Mazzers (((Mazzers))) am feeling tired too have hardly moved off the top of the bed today so no 30 mins walk ahem. I haven't managed 4 days of wet washing but def managed two days before now. Hope you feel better real soon xx

daska and sheila54 I can't eat many potato salad at all now before my stomach revolts and <look away now if eating> it comes back up. Used to really like that Lidl potato salad with creme fraiche.

sheila54 well hopefully it'll be good news.. if you've been pretty good and eaten fat not carbs then your cholesterol should be excellent etc. Even if they aren't then maybe you should take these tests as a baseline and concentrate on nutrition rather than weight loss.

It's not easy though, for example just getting rid of the low fat brainwashing. Because my Pa had high cholesterol and BP we were reared on a really strict low fat diet. Now I just lurve splurging on clotted cream :)

Skymist.. Dr Kruse was one of the guests on the annual low carb cruise in the Caribbean and some idiot tweeted on Twitter using his name and said he was going to let off a biohazard on the Carnival 'Magic'. So the FBI, Homeland Security etc removed him from the ship before it set sail from Galveston TX. Afterwards when it was all resolved and he was proved innocent, Carnival offered to fly him to Montego Bay to join the ship in Jamaica but he refused. I don't blame him, I'd have been furious too if that happened to me - must have been really scary !!

B- 2 FR eggs fried in Czech butter plus 250g button mushrooms and the last slice Sainsbury's uninspiring Brunswick ham diced. Dog likes it though.
L- Emmental & Gouda salad with rollmops, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds, HM cider vinegar & EV olive oil dressing.
D - New season English lamb chops (Sainsbury's not Tesco hehe) with leeks, peas and sliced runner beans

Just got off the phone with my dad, he's bought the book and been doing Induction for four days! I didn't even do a hard sell on him, just suggested he watch the Gardner lecture when he mentioned that the GP had told him his cholesterol levels were too high and wanted him to start taking statins.

Am almost lost for words, he's been veggie since before I was born ahem years ago, and is currently eating chicken and turkey!

wow I can quite believe you being shocked daska, I'd fall over had it been mine. He went the other way and went veggie in 1982, didn't him any good though :( Being an ex veggie myself ( I managed 11 yrs) it is quite a carby diet.

But your father must have amazing willpower to just decide right my health is the most important thing, I'm becoming an omnivore again. More power to his elbow and it's all your influence so well done daska :T:A

Feeling snacky... What can I eat??? Is it too late for eggs? What I really fancy is caramelised onion hummus with Doritos followed by moonrock pudding (lol).

We had this on holiday, it's basically a bowl of custard with maltesers and magic stars sprinkled in, lol, so incredibly bad for you, but the way the maltesers keep their shape until they hit your mouth is lovely...

    SORRY!

Daydream over. I'll go and eat a bit of ham...

TBH dad didn't become vegetarian because he didn't like meat, he fell for his guru's 'vegetarianism is better for you' spiel and then justified his commitment with animal welfare and land use arguments. When he met my mum his favorite meal was peppered steak but within a couple of years was munching lentils like they were going out of fashion - they really were hippies, they even drove to India in a T1! Did have to laugh though, the list said no chickpeas but it didn't say no humus :wall:

Bossymoo - that's when I have a large spoon of thick cream and a blackberry, repeat until satisfied :D

Bit annoyed yesterday - wanted some creme fraiche for chilli tortillas (sans tortillas for me) and tried in M&S on Weds but they only had 1/2 fat creme fraiche so I thought I'd wait and try the local Co-Op yesterday. But they only had 1/2 fat too! Even though both shops' tub said "half the fat of our standard creme fraiche", but did they *have* the standard creme fraiche???? No. How stoopid. The Co-Op stuff had no flavour either so I ended up sticking in some double cream thickened with lemon juice anyway, which is what I normally do when I can't be bothered to buy creme fraiche! Gah.

:( The 4lb hasn't shifted. But it WILL! Back on the straight and narrow today. I suspect serving size creep for it not disappearing again, I think I've been having much larger servings than I need/want, possibly because the carers keep getting out dinner plates instead of tea plates.

ive been feeling low ( mix of hormones and feeling very unappreciated and extremely tired) i have decided to go and have some bloods done next week to see whats going on . unfortunately i have royally fallen off the diet , my diet this week has consisted of , pizza, chips , mcdonalds :o chocolate , sweets and very little else :( i darnt weigh myself and was determined to call a halt to this destructive way of eating this morning , but for breakfast ive had a crumpet with butter 2 slices of bread and butter and a chocolate bar  i cant seem to lift myself out of it

off shopping later , that could be a disaster if i succumb to buying in more carp

angelfeathers - coincidentally I was comparing assorted creams yesterday on my blog ! I found that creme fraiche branded as Healthy Living, Be Good To Yourself etc contain a combination from dextrose, milk protein, tapioca starch, potato starch and pectin. Generally they have at least double the carbs of ordinary creme fraiche. Whipped cream also has additives whereas whipping cream doesn't. Pouring cream has additives but single cream doesn't. I didn't even bother with cream alternatives..

daska (((daska))) a low carb diet is not a calorie controlled diet, there's no portion control going on. However if you find consistently that you just can't manage to eat a big plateful of food I suggest you get someone to move the bigger plates. By a tea plate do you mean a side plate ? That doesn't sound big enough to me, I have to say.

Also, if your carers do your shopping I'd suggest checking that they are buying the full fat versions of things. I don't think it would be possible to tell by look/taste alone whether a cottage cheese was full or low fat, for example. But if much of your diet included low fat stuff, you could be really underestimating the amount of carbs.

Off to be pincushioned by a phlebotomist yet again, then to Morrisons maybe for some duck legs :)

sistercas (((sistercas))) oh dear that's not good. First of all, stick that L'Oreal ad line in your head, you are worth it xx. Suggest some multivitamins as nutrition back up, they are cheap in Lidl. They do take weeks to work but if you take them consistently you should see some difference. Is the pizza McD habit because you feel too tired to cook ?
If you have a wok lingering about, or know someone with a wok they don't use or spot one in a charity shop, cooking with a wok is really fast and you can use bean sprouts instead of rice. A big low carb breakfast would help as well xx
