Edwardia - I have Tiana Organic Extra Virgin Coconut oil and it is fine. Not cheap but got it B1G1HP at Holland and Barratt. 500ml so lasts a long time. Glad that you are putting yours to good use. Good luck at Dr's.

Mercy - you have been quiet recently, how are you doing?

Have a good day everyone :)
  • Thanks Daska and others, I have spent ages reading up about veggie low carb, trying to find a way that will suit me, so I can keep to it. Had cream cheese with celery last night, yummie. I will start by not eating sugar as usggested, and try and greatly reduce carbs, ie no bread/spuds,cakes etc.

I wondered if anyone makes themself a shake for breafast that is low carb? That suits me first thing., especially if I could blitz up some berries with it. Used to have celebrity slim occasionally but that is 27.7g carb (24.9 sugars) so too high.

Snacking all day just keeps your blood sugar high, which means that your pancreas is getting overloaded pumping out insulin to bring the blood sugar levels down. Eventually those beta cells in the pancreas will just give up and then you have diabetes. Insulin is the main hormone which regulates fat and also part of the survival mechanism. So high levels of insulin will both make you fat and stop you losing weight.

    Very nicely explained.

    Hi Sheila

Thanks for keeping tabs on me, nice to know you care :);):)

Not doing too well just at the mo as i had to take my Newtoncat to his final destination this morn. Last few days have been about him, not me :)

It was a good one as these things go and we had lots of chances to give loves as i booked him in for today on Monday.

Not really in the mood for food. Talking or doing :rotfl:

Am still in the mood for reading, though and will keep up as best i can when on hols too. If i see a way i can answer a q or suggest something necessary or frivolous, I'll do it. :D

Thanks for your wonderful support sheila, it really does make my life lighter n brighter :T. Same for all you lovely folks on here. ;) This is a good place to be. :j

Big love to all you low carbers!

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)

thanks Mazzers, very useful - can I ask, do you mix it with water or milk? and do you use just the one scoop per shake? In the reviews some people seemed to prefer it mixed with milk.

My favourite flavour is coffee, I suppose I could try vanilla and add strong coffee to it plus crushed ice.

Hi Mercy I'm new here and don't "know" you, but just wanted to say how I feel for you, on losing your much loved cat.

We lost our lovely Rosie about 2 months ago, and had to do same as you - it is heartbreaking and I still get tearful and wish I had her with me still. We have 3 other lovely cats, but she will always be loved and remembered. Much sympathy to you x

Mercy - losing a pet or someone you love is always hard so hugs to you xx Try not to let it spoil your holiday ;)

Minihauk - how is it going this week?

mazzers - I never thought of low carb shakes when in a hurry. How is IF going? Any good recipes you have tried?

Miserable weather but had a walk to the shops. Wish it would cheer up but doesn't look good for the weekend :(

Mercy - sorry to hear about your cat ((((HUGS))))

SHEILA54 - Just a thought but I remember reading somewhere that there's something in avocado's that can stall weight loss - can't remember off the top of my head what it is and can't find it via google.

I scoff 250g button mushrooms with my eggs on a regular basis cos they are both low carb and low GI so you could have more.

Oooh, thanks for that, Edwardia! I've been meaning to ask if mushrooms are good because our local Co-Op (which is on the way back from the school run so gets visited frequently) keeps having great big boxes reduced to clear to about 50p! I've been feeling guilty about scoffing them, but shall do so no longer! :-)
