i know people say coconut oil is good for you but i dont like cooking with it as it flavours the food and i cant eat it by the teaspoon , so i have made some coconut chocolate by melting 85% choc and coconut oil in equal measures and eat a couple a day and they are lovely
sunny hope you are ok hon xx
These chocs sound lovely
Similar thing to 'coco candy' on recipe list. That uses cocoa powder and sweeteners though. I have made variations on the theme by adding LC peanut butter, ground flax, Dark choc etc - sometimes all at once :rotfl: Good to make lots and chill in icecube trays in the freezer. They pop out and can be kept sealed in the fridge for ages. well, theoretically....
Glad you reminded me. I find it a good way to get coconut oil in and satisfy a sweetie urge now and then. coconut oil disappears in green smoothies etc too. Melt it first and it just gets emulsified and the taste isn't very apparent.
Very glad it's the weekend!
Still smoke free! Have loaded some cartomisers with different flavoured nicotine juice and they are steeping. I got absinthe, Black Sambuca, Amaretto (theme emerging?), Liquorice and double espressoThe cofy one also contains caffeine :rotfl: May be useful as a morning choice
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Hi peeps!
Been thinking.
I'm very much always low carb and until I started having a grapefruit every day I was racking up <30g carb a day. Now averaging <50g.
I know I will likely have a bit of a carb fest this weekend as i will eat chips and drink ciderI also bought some veg crisps as I wanted to know what they're about.
so with this in mind I'm thinking of doing a Dukan or similar for 5 days next week. Just not sure about the low fat aspect as this is replaced by carbs in low fat foods and I rebel instinctively at the thort.
Is there any point doing all protein and fat?
Should I do the Dukan as stated?
Please discuss.
Cheers

funny you should say that Mercy. I looked at Dukan yesterday. But the initial protein only and then protein one day and protein and veg the next i dont think i could do. i havent looked into it properly as that put me off a bit. will have another look when i have time. unless someone wants to enlighten me on here!0

Last night I had a late boozy one (vodylimesoda) with friend. Didn't get my brek n lunch ready  So this morn had to just grab n go.
Brek - 1 red grapefruit, 1 packet of smoked trout with garlic (Lidl - nice but does repeat and not really a breakfast thing, trust me), some cheddar
Lunch - Lidl greek yogurt and pecans, pecan dust and broken walnuts.
Eve - 2 chicken legs
Not my most inspired feeding. Not even 1 green thing.(I fervently hope)
Help me!
Just before bed now, this made me laugh

I've had the grass fed NZ lamb chops from Lidl on that promo Mercy and they are yummy - though not on special offer.
I was watching an old BBC Horizon doco on YouTube last night and it was said it's the protein that makes us full so I can see that Dukan would work for a weight loss diet. I'm dubious about it as a long-term thing, I think it could put pressure on the kidneys.
Question: How many eggs do you get through a week (please include those in baked goods separately). I get through roughly a dozen.0 -
Six or eight eggs each, plus another dozen used in baking and other cooking.
Sometimes more.0 -
just back from work , and tucked into l c crackers and roule - delish, the only down fall is i ordered some atkins bars ( peanut and caramel ) as they are handy when i am at work , its a box of 15 and ive tried one and they taste like cardboard
what a waste of money, i wish i could kick my sweet tooth altogether it would be far better for me
i have been looking at LEPTIN Rx ( i think it was Daska that posted the link) leptin reset is supposed to help you become insulin sensitive again, so i thought i may have a go but you have to have 50-70g of protein within 30 mins of waking - i had 3 eggs , haloumi and chicken for breakfast this morning and i had to force it in and i dont think it was near 50g protein either. i would like to do it but i think it will be hard, has anyone tried it??
mercy :T:T well done keep going it will save you loads of dosh
edwardia the pistachio bark sounds lovely i could try that with almonds or chopped brazils :T
hope everyone is ok xx0 -
I hate testing my blood glucose cos I get fixated on numbers, rather like someone on a diet getting depressed by looking at the scales every morning. Nor do I like sticking myself and squeezing blood out of my fingers. Gritted my teeth and did it yesterday and today and found that I've got normal blood sugars with the aid of just the Metformin so I think part of the reason I was feeling grotty was taking two more drugs than I need to be and possibly giving myself low blood sugar.
I hope that my HbA1C will be good though
I looked at the leptin website daska and scrolled down, well no one is getting me doing ice baths lol...I know Andy Murray does but it's weird..
wow Gloomendoom.. respect..0 -
Mercy - how is the stop smoking campaign going?
Edwardia - I usually have 1 egg a day for breakfast and then about 4 - 6 more a week in cooking.
I still would like to know what you all use for sweetening for cooking please?
Had a bad day yesterday as I ate a panna cotta from the M&S £10 offer (15 carbs) but back on track today.
I got another £10 offer today which included a chicken that costs £9.71 normally 2.102kg, broccolii, green beans, carrots and courgette veg bag, profiteroles for the grandchildren (honest) and a Silver award winning bottle of wine.
Off tomorrow to London with DD for a spa day on Monday. Never been on one and a bit worried about stripping off and having a body massageIt was a present for her birthday so will try to be game but she is lovely, young and slim.
Have a good Saturday everyone.0
