Away with the fairies :beer:0 -
bossymoo well done you :T I promise not to eat any toast to be supportive ! xx
andrewsmum, anything you can do with chicken quarters or drumsticks you can do with duck legs but since they do have more flavour than namby pamby added water supermarket chicken you can go bolder with flavour and add things like chorizo, olives, smoked pimentoes. Waitrose quite often does an offer of 3 packs (6 legs) for £10 We lurve them so much we don't buy chicken portions anymore.
tod123 your lunch sounded yummy and where do you get the shirataki noodles from please ?
kafkathecat (great username) I hope we get a good summer so I can go blackberrying with my mother
Newsflash: I emailed the Advertising Standards Authority a couple of weeks ago about Flora Cuisine cos I think the health claims are misleading. Got an email today saying other people complained too and Flora Cuisine is now under investigation. In case you didn't see the ads it's a blend of linseed, sunflower and rapeseed oils which is white and goes clear when heated.0 -
Edwardia - I am ok, just tired, thanks for asking
You are, of course, right about vitamin supplements but some tablets contain way over the recommended amount so I err on the side of caution. I do supplement with Vit D, calcium and magnesium but try to get the rest from natural sources. I eat well but have small amounts of smoked salmon and other luxuries to eek them out.

Not really worried as I will wait to speak to Dr on Monday. With thyroid, I will let you into a secret. I ticked the box myself at the start of the year just to see as two of my friends have a low thyroid count . I was just suggesting that these ages are more likely to have this and doctors don't always think about it if you say that you are tired, cold, depressed, overweight etc.
bossymoo- well done on your loss, brilliant!!
breakfast - scrambled egg with smoked salmon
lunch - smoked mackeral, prawns, salad, avocado, mayo

Called in and bought a pack of 20 worked out about £1.30 each. They market them as [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][SIZE=-1]konnyaku

They actually come rolled in bunches, and if you dont mess them too much they stay that way and make a great substitute for any Italian gnocchi recipe , like with a tomato/basil sauce0

mmmmemories.... pan fried duck with mushroom risotto and a beetroot marmalade... I guess that's one recipe I won't be making too often in the future. I lurve duck, especially when the skin is all crispy, I might have dodge over to Waitrose tomorrow to stock up on the nice things I can only get there

Having problems working out why I have been out of ketones for the last 36 hours? Sticking to 30 net carbs but don't want to go any lower. I am seriously considering having a Baileys coffee tonight as I really fancy one but it would add another 15 carbs so guess I will resist the temptation.
I think that we should all book a mansion, with a large pool, in the sun and have a break. Hired help, of course, so that we could relax and hire a gourmet low carb chef.0 -
That sounds like a brilliant idea sheila54Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Fabulous idea sheila54.. I vote for the hills behind Cannes so we can go ogle the stars at the film festival  Finding a low carb chef could be tricky, only one I'm aware of is Italian-American George Stella on the Food Network.
Re: ketones only thing I can think of are the raspberries which might spike your BG. Personally, I've never tested for ketones  but do test BG. Blackberries, raspberries and blueberries are supposedly low GI fruits but they spike me. Rather than start buying BG strips and meter, how about prioritising low GI fruit and veg and writing down what you were eating when you went out of ketosis. Might help you track the culprit ?? https://www.glycemicindex.com
Re: lipids my GP told me he wants total cholesterol under 5, low trigs, high HDL and LDL to be the fluffy kind - does that sound right ?
