Well, I've moved from attack to cruise on Dukan. I did 5 days, and lost 3.5lb.
    So today I've had:
Turkey rashers, 97% pork sausages, mushrooms
    Pork steaks, sprouts, cauliflower mash
Mixed grill with hm sweet onion relish and some shredded salad
Oatbran loaf with sweetened cream cheese topping

It all sounds good but I'm bored already. I can see me switching back to Atkins soon. Low fat is low fun lol. All my favourite snacks are not allowed on Dukan, and I'm a big snacker. Even my 3yo has asked where the salami is lol

Still, hopefully the weightloss will keep going, I managed so well last year on this plan.

Am gonna watch hitchhikers guide to the galaxy in bed tonight. Rock n roll...

Have a good bank hol, all.

Banting's letter is available as a PDF online, I'm thinking it might have been on Project Gutenberg, sistercas. It's in Dr Carlton Fredericks' book on low carbing as well, possibly in one of the Atkins books ? Gary Taubes mentions him in lectures so the letter might be in one of his books.

Seems I cross posted with skymist,, thanks for that :)

IF Spring gets underway in my garden, I'm going to experiment with blanching young fig and grapevine leaves as wraps. Before I got interested in Paleo stuff, I used to buy tubs of egg mayo filler and use those in salads. Since I can't be bothered to make my own mayo, I've quit eating that so I have to think of some fillings now !

    Well done daska :T

Angelfeathers - thanks for the recipes. Can't have bananas as too high carb but I will try the chocolate recipe with adaptions

bossymoo - on looking at Dukan and trying that cake I think that Atkins is more liberal and tasty but only looked superficially

sistercas - nice to hear from you.

Edwardia - thanks for the info. Think that I will carry on as normal for next week until I weigh again and get my blood results. Spending too much time worrying so fingers and toes crossed xx

Wet this morning at Hampton Court. Lots of stalls with tasters but stuck to the cheese, parma ham and sausage. Overall produce was quite expensive but I came away with 3 packs of good quality sausages for £10, fudge for the grandchildren and 2 books, one called Natural Wonderfoods and an excellent cookery book for daughters with sushi, mini pizzas and lots of interesting recipes. Lots of booze tasters, relishes and they have cookery demos in tents.

On my reckoning I have had 23 carbs so have been pretty good.
Got a bit cross in local restaurant as we had good quality burgers without the bun or chips and asked for salad instead. They wanted to charge us for a salad between us which I think was a bit rotten but my friend complained and got the price knocked off.

How has your day been? x

Glad you're feeling better confused76 ! I don't remember having carb flu but giving up diet Pepsi and sweeteners recently was NOT fun :( So big sympathy (((confused76)))

Been adding stuff to my blog today, dunno whether to make it public or not. I stash recipes, links, upload photos and make comments but I managed to make a hash of doing YouTube vids and I don't think I posted enough stuff by me. I probably don't come across as shy and I wouldn't say I am either ;) but somehow the idea of writing very personal stuff about how low carbing and diabetes really make me feel, seems strange.. does that seem normal ?

    afternoon :)

been to wetherspns for lunch had a classic burger ( and went double- so 2 burgers) with bacon and cheese and salad - no bread . it was lovely and really filling.

sheila thats a bit of a cheek charging you for salad when you're not having bread/ chips etc. actually my meal came with chips , i didnt realise when i read the menu but DD2 ate them ;)

im reading gary Taubes , why we get fat at the moment , hes blinding me with science so im taking it in small bits but its interesting
