will see after more info.
Need something to work as I won't be happy if I don't make it so

I made mooli chips last night. A great success I'd say. I melted a block of lard in a saucepan and deep fried them. They seemed to take quite a bit longer than potato chips though, so don't overcook the steak like I did while waiting for them:D I usually make celeriac chips, but these were way better.
Have a good low carb day everyone.0
