mazzers have a look at THIS link re fasting it may help x
Thanks.. thats where i first read about fasting, i'm thinking maybe the twice a week may suit me, have to get back into lc-ing first tho, better go bake some bread
I spose logically if you miss two days food thats about 3500-4000 calories saved and thats a lb burned off, so a steady 1lb a week.
And although i'm not calorie counting, im just saying0 -
mmm not sure i could do 24 hrs, i was thinking of doing the eat when your hungry
just having a cuppa, i have very little milk in it but cant seem to give it up entirely
day off today so i am going to go with my appetite , problem is im not sure my appetite works under normal parameters yet so it could be an interesting day0 -
hungry already0

sistercas & mazzers - I am probably missing the point but IT seems to cause problems for both of you so is it worth it? If it was my day off I would want to relax and eat normally.
Sunnyday - how are you doing?
Rushing out so will post later. Have a good day everyone0 -

I think you are...firstly it's IF not IT
But i only did it briefly, i've been talking about it but not got back into it yet.
You can eat normally, just not as often as usual, for me, it's about not getting any insulin response for several hours as thats what stores the fat, and my blood glucose seems high even when i'm lc-ing.
I can be pretty disciplined in work so think that maybe have two fasting days a week on workdays and enjoy my days off (sensibly of course!)0 -
mazzers - it seems my suggestion may not be a daft as it seemed
take a look at this link to criticalmas
I reckon I started doing IF before anyone knew that such a thing had a name LOL. Right from when I was a child I knew that if I ate breakfast I would get hungrier earlier in the day but if I put off eating until lunchtime I would eat less overall and not feel hungry during the morning. Essentially I was doing the leangains type of fasting with a combination of a 14+ hour fasting period and compulsory early morning circuit training at school. It was when I married someone who 'must eat breakfast' and started working somewhere that the breakfast trolley came to the desk that things started to go wrong LOL.Eat food. Not too much. I can get up and have nothing to eat until 5PM but my blood glucose will rise despite not having food. Partly the Dawn Phenomenon, partly glycogen dumps. That's not me guessing, that's me monitoring my BG with a meter.
So I do question how anyone can be sure that fasting increases insulin sensitivity without testing.
People with diabetes are excused from fasting for cholesterol blood tests and fasting for Ramadan, so I presume fasting is not looked upon favourably for people with diabetes.
My GP says that the truth is that all obese people have a degree of insulin resistance and are on the conveyor belt to diabetes, although it's not always diagnosed.0 -
bossymoo- Thanks for the recipe,I have copied it down and will make some muffins this weekend.
Think this is my last day of the attack phase in Dukan, may need to read that bit again. How many days you stay on the first phase is to do with how much you want to lose.Something like that anyways:p.
So, for today I will be having
B- Cottage cheese +oatbran, 1 boiled egg
L- Grilled paprika chicken with lots of parsley and chives.
D- Seafood salad(hold the salad:D). A stirfy of prawns,
mussels and squid with loads of coriander, chilli flakes and lime.
S- Cottage cheese,1 boiled egg, roast beef leftovers to nibble.
Hope the day treats you all well. I am quite excited and nervous,am starting a new job today.Going to be working at a local pre-school. Its just part-time,I already have another part-time job. Gots to earn the pennies..:D0 -
Edwardia - My experience with coconut oil is that, when I was testing, my BS was consistently lower when I was eating coconut oil (post prandial readings on <20g/day were in the mid 4's rather than bouncing around 4.9-5.5) so it might be worth experimenting with and seeing how your body reacts.Eat food.
