    Morning

mazzers- I can't wear heels either. Do you soak your feet when you get home and apply cream? Wear thin socks over the top to help it soak in, if it helps. Has worked for me in the past ;)

Gloomendoom - I use lettuce for wraps a lot and add chicken, cheese, mayo etc. Great idea as they can hold plenty if you get Romaine or Cos lettuce.

Off to Hampton Court with a friend for the Foodies Festival today. Weather looks suspect but hope to get some organic meat / sausages etc. if not too expensive. Lucky I don't drink wine or beer as they have a lot of samples of that as well :D

Mercy - when do you travel and how are you?

    Have a good day :)

Have just made the Dukan chocolate cake - don't bother it has no taste :(

Still trying to find a decent chocolate brownie/cake recipe that tastes ok and doesn't have flax. Really difficult when my daughter bakes such lovely cakes and I can't have them. Anyone got any ideas?

This one from Elana's Pantry is yummy: http://www.elanaspantry.com/double-chocolate-walnut-brownies/

I don't know how low-carb it is, though. I made it when I was focussing on gluten-free more than low-carb. With all her recipes there are suggestions in the comments for substituting the various sweetners and oils, though, which may help. I usually sub coconut oil for the grapeseed oil too as I prefer it.

And again, not sure how low-carb, and it's not chocolate, but I can definitely recommend her banana bread: http://www.elanaspantry.com/paleo-banana-bread/.

Sheila54.. watched Low Carb Explained on YouTube.. it's an interview with Dr Mary Vernon MD conducted by Dr Andreas Eenfeldt. At around 15.57 she says that if people on a low carb diet are sticking on weight loss it may be that they have incretin damage. I don't know anything about this except that Januvia (sitagliptin) and Byetta are incretin mimics used in diabetes.

WooHoo! Just hit the 3 stone mark this morning :D Shall celebrate this evening as DS2's dad rang yesterday and suggested he came round for dinner, so I warned him that I wouldn't be compromising my diet just cos he was coming round then picked up a couple of nice Aberdeen Angus sirloin steaks. We'll have them with huge pile of broccoli and a cheese sauce (cheddar and philly melted in a saucepan) and finish off with berries and unpasturised, unhomogenised, gloriously yellow cream. (The weight's and excuse, I'll actually be celebrating the fact that DS2's dad has recovered enough from his own health problems and depression that he actually feels like being sociable with anyone - it's been a long hard road.)

Gloomendoom - Like sheila54 I do this with Romaine because it's lovely and strong like iceberg as well as being far higher in nutrients. (I've not tried it with Cos.)

Has anyone tried making kale chips - the only kale I can find round here is the 'ready to cook' variety which is already sliced and I was wondering if it might work with baby spinach (less prep work)? I'd be giving it a go right now except it all looked really manky :D

Hi sistercas :) and thanks yep still feeling kinda stunned, amazed and well chuffed.

The only negative thing I'd say about Dr Robert Atkins MD is that he took credit for the low carb weight loss diet when in fact people had been doing it for many years beforehand.

If you Google William Banting you'll find his Letter on Corpulence, written in 1863 ! I have a book on low carb dieting I found in a charity shop, written in 1966 by Dr Carlton Fredericks MD

daska - well done on the weight loss :T
I found a recipe for kale chips on the New York Times website but been looking in supermarkets and yet to find kale ! There's one on smittenkitten as well

I've heard about Banting, didn't they used to say, pre-war, if they were trying to slim into a wedding dress, for example, "no thanks, I'm Banting" which meant none of e cakes, breads, cereals etc.

It's only a recent thing we've been blaming fat for our fatness, lol.
